Activision's super-powered action series Prototype could be making a comeback, if we're to believe conclusions drawn from updates to the game's PC version.
Both titles have received a new patch on Steam for the first time in years (ruining the mod that makes the games run properly in the process), and eagle-eyed fans have discovered some changes in their end credits.
A new section brings up work on a Ubisoft Connect version of the titles, something that doesn't appear to currently exist. Activision studios Beenox and Demonware also newly appear in the credits.
Perhaps most interesting, though, is the appearance of Iron Galaxy Studios, an independent team that most recently put out Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 + 4. It also has a history of porting titles to PC and development support.
These changes to the credits are signifying to many that work on a remaster or remake may be underway.
Obviously it's not totally conclusive proof, but it is quite strange to see such changes to the game's credits out of nowhere.
Additionally, a rumour from earlier in the year centred around a playtester claiming that a new Prototype game is in development.

Do part 2! It’s the better of the series.
Loved the OG games, especially the first, but they didn't age too well. A simple Remaster won't be sufficient to justify the costs and make a profit from it, and will certainly encounter backlash.
Remake or Reboot - best way to go if they want to revive this IP.
Otherwise just let it RIP.
@AhmadSumadi Agreed! Part 2 is definitely superior. I'd prefer a Prototype 3 the most! Or at least a full ReMAKE.
Comparing it to Infamous killed this game, just like how comparing Callisto Protocol to Dead Space killed it.
It was a fun action game, not one I'd care about playing again but I'd be up for another sequel as the concept could still be explored further
Okay back in the day but who’s really out there wanting a remaster of either of these?
@SamMR No the Callisto protocol’s gameplay and performance are what killed that game. The only reason it exists is because of its connection to dead space. Without that connection Callisto protocol wouldn’t even exist
i have zero excitement for any remasters
I really hope we get another Prototype. I'd even take a remaster of either game. Back when they released I really enjoyed them...
One of the most dour and po-faced games I've ever played.
@Toot1st That's a shame. Remasters are great. New IPs are great too, but given how insanely long it takes for a lot of developers to create new games I'm happy with the drip feed of remasters to keep things moving along... and who knows? Maybe they'll be granted a budget for Prototype 3
I'll take just a straight port, thanks. No need to go to great expense.
It would be really cool to play through the Prototype games again, it's been years since I've touched them.
There’s nothing wrong with the HD version of Prototype we got for the PS4 though, not sure if a current gen remaster is necessary
Man I've these games back in the day but I do worry if going back to them they might not play as good as I remember lol I was a teenager
It was fun , but i dont think many care for it
This game deserves a full remake.
@PloverNutter underrated game
Nothing like destroying everything than prototype. Soldiers, people, tanks all yum yum.
Hopefully it's true and a remake over just a remaster, and hopefully Prototype 2 is remade too. We already had the remasters on PS4.
I'd kill for a remaster of both games. Just as long they don't fumble them like what happened back in 2015...
Prototype is one of its kind type of game. One of my favourite hidden gems. Second part wasn't as good, but I would absolutely love the proper remakes.
Would love a sequel. The first was really good and the second improved basically all of the first games systems. Really impressive and in depth gameplay which still puts a lot of modern games to shame. Can't see a point in a remaster as they are already avaliable for ps5, a fresh coat of paint isn't gonna make me want to come back but ya, a sequel would be great.
It's because I've been playing it lately lol! It's actually a pretty good game. PS3 era was pretty awesome.
Will wait and see. I've got the games, not back compat for Xbox One/Series though I don't think but even still.
That aside it's a series that I think works, I need to give them that bit more time.
That aside we get this but not another Pitfall game for it's competition or ideas or clearly dead brand name, like why?
@ItsAlwaysSunnyyy once ive played a game im done never have any intention of playing again there's too many new ones for me to play
Still some of my favorite locomotion in games. I'd love to see them updated.
Since Sony has seemingly abandoned the InFamous games I guess the only thing we will ever get that is similar is the Prototypes. It would be great to get both games remastered and hopefully get some hype for a third one!
