@zekepliskin I suggest a Super Pocket. The Evercade carts are compatible, and come with great cases and manuals. It has been pretty great so far.

@PercyChuggs I think most of us would prefer that. At least the attitude wasn't so crass about enthusuast hobbies that we all just spoke like some empty suit, ie "consumers." Sounds miserable.
Games are better than ever but "hard-core gamers" have gotten to be such poe-faced sourpusses. Like spread sheets and algorithms are the only thing guiding this thing we do because it is fun.

Obviously the quality of physical goods wasn't up to snuff, and that part is on LRG...but these are not the most discerning people out there.

@PercyChuggs so you have a PC, Sony is winding down releases there, and now you are here projecting because you don't get all the toys you want. Truly the savior we need.

@PercyChuggs if something is out of my price range and there's no way to get it otherwise, I just emulate it or move on. There's too many things I missed to get hung up on some white whale and spend a ton of money.

Looking more and more likely that I will be dropping out of modern gaming, again. I am having a better time playing small games and filling in the backlog. The other night I was cycling through my games on PS5 and just striving to feel anything at all. Pretty emo for a 44 year old giant dude with kids. But really. It's all too cynical and especially so when you remember the lies and BS that got us here, and how good we had it.

I mean sure? But the game should be Metroid Dread quality. It ain't that. Seems like Sony just stopped being weird and I don't know why. They're so boring now. I say it all the time here, but my PS5 is mostly for PS4 games.
I also just don't sympathize with publishers crying about how expensive games are. I don't need raytracing,120 fps 4K. If they started producing PS2s again I would buy one immediately, memory cards and all.
It's all about their drive to make a game that we never stop playing instead of creating something, releasing it, and moving on.

That Toxic Commando game sure looks like a lot of running backwards and shooting zombies...

@Max_the_German I have a PS5 and a Switch but I don't really see them as competition. I would love to see Sony do a handheld that directly competed with Nintendo. They would definitely need to step things up and diversify.

Second Son was my first PS4 game, and it still looks incredible.

The characters popping in ten feet in front of me is what took me out of the game. I just don't see the point of having giant crowds if they are constantly ruining the suspension of disbelief.

@AtlasLivesAgain I understand the argument that tearing down 4 and plugging it into the previous remakes' framework is hack, but they DID rework a lot of stuff.
I think both should have been available. On the other hand, I played them as they came out and 4 lost me, lol.

I just hope whoever is remastering them understands how much fans adore these games. Nowhere near perfect, but none of my favorite things are.

@AtlasLivesAgain they could have done free-roam, they just decided not to. I personally wish both were included but prefer the arcade style.

I think the atmosphere is wonderful, and the nihilistic tone is intriguing...but this is a Quake household, sir.
I hope it does well, and wish there was single-player.

No. No it will not be.

I still play this on my Retroid. It isn't perfect, but it's fun enough. The Donut mod is rad. The Simpsons were always at their best on Halloween, and Donut mod let's you play in the fall. That was enough for me to check it out.

The festival environment of this game is as off-putting as the "urban street" settings of other racers. I want nothing to do with a story about rising through the ranks to become a racing icon. In Wipeout or Daytona or Ridge Racer, you also play as a nobody, and I like that it stays that way. Things get less cringe.

@Nintendough yeah. But how they made the character both Billy and Jimmy was a fun way to tie-in some Double Dragon lore.

@Northern_munkey Yeah man I dont know that response seems myopic. I have had every Sony console, and the PS5 is almost exclusively used for PS4 games (and the kids with Fortnite, Goat Sim, Minecraft, Teardown, and TABS). I have more exclusive games on my Vita.

Cave Story on Mega Drive, Far Cry Primal PS5, and Motorstorm Arctic Edge on PSP.
