Ghost of Yotei looks set to be a bit of a blockbuster in Japan, as its initial sales figures have just been revealed.
According to the latest Famitsu software charts (as reported by Gematsu), the PS5 exclusive shot straight to number one, shifting 120,196 copies.
As always, it should be pointed out that these Japanese charts only count physical sales, and so it's assumed that you can at least double that figure when taking digital transactions into account.
Topping 100,000 sales at retail in Japan these days is not easy, unless you're a tentpole Nintendo title or a mainline Dragon Quest or Monster Hunter release.

For Yotei to achieve this — in a region where Sony so often struggles to compete — is pretty damn impressive.
The sequel's obviously following in Ghost of Tsushima's footsteps. You may recall that Jin Sakai's bloodthirsty adventure broke records in Japan; it had the best ever launch of any first-party PS4 game, and went on to sell over 1 million copies.
For comparison's sake, Tsushima almost doubled Yotei's total on release, moving 222,000 units back in 2020.
However, various factors need to be considered: Tsushima benefitted from launching during the pandemic, and even just five years ago, digital sales weren't as dominant as they are now.
If you're looking for an even more eye-opening comparison, Assassin's Creed Shadows, which released in March of this year, registered just 17,700 retail sales on PS5.
Ubisoft's open worlder certainly didn't have the kind of marketing push that Yotei has enjoyed, but the gulf in sales indicates just how well-liked Sucker Punch's series seems to be in Japan.
