Ah yes, BioWare is still trying to keep its failed looter-shooter alive. ANTHEM is dead in the water, but in an effort to keep its tiny community engaged, the former Mass Effect developer has issued an update on its blog pertaining to what lies ahead of the game. The problem is, head of live service Chad Robertson doesn't actually announce or even hint at anything for the future whatsoever.
With the title "What is next for ANTHEM", you'd expect some sort of content reveal to be included. Robertson discusses the feedback received from the title's recent Cataclysm event, before taking a deep dive into the road ahead.
In order to address these long-range plans, we are moving away from the Acts structure for updates. Instead, we have additional seasonal updates planned for this year that we think players will enjoy. These events will deliver challenges and chases similar to what you’ve seen, and are built around some fun themes we’re bringing to the game.
He wraps up by stating: "So I don’t have any news today to share about the long-term changes we are bringing to Anthem." What? You've just made a blog post with a title that states you'll be revealing what's next for ANTHEM, and that is how you sign off? Wow. What makes things all the more troubling is that the details provided prior to that are incredibly vague -- with simple "additional seasonal updates" apparently on the way. Come on BioWare, put the final nail in this coffin and focus on Dragon Age 4.
You're not playing ANTHEM, are you? Discuss the latest, successful looter shooter in the comments below.

Anthem was and is absolutely terrible. A desolate shell of a game.
I’m not even slightly excited about Dragon Age 4 anymore after everything that’s went down with Mass Effect: Andromeda and ANTHEM.
@JesWood13. I am.im extremely excited for dragon age 4.dragon age inquisition is one of the best games ever.word up son
This game and their devs is such Hot Garbage
So basically take as much money as they can while promising nothing and then shut down.
"Fun" Events like unlimited legend showers and challenges like who can get the most for cataclysm 2's world destroying event before they shut down for good.
@playstation1995 oh no. It was a single player mmo. Big. Empty. Soulless experience imo. The 1st Dragon age is still the best
All this drama and controversy surrounding the game is more entertaining than the game itself 👏
haha typical corporate bs msg. this is exactly kinda s*** they released before Andromeda final patch and stopped supporting it. they will just keep small team to keep tweaking this bs failure of game and make rest of studio working on new games. after this much of bs i am not even looking forward to dragon age game, from hero to zero.
anyone noticed how everything EA touches turns to absolute pile of dog sh** . bioware, dice............... soon respawn.
@HailHydra97 I Think The Thing About Andromeda is That For All of Its Prb's People Were Still Excited About Potential Dlc For That Game And Were More Then Willing To Walt. But Anthem Is a Whole Different Story
@JesWood13
Agreed. They are crazy if they think I will be buying the next Dragon Age.
I saw this the other day at GameStop when I went to pick up BL3 and it was $20 brand new.
@playstation1995 I mean, I too was a big fan of Inquisition and really enjoyed my time with it. However, I honestly don’t think BioWare have learned a damn thing from their mistakes and I’m almost positive that the next Dragon Age is gonna be a mess we don’t want any part of, especially if the live service rumors are true, then definitely count me out. Not playing Anthem w/ dragons, that’s not Dragon Age to me.
I remember the days when Bioware was one of the most respected devs in the industry! Now they are a joke company and the controversies with their games is far more entertaining and rewarding than actually playing their recent games.
Just play borderlands 3 instead. I know Gearbox is behind it but at least the game is fun and is getting free updates
@Areus same, I actually enjoy Andromeda and I knew if the game kept getting updates it would turn out to be a great game. It just makes me sad to see what bioware has become
@jFug Anthem was a service and not a game. These companies are using gaming as a medium to distribute gambling, services and microtransactions. People really need to understand that. There is no benefit to the consumer for products like Anthem or Fallout 76 etc.
Just let it die and concentrate on dragon age 4 bioware.
@Envy Andromeda is a terrible game. You may like it, but its mediocre. The devscdid not even want to make it and it shows.
@wiiware DA4 would be trash too. DA:I was just an average game, nothing memorable. Honestly, after ME2 Bioware went downhill. A lot of people are just holding on to those glory days and don't want to except the reality.
@GodGamer I know it's a Medicore game but it could've become a much better game if they sticked with it.
Gave up after cataclysm ended up being a joke. They should have just made a single player RPG. Art is great and so are some of the mechanics.
Having tons of fun with Borderlands. Just Wait for Dragon Age.
Such a shame, may as well just make it f2p and just update with maintenance. Really is a waste of time trying to revive it at this point.
They need a win so they should remaster there great games from the 2000s like the 1st dragon age and jade empire
Just came to say that I loved the title.
Anthem has actually sold well in the US, 5th best selling game this year. Doesn't make it good and I'd imagine not many are playing it now. This blog from Bioware is nonsense though, how can you call it whats next for Anthem and then literally don't say anything about whats next for Anthem?!?
I love anthem but damn this blog article of chad obviously invites backlash. Why even write anything in first place if you have nothing to share.
Bioware/EA should remaster the Mass Effect trilogy complete with DLC included. This should appease fans and help mend their shattered reputation. I'm still playing the first one and I see why the ME series is loved.
Drop that stinker like a hot potato and concentrate onwhat people actually want to play. GOOD GAMES!
@Kidfunkadelic83
I think the big problem is that nobody trusts them to make good games anymore.
@Areus i am one of them who waited for dlc even though i disliked ea for its shady practices and stopped buying ea products i broke my own rule and bought Andromeda[huge fan of mass effect series] imagine the disappointment story is avg for all we can say its just poorly written mass effect 1 remake. combat is good better than any in series so its easy for devs to fix issues and make more content. anthem on other hand basic stuff itself is broken something that cannot be fixed or takes too long.
@Nyne11Tyme. Dragon age inquisition is the best.word up son
This game isn't even worth paying £4 for EA Access to play
Just concentrate on Dragon Age 4. Maybe Spiders will come out with another RPG down the road, sequel to Greedfall? They were bought by Big Ben.
@Areus
Why are you writing like that, beginning so many words with a capital letter?
@BrettAwesome Lets Just Say I Like The Way Capital Letters Look But Hey At Least I Don't Write Every Letter In Caps Now That Would Be Something.
BioWare: "Here's what's next for Anthem!"
The remaining 5 fans: "Oooooohhhh! Tell us! TELL US!"
BioWare: "Nothing! Thanks for the money, suckers!"
It'll probably be a second Cataclysm which is very similar to the first, but with a different colour filter applied.
