You are not getting any remasters of a new game, but how about a God of War-branded PS5 controller? To celebrate 20 years of the series, a DualSense pad featuring Krato's iconic red marking will be made available.
The controller will release on 23rd October 2025, and pre-orders open on 3rd October. It'll cost £74.99 / $84.99.
On the PlayStation Blog, art director Dela Longfish said:
When we were deciding how best to embody the series, we immediately thought the form of the controller lent itself perfectly to Kratos’ omega tattoo. No matter which God of War game you’re playing, the shape of his red ink against the gray of his ash-covered skin is one of the most iconic elements of Kratos’ look across both Greek and Norse sagas. Our team made sure to represent both of these key tones in the color selection for the controller to make every aspect an authentic homage to the design that has defined Kratos for over two decades.
Will you pick up this PS5 controller to mark 20 years of God of War? Let us know in the comments below.

Cool, but where is the 2D God of War game? Are they saving that for a Game Awards announcement?
@Questionable_Duck I was hoping see that as well
Nope, Sony definitely needs to hire some better designers, this is not it.
In fact, this might be the worst of a series of lacklustre controller designs (ok, some were alright)
This is how they celebrate 20th anniversary? With a single red stripe lol.
I wish they had announced the 2.5D game in stead
Oh geez another controller that scalpers can swindle for double the cost of a normal dualsense 😬
God that is just so LAME... who tf designs these controllers?
Don't get me wrong, I like the design, but I would have much rather seen the 2.5D game or at least the 2 PS2 and 2 PSP God of War games for PlayStation Plus Premium.
Also they should have added his scar to the other side of the controller to fully mimic Kratos' face
There aren't many things that I think xbox does much much better than PS, but limited edition controller designs is something I think they do much better. The PS designs are just so bland to me...
Putting it kindly, this is awful.
God of War's 20th should have been celebrated months ago. This should have been for the 20th anniversary of Shadow of the Colossus next month.
They really are running out of ideas.
"Let's just slap a red marking on there."
I was holding my breath for a couple of seconds, the god of war controller was announced and directly after that a black screen and the PS studios logo flying in.
Booooy I thought the egypt GoW would be teased
Whoever is designing the look of these limited edition controllers at Playstation needs to be let go.
$85 for a red stripe is hilarious.
This controller looks so bland.
I'm kinda stunned by how lame it looks
It's a little too simple? Plus I already have the Ragnarok one, so... I might skip this. I dunno. Collecting them is fun but I already have like 4 special edition ones, not even counting the Ghost of Yotei one.
What a terrible looking controller.
Good gravy…
Awful and poor effort. Thankfully as I already have the 30th anniversary and gold Yotei controllers ordered. The Ragnarok one looks far better.
Just paint a red stripe on a standard controller and you made yourself this limited edition. The trailer for the GoW Metroidvania, that insiders and Push Square have been teasing for over a year now, looked amazing though! Oh wait....
*cough, lame, *cough cough
Hearing that music and Kratos voice at almost the end of the show and turns out it's just a controller without a new GoW game. Like come on Sony 😔
@LiamCroft So it’s basically an overpriced white controller with a red stripe. 🤦♂️
I would have needed a few guesses to have got it's the God of War controller.
Would have went for a football team, maybe Ajax lol
Some illustration from each game on it would have been better, the key weapons or something...
Edit: The stripe doesn't really match his omega tattoo - it should keep going diagonal and not cut back.
Meh.
I feel like the red mark should have cut diagonally across, including the touch pad. Don't really love this design tbh.
Incredibly low effort for a premium priced controller. This is a 10 dollar upcharge for a red stripe.
You know what could've been a great way to celebrate? How about releasing the first two GOW games that started it all on current gen!
Literally have a PS2 Classics emulation but don't want to use it....also have Bluepoint & a PS3 HD Collection they could've reworked much like Bluepoint brought Uncharted trilogy to PS4 back in the day!🙄 But Hermen does find money to blow on failed live service games?!🤯
It's about middle of the road for the GoW themed controllers. Better than the awful one for Ascension and the lame one for '18 (the custom PS4 Pro it came with was gorgeous), but below the Ragnarok controller.
My favorite efforts are still the PSP's. The red one with Kratos face on the battery plate for CoO and the black with red buttons and highlights for GoS, were pretty darn good.
@-Sigma- starting with the design of the ps5, it's all been wrong in so many ways this gen
@Questionable_Duck This years game awards is Dec 11th. Thats only 2 1/2 months from now. So state of plays are prob over and the next reveals will be at the awards show. You would think its got to be shown there. I hope the next look at intergalactic as well. I think Wolverines Fall 26' release window confirmed Intergalactic is gonna be a '27 game
I see it and I understand the reference in design, but this is as lazy as it gets don’t get me wrong I love a special edition controller when done right but you have to be a bit of a mug to buy a white controller with an stripe on it surely?
Very disappointing this is. God Of War is supposed to be a "crown-jewel" IP - and this is the best they can do, squish a red stripe on a regular controller and call it "limited edition" ??
I mean take for example the Gamesir G7 Pro Wuchang Fallen Feathers edition - that's how a "game-specific" custom gamepad is done properly!
TMR sticks, HE triggers, microswitch buttons and d-pad, 4 extra mappable buttons, removable faceplate, included charging stand, braided custom USB-C cable and 2 extra d-pad caps. And the fabulous overall design on the gamepad, stand and the cable!... And all that for 100$, about the same as a custom DS these days...
Take a look Sony, and a sh...ton of notes!
I have a God of War Controller for PS4 and Ragnarök for PS5. I will get this one for sure. I am a hardcore fan of GOW since 2005.
