Re: The Last of Us 2 Delayed Again Due to Coronavirus Epidemic

tatsumi

@Col_McCafferty why?
The logistical problems are obviously only related to physical copies.
So us people who live in the digital age are being held back now.
If we would already live in an age where everything would be only digital, such a problem wouldn’t even exist.

I am simply looking forward to a digital only future.

Re: The Last of Us 2 Delayed Again Due to Coronavirus Epidemic

tatsumi

I will be happy when we get to a time where we have no physical copies anymore.
That time will come, there is no way around it, but I have it sooner rather than later.

At the very least, a system would be good where they could send everybody with a physical copy some kind of "download code" to be able to get the game (without marking it as paid in the PSN store).

Re: Here's How PS5 Handles Expanded Storage

tatsumi

My download speed is good enough to reinstall a game like HZD within 30min... I basically always delete games I don’t play.
So I may not even extend the internal storage at all for the foreseeable future.

I’m currently only using half of my 1TB.

Re: PS5's Backwards Compatibility with PS4 Has Fans Baffled

tatsumi

@pushf and are you aware that PCs are quite terrible in using all that raw power they get?
Also in terms of PC hardware you are required to think of backward compatibility. And even then it doesn’t always work out well. Many old games require a backward compatibility mode” that they have to run on with windows. Otherwise when your PC is too powerful, the legacy game may run too fast or break. It’s just that on PC they have overcome those issues in some aspects. Which makes Microsoft very experienced in backwards compatibility.

It’s a luxury consoles have and can optimize for. Now of course Sony tries to find a balance between innovation and compatibility, because their gamers want compatibility.

Only simple-minded people, who don’t have the expertise, call this incompetence. Just wait and see. Sony is testing and optimizing their compatibility, something Microsoft has had almost decades to solve.

Re: PS5's Backwards Compatibility with PS4 Has Fans Baffled

tatsumi

The problem with innovation is that you sometimes can’t properly support the last generation.
The main point is to not bottleneck the next gen through compatibility to the last gen. So that should be their main goal.
And then they can work on optimizing backwards compatibility.

Just wait and see what Sony does. People going crazy 9 months before release is kind of childish.

Re: Fans Show Displeasure at Disappointing Road to PS5 Reveal

tatsumi

I feel this video is very useful for game developers who don’t have the luxury of getting any info on PS5, especially very small devs.

Of course as an engineer myself I was incredibly interested in what Cerny had to say.
Of course the average gamer just wants to see the end result and how the controller looks like.
But this video was supposed to be shown at the Game “Developers” Conference. So of course this is not meant to the average gamer.

Re: Destiny 2: Season of the Worthy Starts Next Week, Brings Back Trials of Osiris

tatsumi

I like Ana Bray, so I will try out the story there.
Little hope it won't be a disappointment like the current storyline, though.

I don't care about anything else, since Destiny got really boring in its "loot"-chase, which is actually not a "loot"-chase anymore, but more a Pokemon collection game where guns are the Pokemon you collect from quests or activities, not actual "loot drops".
I stopped seeing Destiny as a looter shooter.

Re: Final Fantasy VII Remake Wearable Speaker Is Japan's Oddest Accessory

tatsumi

If you live in Japan, you would understand what that speaker is for.
Here people rarely have a sound system because of paper thin walls. And wearing headphones for a long period is exhausting on your ears and head.
So I would imagine those wearable speakers being a good alternative in between for Japanese who live in small apartments.

Re: Soapbox: 7 Things BioWare Needs to Fix to Rebuild ANTHEM

tatsumi

@Bagshot I am actually more of a casual player. When you join discord and ask around, some people have spent far more time.

I played since early access and always had a break during content drought. And then I spent around 100 hours per season. Cataclysm even more.
It’s really not that much when I compare myself to others.

Re: Soapbox: 7 Things BioWare Needs to Fix to Rebuild ANTHEM

tatsumi

I got 500hours and did not run into the above mentioned bugs.
There are in general only a few bugs left I guess. Question is how many new ones they will introduce with a huge update.
They will need to give us a long long public beta of the new update to ensure all the issues get ironed out properly.

Re: ANTHEM Is Being Reinvented Over the Coming Months, Says BioWare

tatsumi

@Nakatomi_Uk how can a human twist this so bad?

I am still playing Anthem, and the community is asking for the things they are trying to rework. All the community wants to keep is the core combat (and power fantasy), flying, the world and the story elements. The rest can be completely reworked as they please to make it better.

And nowhere does it say they will ask a full price to existing players. It’s just the pessimism speaking out of you

Re: Returning to ANTHEM May Just Be the Scariest Thing You Can Do This Halloween

tatsumi

@Danloaded the skull cosmetics can be bought with in-game currency only or some through challenges.
You should really give the game a shot. You’ll be positively surprised as many were before.

