Battlefield 6's Open Beta Has Completely Blown Up 1

Battlefield 6’s open beta has blown up.

On Steam, the only platform we get public player numbers, the test’s attracted a peak concurrent of 521k players at the time of writing, making it one of the top three titles on the platform.

Now obviously the beta’s free to download, which can help, but not every open beta attracts numbers quite like this. Without wanting to rub salt into the wound, just ask Concord

Of course, these Steam numbers only give us a small piece of the picture. We don’t know how well the test’s doing on the PS5, but the game is currently the most pre-ordered release on the PS Store in North America (and behind only EA Sports FC 26 in Europe).

While the Battlefield fanbase does tend to skew towards PC, we’d expect the beta’s player numbers to also be high. Recently, one developer told us that it’s not a good idea to only focus on Steam concurrents, as its game tracks best on PS5.

As one incentive, you’ll get an exclusive reward if you participate in the Battlefield 6 open beta on PlayStation.

It’d be interesting to know what Activision makes of these numbers. The open beta has attracted more players than any of Call of Duty’s all-time peaks, although recently it said it believes its franchise is “too big to fail”.

It can always add the Teletubbies if times get really tough, we suppose…
