Re: E3 2018: Destiny 2: Forsaken Trailer Drops a Bit of a Bombshell

tatsumi

As much as I love this story reveal. Bungie has fooled me too many times before. They were always good with cinematics but fail upon the game itself. Destiny feels too much of Bungie experimenting non-stop.
I will hold out. There are enough more trustworthy games coming out around the same time.

I might only pick it up if I got nothing else to fill the gap until ANTHEM is out. BioWare at least has experience in story telling, MMORPGs and world building.

Re: E3 2018: ANTHEM Won't Have PvP, Can Be Played Single-Player, Is Always Online

tatsumi

@PS_Nation it’s more like monster hunter. You can head out alone, or you head out with matchmaking, or friends, or you join a session of some random player. But outside of that you won’t see other players running around if you are not in their game session.
Or like Diablo 3, where you don’t see other players unless you are part of their session/party.

Re: E3 2018: First Proper ANTHEM Gameplay Features Big Damage Numbers

tatsumi

@smelly_jr there will be decision making. There is still 8 months left of showing stuff. They shouldn’t spill out everything just yet.

@ShogunRok
To me it actually sounds more like Monster Hunter, have a central hub where a lot of the story and cutscenes are placed in. Go out alone or with a team, or jump into another player’s session, if made public.
Also choose your load out etc before you go as you can’t switch everything mid-mission. Even have your own kind of room you can spend time in.

Re: E3 2018: ANTHEM Won't Have PvP, Can Be Played Single-Player, Is Always Online

tatsumi

The multiplayer/coop part seems to be more like monster hunter. I think one issue with having other players jumping around could be that it might break immersion. Imagine you slowly walk through some dangerous area that just looks terrifying, and then you see another dude just jumping around as if it’s nothing.
I love the immersive world of monster hunter world, so if the experience will go into that direction, I am absolutely happy

Re: E3 2018: Activision's Bringing a Trio of Big PS4 Games to E3

tatsumi

Bungie will still have to work really hard to convince players.
Currently I am much more hyped about Anthem after reading a lot about it and seeing how close they already work with the community.

I am definitely looking forward to seeing Spyro again from the above lineup. Childhood days reignited.

Re: Big, Promising Destiny 2 Changes Coming with Forsaken Expansion This September

tatsumi

Okay so I watched the whole stream and the impression I got from the game director and project lead is that they don’t seem to care much about the story and the world. They seem to care more about guns and ”shooting aliens in their face”.
I dont have time for games that feel like wasting my time just shooting around without good reasons. Let’s see what the E3 will show us about the story part.
Currently I am looking more forward to Anthem because in the videos and discussions with BioWare they mentioned more about the world and the story, not much about shooting monsters in their face. Although they didn’t show the story, they at least mention it, whereas Bungie just talks about guns and shooting aliens.

Re: Guide: When Is Bethesda's E3 2018 Press Conference?

I love that PushSquare are the only ones giving me the JST time. Living in japan i always have to convert the time zones because most events are just announced with their PST timezone, almost ignoring the rest of the world. Thank you PushSquare!

Re: The Future of Destiny 2 Will Be Revealed Next Week

tatsumi

I liked D2's campaign more than D1. There was at least something to experience unlike D1 just running around not having any idea WTF is going on and having to read lore in grimoire cards.

Warmind is actually quite nice in some aspects. It has quite a bit of interesting lore to it, but it is short and felt mostly like Bungie just trying to quickly get to a certain point, rushing the story etc.

Let's see now what this brings. I still play destiny, because there is really nothing much else out there for me until Anthem will come out. I also got myself an Xbox One X now so I could play the HALO series and this is also where I realized many common things between HALO and Destiny, but also where HALO is superior to Destiny. We will finally see if that bungie community summit actually tackled the glaring issues with the game or if Bungie really just doesn't care about the story and PVE part of the game at all.