@topic
With these updates BioWare seems to be mostly working on fundamental improvements we players wanted. They increased legendary loot drop rate by 250%. Mass salvage is now finally implemented, which was requested for a long time but bug fixes took priority.
It will still take a while until they can get back to bigger content updates I guess.
I still enjoy the game. I am just not letting myself burn out. The game does not have enough content to invest 1000 hours into it and it is wiser to play other games while waiting for anthem updates. You will enjoy anthem much more that way.

Re: ANTHEM Comes to EA Access on PS4 Today

tatsumi

@SaucyBrotato
Yep, cataclysm is fun but will last only for another week.
Nobody knows what’s next, but BioWare seems to be slowly changing parts of the world for whatever is next.
If you fly to the emerald abyss, you will see a snake-like structure that wasn’t there 2 weeks ago.
And there is a scouting point (you might want to google it), which plays a short video of what happened.

There is definitely something in the pipeline regarding it I think.

Re: ANTHEM Comes to EA Access on PS4 Today

tatsumi

@themcnoisy
I bought anthem at release, played around 150hours, had no bugs or other issues.
So no, I don’t feel like I was bitten. For me it was worth the money.
With the cataclysm I put another 50 hours into the game and had a blast.

So far no EA game has bitten me.

Count me lucky if you want.

Re: ANTHEM Comes to EA Access on PS4 Today

tatsumi

@Flaming_Kaiser
That’s absolutely fine.

Point is new players who get their “first impression” today, have a much more positive “first impression”. That also shouldn’t be taken away from those players just because you were bitten in the past.

Just saying.

Anthem is still not where it could have been, but it is slowly getting there.

Re: ANTHEM Comes to EA Access on PS4 Today

tatsumi

The cataclysm was very well received by the community. Not sure why PushSquare says it has not been well received. The amount of toxicity in reddit has dramatically been reduced because the Cataclysm. Simply because people like it.

I already got burned out by the loot chase but still spent around 50 hours or more into the cataclysm. It was quite a lot of fun.
And if BioWare stays on that road, there can be a turnaround.
Its weird that it is coming to EA Access right when we are in the last week of the cataclysm.
Most people won't be able to get most of it.

@KnightWolf
You might be positively surprised by the game and wondering "why all the hate?", which is how most people feel who just give it a try nowadays. Well, as long as you don't run into game breaking bugs that is.

The only thing Anthem is missing are a few more QOL improvements, a few more bug fixes and most of all more content.

Re: Round Up: Borderlands 3 Reviews Hit the Bullseye with Strong Scores

tatsumi

I am trying my luck at Borderlands 2 again, after I got kind of bored the first time around.
I like the humor, but the gunplay just felt lackluster, plus the game can drag quite a lot.
I just hope it gets better on higher level. The humor and characters are pretty much the only thing that keeps me going in the game.

Re: Control - Was Remedy's Return to PlayStation Worth the Wait?

tatsumi

Since I got it on PC I would be able to get it without the framerate issues. I just wonder if I have to run it on 4K/30fps with ray tracing enabled.

But more than anything I am happy to hear the story is good. Thats the main reason for the purchase. And the combat is a great bonus.
I guess I should end up quite happy.

Re: Poll: What Are Your Most Anticipated PS4 Games for the Rest of 2019?

tatsumi

Seeing Borderlands so far on rank 4, I feel quite bad for not being excited for it. I have no chance playing borderlands with friends, therefore I played Borderlands 2 solo and I got bored to hell with it.
The humor and characters I liked, but that was about it. Gunplay just didnt feel good after having played too much Destiny and other FPS with great gunplay.
Ah well... Maybe I will give it another chance someday.
But damn, Outer Worlds also releasing this year, which I totally forget. My wallet is already getting traumatized as it is.

@Mega-Gazz There is no FFVII (=7) in this poll. It is FFVIII (= 8). Thats the reason.

Re: ANTHEM Lead Producer Leaves BioWare

tatsumi

Well, Ben Irving was one of the reasons SWTOR and ANTHEM went bad in certain aspects. He is very bad at listening to the community.

But yeah, I wonder now what happens next. I hope they get a new and better lead producer.
The cataclysm has been a very good update, and hopefully there is more to come

Re: Days Gone Patch 1.07 Released Following Reported Crashing Issues

tatsumi

I ended up uninstalling before finishing, even though I was very close to the end.

It’s probably the most unpolished game yet from Sony, and other than the technical issues, it’s just so super generic with a terrible protagonist.
The only thing I enjoyed was the stealth action and making zombies and my human enemies fight each other. Plus the graphics.

Re: Poll: Did You Buy Days Gone? And Are You Enjoying It?

tatsumi

Around 15 hours in. I have big trouble liking Deacon, he represents almost everything I dislike in a protagonist. But other than that I enjoy it. Won’t win any awards though. It’s kind of missing something special.

But the graphics are amazing as usually expected from a first party game.

Re: Guide: Best PS4 RPGs

tatsumi

I just jumped back in to FFXIV after almost one year of a break. I totally forgot what an amazing game that is, which has great story lines (Heavensward being one of the best story lines I have played) and one of the best soundtracks (it holds the Guiness record for “longest end credits in an MMO game and most original pieces of music in a videogame“)
