I'd love that. I found the first two games a little janky in the combat and movement departments, but nothing that couldn't be smoothed over. I'd definitely buy that. Second Son and First Light were excellent once they clicked.

Quake Arcane Dimensions and Doom Eviternity w some mood mods. Probably some Twilight Princess and Wipeout.

@Northern_munkey welp, Bethesda publishes them, and Quake is on this list. It was a real good try though.

Quake and Quake 2 will be installed on every console they are available on from now on. Those two games gave me eons of the best fps out there.

I just want a real performance patch for Tainted Grail. Reinstalling Oblivion just to see if the patch fixes anything means I need to find 124 gigs and wait hours, which isn't really feasible when the PS5 is basically our entertainment center.

Yeah I don't know man I reinstalled after their latest update was supposed to help performance. It still seemed to have the same problems as when I was playing it at launch. I really just want Tainted Grail to get a decent performance patch. That game is incredible, but the framerate makes me nauseous.

@get2sammyb I wish that kind of thing didn't annoy me so much. Same thing w Danica Patrick in Racing Transformed. I'll definitely be grabbing it when I have the disposable income and if I ever get out of this Doom/Quake rabbit hole.

This is a better idea than the meme characters. That really turned me off to this game.

THUG and THPS3, PS2 and GCN. I'm not super into the story and missions of THUG, but the levels are brilliant so far.

@Dalamar to me that's like saying MK Armageddon or Trilogy are the best in the series.
There's definitely a chance that I will play 4 again and enjoy it more. Could be like Mega Man, where I played the games as they came out, so was pretty done with them when the fourth entry hit. They drove the games into the ground, and also I was a big arcade guy back then, and the changes made to the formula seemed to be sacrificed for arbitrary open world ish design. I will give it another chance.
I am going to play through THUG first, and attempt to get THUG Pro running through Winlator on the Retroid. I've only messed around w it for a bit.

I don't believe they'd do the game justice, and I'm betting that tons of details will be missing.

The GameCube version of 3 is good enough for me, so I went with that. I'll grab this on a sale. That music is important.
4 was where I decided to drop out of the series. The world was empty and bland. I am interested to see how the changes they've made affect my feelings about that game. I do wish it had been ported faithfully, even if I think it's pretty bad.

It's crazy that Arkane is probably cooked just for being an XBOX studio. I was actually pretty excited when I thought XBOX bought all these studios to make a bunch of great exclusive games. I wanted an actual competition. We can disparage "console wars" and exclusives all day, but I think this gen shows we are better off with a real competition.

I can't think of this game as an fps. It feels too bad to actually play the game. As an RPG it's great though.

@Nalim never really understood it outside of bragging rights or something. I don't even know how to look them up on my PS5. Sometimes a clever or difficult one will pop and it makes me smile...but I pretty much immediately forget about it, lol.

@spakai honestly my PS5 is almost entirely for PS4 games. There's just more great stuff to play.

Doom mods on the Retroid, Doom TDA on the PS5.
Probably some PS2 racers.
Also, I heard that the Switch 2 GC games have like 8 frames of lag, so I decided to get Fzero GX on my Retroid. Runs perfectly.

Two gens now of XBOX flailing and missing over and over again. Hey they got their hands in a lot of pockets, monthly, though, and that's what matters. I'm done.

John Romero is my hero, so I'm taking this a little harder than most. If you have never read Doom Guy, I recommend it. Especially if you had it a little rough growing up and found solace in games (when games were a lot more niche). It's such an awful industry for workers.

@nomither6 2008 housing crash was really tough, but it's not like I can afford a home these days either. I don't make crazy money, but around $70 a year w a VA loan and still not a possibility.

@Legacy2K that new Sam Sho is legit. I just wish it were a bit of a smaller game. I don't like keeping up w DLC.

Yeah I've mostly retired to seventh gen and prior, so I'm good. It's kept me very happy recently to not be part of all the modern stupidity. I believe games are better than ever, and that "gaming" is about one thousand times more cynical. In any case, we've definitely lost something along the way..

@nomither6 i think MW was 2007 or so, amazing year for games. I was managing a Game crazy, and we played that, Halo, and Rock Band in my friend group when we were partying. Theeeeen, after I was in the Army for a few years, MW was just a reminder of how sh*t the world could be.

@SuntannedDuck2 Shadow Wars is great. Doorkickers is an interesting take on old-school R6 from an overhead perspective. I like it well enough.

Im less interested in realism than how open ended the missions are.

@nomither6 They just need to fix the stealth, combat, missions, and most every other facet of the gameplay! Ironically, the graphics and audio are about the only things that have held up.