Re: Review: Detroit: Become Human (PS4)

tatsumi

I usually avoid games rated below 8, but there are exceptions (this is one of them).
I am a big sucker when it comes to cyberpunk and similar. On metacritic, when you look at user ratings, you see that people seem to like it more than the reviewers.
This is simply a game that divides people’s opinion. Some want gameplay, some want stories. To me a visual novel is a game and whoever forces more gameplay on it is wrong in this genre. So far I have spent several hours into this game and I am still completely hooked. I like the characters, the visuals are incredible (another slap at the more powerful Xbox one x, that has no games properly using its power, just showing that good developers make up for the lesser power of the PS4 Pro).
I got the deluxe version, so I will also enjoy the soundtrack and art book.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 220

tatsumi

Got back to all the games that were not considered good games.
Played Destiny 2 Warmind, doing my first raids and enjoyed it a lot. Yes they still got a lot to learn, I am hoping for them to reveal the September dlc at E3.
Got No Mans Sky and enjoyed it so far playing the atlas path. Still a bit weird though with the wildlife sometimes looking really weird.
And now playing Battlefront 2 once again. It is far more enjoyable now and I love the Ewok Hunt

Re: God of War Patch 1.15 Brings Yet More Bug Fixes and Improvements

tatsumi

I only noticed 2 things that have been fixed since the original version. One is that the game crashed my whole PS4 when I tried to come back from stand by.
Another is an animation where Kratos grabs a humanoid enemy, smashes him down and squashed his head with his foot. In the first versions, the head and foot placements were off and it looked strange why the head would explode. Now the foot is really on the head and destroying it.

But that’s it. I hope they slowly stop with this fixing. I sometimes just want to play.

Re: Torbjörn's Daughter Brigitte Joins the Battle in Overwatch

tatsumi

@Tasuki while this is true, it is also fact that there have been some PVE modes in arcade.
It would be simply great to have some more consistent PVE updates in that format. It does not have to be the focus per se, but would be great as a bonus to get. Currently for instance there is just the CTF map in arcade. Since they already did such things with Junkenstein and Uprising, why not keep it up and make it more consistent

Re: 'People Ask for Story-Based Games, But Don't Necessarily Buy Them'

tatsumi

I really have absolutely NO problem paying for loot boxes or DLCs or any other type of transaction, AS LONG as it is not some greedy "in-your-face" kind of thing. The "in-your-face" thing may be fine for free-to-play games, but not for games you already pay 60-100$.

EA is a very good example of how NOT to do it. Blizzard is a very good example of how it can be done.

And I really like to support developers by paying money for loot boxes or whatever, as long as the game has quality.
For example Destiny 2 I am simply disappointed. I really liked the story arc, but once that was done, everything went the same way as Destiny 1. I think people generally don't really have a problem with such systems, as long as the game itself doesn't feel like some unfinished money-grabbing-only kind of thing.

Re: Hands On: Sky on iOS Sees Journey's Multiplayer Spread Its Wings

tatsumi

I got it via TestFlight invitation. So far it feels as interesting as Journey was. Its almost as if it is just a different race of "people" living in the same world, but a different part, with a different story.

AND it looks damn beautiful (at least on the iPhone X and I guess at means also iPhone 8).

Re: Sony's Robot Dog Draws Crowds at CES 2018

tatsumi

@Cowboysfan-22 Here in Japan there are only 3% of apartments that allow cats for example. Unless you actually buy something, it is incredibly hard to get a house/apartment which allows pets, especially newer constructions. I see this kind of robot as an alternative. Also I don't think that Sony expects to sell a lot of them. This is probably more of some other way to fund the R&D behind all that other stuff they are working on. On the presentation, you could tell that Aibo is just a small part of some big plans towards AI and machine learning throughout many industries.

Re: Sony Shocked by Death Stranding's Progress, Further Announcements Planned

tatsumi

@KirbyTheVampire "fast pace" doesn't mean we get it "too early", it simply means that the development is going very well and smoothly, maybe due to good project management and tools. It doesn't mean the game will be unfinished or something.

