Housemarque lifted the lid on its upcoming roguelite third-person shooter Saros, revealing gameplay for the first time, and it's only about six months away.
It turns out the Finnish studio isn't working on the game alone; fellow PS Studios team Nixxes has been supporting development.
The studio confirmed its involvement on social media:
Nixxes is helping out on "key elements of art and gameplay" in Saros, the studio confirms.
The developer is typically renowned as a PC specialist, with the majority of its duties thus far being related to porting Sony's first-party games to PC.

However, Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered was Nixxes' "first big PlayStation content project", meaning it was the team's first title with real creative input.
It seems as though Saros is the next step in its evolution; while Housemarque will be leading the charge, Nixxes is supporting in some important aspects.
It looks like the studio is expanding its talents from mainly PC porting to a more rounded and creatively capable developer.
Having said that, we expect Nixxes' involvement with Saros will only serve to make the inevitable PC release that much smoother when the time comes.

I was hoping they would get expert help from "Build A Rocket Boy".

@Oram77 Ooooo nice, what a great collaboration that would have been.
@Czar_Khastik The world is simply not ready for the collaboration (play first on your PS9)
Makes me wonder if they are already preparing a PC Port - whether it releases the same day or not, I wouldn't be surprised if that is why Nixxes are involved.
@Oram77 Please don't use the number 9 🤡🤡
The game looks so smooth! Great to hear Nixxes are involved to add that extra layer of polish.
Come on Housemarque. Why are you using the UE5 for this..? Everyone and their mom knows UE5 runs like sh*t on consoles. Everyone knows UE5 + PSSR is a bad combination that simply doesn‘t work together, period.
I hope the plague of the current-gen consoles dies quickly
Maybe it's a day 1 release on PC as well, thanks to Nixxes' support?
@Cerny Maybe that's why Nixxes have been pulled into shore up the performance. Butt clenching shooters like this demand a near locked 60, no hitching or traversal stutter. Let's hope that they're one of the few to come away unscathed by using UE5.
Great!
And on the same "what are the PS studios cooking these days" subject, what about Bluepoint... not even a peep after the live service title they were working on got canned. Since they (hopefully) didn't get disbanded, maybe they've got something in the works.
@Shinnok789 remaking demon souls for ps6
@Czar_Khastik @Oram77 Y'all kid, but Concord was legit one of the smoothest UE5 games I've ever played, even in its beta form. Whatever problems I had with Firewalk, their tech work with UE5 was stellar.
@RBMango You are absolutely correct, from what I heard from people who actually played it, the game play was actually really well polished.
@RBMango I actually thought the game looked vibrant, smooth and crisp, but unfortunately it just wasn't meant to be.
@Czar_Khastik @Oram77 I played the betas on both PS5 and PC, and never once encountered a bug, server crash, or framerate hitch. That's incredible, especially for an engine as infamously problematic as UE5. I hope Sony poached the tech talent at Firewalk and integrated them into their other studios.
@RBMango I completely agree, mon ami Esquie.
@RBMango Sony would be fools to lose alot of that talent, for sure.
@Oram77 if only they listened to criticism of the character designs I think the game could've had a real shot. But man those characters were forgettable as heck.
@TrollOfWar it's not day 1 PC, but it will almost guarantee that the PC port is a good one. Expect to see it on PC earliest in mid-late 2027 or early 2028
Nixxes is the kind of studio that i don't care about, since they only port stuff to PC and the only thing they ever done on PS5 was that Horizon Remastered which was far from perfect when it launched. I just hope they don't ***** up the game on PS5
@Oram77 They should create a Suicide Squad of all of these disgraced developers to reboot a new Suicide Squad game.
