Re: Sony Plans to Convert PC Gamers Through the Power of PlayStation

tatsumi

I think it’s a sound strategy.

PC players who really start liking the franchises may end up getting a PS5 so they can play those day one.

And those on PC who still don’t bother with a PS5 but like the franchises will still buy them, so Sony gets more software sales.

I think as a company that is mostly focused on consoles, this seems like the right strategy to try and solve two issues at the same time. Getting more console sales but also getting more software sales.

Re: Helldivers 2 PC Is Getting Review Bombed Over PSN Requirement

tatsumi

Oh no! Sony steals my gaming related data!
It will destroy my life if that data is leaked! /s

What I do understand though is the whole account creation process being quite annoying. Especially if it ends up just being one game I play that requires me to set up a whole account. If the entire process could be simplified, such as using Steam data to automatically create a PSN account with the approval of the user, it would be less painful.

I also didn’t play certain games when it forced me to create an account just to play those. But the reason is just how painful the sign up process sometimes is. I just want to jump in and play.

In regards to countries that don’t have PSN. I feel they should then simply not require PSN. Or could have some kind of “global offshore” type of PSN account that doesn’t hold any personal data.

Re: Stellar Blade's PS5 User Score Keeps Getting Higher and Higher

tatsumi

I’m playing the game purely because it is enjoyable. I am married with children. I couldn’t care less about how sexy the protagonist looks like.
I also don’t have an issue with the voice acting. Some characters sounds strange but I can live with it. I just accept it as character traits.

The world though is interesting enough to be explored. The side quests are super simple but enjoyable and rewarding in a few ways. Exploration is also very rewarding. Story is interesting enough for me albeit very predictable. The only other game I enjoyed to this degree was Ghost of Tsushima. A game doesn’t have to be objectively great in all the separate components for a high user score. It only has to be simply enjoyable as a game.
I wish we had more games like stellar blade. Instead we get more and more unnecessarily bloated experiences instead of being enjoyable in simple ways.

Re: Not Everyone Is in Love with Dragon's Dogma 2 on PS5

tatsumi

I quite like it. Yeah it has only a few different enemy types, but I also played Destiny for a long time with all the same types of enemies for years. I think I will be fine. I see this as “realistic”, since in the real world we also don’t got many types of fauna within a British-looking region.

It definitely scratches that ADVENTURE itch, where I find myself exploring a lot.

Re: Capcom Increases Starting Salary of Employees in Japan by Around 25%

tatsumi

Capcom HQ is in Osaka.
And for Osaka living standards the starting salary is a bit below the average (average approx 4-4.5M yen per year or 333300-375000 per month).
So I would say that’s not too bad for Japanese standards.

Also a Big Mac here is ¥480.
When 2 people earn that kind of salary, they can easily afford their own house depending on the area in Osaka (there are great choices that set you back 40-70M).

Just to give a perspective. The salary is nothing crazy, but I’m sure senior devs earn pretty well at Capcom.

Source: I live in Osaka since 8 years.

Re: Poll: Are You Playing Final Fantasy 16?

tatsumi

While playing the game, I can very easily imagine how the same game would have worked with the old school top down 2D gameplay. Of course round based combat wouldn’t be as flashy, but would have worked.

This means to me this is indeed a Final Fantasy Game. The only thing lacking I feel is the exploration, and a bit more camaraderie. That’s one of the very few things FF15 did well with its bromance.

But overall I’m very happy and this might so far be my favorite game of this year.

Re: Sony Will Have More PS5 Presentations This Year, Sources Say

tatsumi

I don’t really need Sony to show me anything. I already know what most studios are working on and I know they will give us enough bangers.

But I think Sony needs to tell potential buyers why they better buy a PlayStation. So holding back on announcements can hurt that.

I just wonder when PSVR will be worth it. I’m still waiting for an absolute must-have title on the levels of Alyx.

Re: Final Fantasy 16 Gets Another Really Good Trailer, But No PS5 Demo Yet

tatsumi

@3Above seems about right. back in March it was reported the demo would be out 2 weeks before release. So 11th roughly June fits in there.

You don’t want people play the demo a month earlier, then forget all the controls, then carry over their demo progress, and have them somehow relearn it with a steeper curve.

Re: Poll: Was This Sony's Best PlayStation Showcase Yet?

tatsumi

The main problem I think was that it was all predictable.
Maybe if we knew nothing about MGS3 remaster, it would have hit hard.

Disappointed in what Haven showed what seems to be a generic PVP live service game.

Spider-man is great but completely expected.
At least one PS5 exclusive surprise that is not a GaaS would have been great.

Re: Sony Wants to Make PlayStation the Best Place to Play Third-Party Games

tatsumi

It kind-of is already. The games so far often run smoothest on PS5 (probably since it is most of the times the primary target for devs), and DualSense is another reason to play on PS5.
I often check what platform a game runs best on (got high-end PC, XSX and PS5), and I most of the times end up with PS5 due to best optimization and/or DualSense support.

Re: Hands On: Crunchy Combat Shines in PS5, PS4's Wildly Impressive The Callisto Protocol

tatsumi

“ Our only criticism at this stage, potentially specific to the chapter we played, is that the connective tissue between the combat encounters is a little rote. There’s nothing inherently wrong with it, but you’ve played this kind of campaign before: locked doors prompt deeper exploration and alternate paths, bringing you full circle while you seek out a key card or a pass code. It’s all largely linear, and while the game does keep you on your toes with set-piece moments, we didn’t see anything that structurally surprised us. ”

Honestly, Sci Fi horror games like Dead Space etc. are rare enough these days that such rehashed game design choices are completely fine with me.