What I find funny is that for Konami it always took too long and they didn't support Hideo building a huge game therefore. But in Sony's eyes it is the opposite reaction.

Re: PlatinumGames' PS4 Exclusive Granblue Game Is Lookin' Good

tatsumi

@Th3solution I'm living in Japan and all I can say is that they love to exaggerate in this kind of thing. They may say "wooooow", but that might be only scripted by the show or wherever it is shown. These kind of "fake emotions" is even pissing my wife off, who is japanese herself. Its simply a form of manipulating the emotions of the audience.

Re: Capcom Planning Free Monster Hunter: World Content Updates After Launch

tatsumi

@Chronicus_Pr1me Well I think in terms of FFXV they almost have to do this. Because Nomura f-ed up the development of FFXIII, there was no time anymore to release the full game rectified on deadline. Instead, we are now gradually getting the missing story pieces one after another.
I would really suggest SE not handing over any big projects to Nomura again. He is good, but he is also far too costly.

@topic I would have expected free updates. I mean how else will you keep people playing the game once they have hunted down all the monsters? At some point, there has to be some minor free DLC at least. But I would be more than happy to pay for a nice big DLC.

Re: PSX 2017: Sony Commits to Single Player, Jokes About Service Games

tatsumi

@Th3solution "Why the gaming community went ape over SWBF2 but yet embraced Overwatch and Rocket League, I’m not sure".

To me it is pretty clear, I am not sure how somebody can be not sure about it:
Overwatch = Microtransactions add a nice side thing in terms of cosmetics, logos, voices etc.
Battlefront 2 = Microtransactions are not a nice-to-have, they are too prominent, too "in your face" and were at least for a short time too much P2W.

EA simply doesn't know how to do Microtransactions in a non-greedy way. I personally have no issues with Microtransactions, but in Battlefront it felt too much like a god damn chore.
I am far more motivated trying to get cosmetics (and even paid some money for it) on Overwatch, but I am totally held back on Battlefront.
When a game is really great, do feel like spending more money on "individualizing" your character. But Battlefront it is more of a "must" to spend money (in-game or real currency). I am more than happy to support developers by spending more money on the game, but what EA is doing, I just won't support.

Re: Review: Destiny 2: Curse of Osiris (PS4)

tatsumi

To ease my hunger for shooting I have now switched to just playing Overwatch, which is a hell lot of fun. I enjoyed the Story of Destiny 2, but I will not buy this expansion and I hope many won't. It has to hurt in order for Bungie to make a change.

Instead, I will have me some Monster Hunter Beta and will hope that it will replace the spot Destiny once had as an "every day" game.

Re: Sony: We Can't Ignore the Nintendo Switch

tatsumi

@RicoLico I always buy a Nintendo Console, but really only because of the exclusives. I don't care much about that it is portable (although I love the fact that it is) or has awkward controls (Wii/Wii U). It is the only console I can have fun with my wife playing. I even bought a second Nintendo Switch only so I can play Splatoon with her.

Re: The Reaction to Destiny 2's First Expansion Hasn't Been All That Positive

tatsumi

Bought destiny 2 mainly because of the story, enjoyed it, but won’t buy the expansion. I hoped this "guided games" thing would help also to get me more into raids and night falls. Instead, it has been a pain. Either the clan I am playing with are morons or I can't even get into a group. In the rare instance where everything is going well, I did not even communicate via microphone at all.

Bungie is too much playing big mama. I am getting really sick of their behaviour about matchmaking.
I am now hoping that Monster Hunter will get me a bit into "social playing" without stupid design decisions a la Bungie.

Re: Review: Star Wars Battlefront 2 (PS4)

tatsumi

I can just hope that Disney soon reconsiders and have somebody else do star wars games. While I did enjoy the single player campaign, it was nothing special (I expected something more like Rogue One) and felt a lot like trying to sell me what will come with multiplayer. Always just a bit of talk and battle, throwing you from one battle into the next.
