Its nuts to me that there's games like Astrobot and Demon's Souls on the PS5, and Sony would rather throw money at an extraction shooter based on a dead Mac fps...
They're so lost that when one of their services ARE doing well (Helldivers) they try to get in front of the game's success! They have no idea what currently works in the online space, and even less an idea of what the future holds. They just throw money out and pull the lever. It's maddening.

@Lanmanna I mean they beg for money on every screen, will advertise the next game in the MK series on the title screen of the previous game even when the new one is already intalled, they made the Krypt into lootboxes betraying their lack of understanding that MJ is largely a game about trading secrets, made practice mode progression online only, and changed the online real money store of MK X to screw over players AFTER reviews hit. Stinks to high heaven.

@belmont I just think Soya in particular looks tacky AF in 9, in a specifically gross WWE kind of way. Her base outfit looks like a porn parody of 21 Jump Street or something.

@Vyse_the_Legend You inspired me to start it up again, so thanks for that. Just an incredibly cozy game for me. One of the rare super-optimistic RPGs of that era, like Grandia. I have only ever played through the DC version, at release, so I started Legends.

@Oz_Who_Dat_Dare My brother is a real one. Currently playing through the recent Prince of Persia and Sleeping Dogs. He recently said "I don't like rogues or arcade games like Tony Gawk " I knew what he meant.

@MrPeanutbutterz I've tried SO many times to get into 4. It never sticks, and I'm not sure why. I think it's the weapons and loot system and settlement BS that usually does me in. And it's super weird they give you power armor to fight a Deathclaw in the first few hours. A lot of nitpicks that added up.

I love how they went from Dragonborn in their dragon game to Starborn in their star game.
If this game has a fun dismemberment system and real space flight w like radio dramas etc I could maybe get into it.

@belmont I adore MKIX, but Sonya is pretty cringe in that game, unfortunately. The women look like WWE stars or something, which is not something I ever want to think about. Still, a really stupid reason.
I can't find any devs saying they were uncomfortable w the ladies in MK9.

Yeah dude we are asking for IX because it's the last time NRS released an honest game. The last time they had any integrity at all.

I wonder if Sony understands how much some of us would rather they just re-released the PS2 and 3. Discs and wired controllers and all. I play almost exclusively seventh gen and prior. Because I value my happiness.

I think these are kind of embarrassing, personally, but just in the way of betraying how thirsty the player is. But also, I definitely paused certain characters in compromising positions during the 16 bit era. We had to use a lot of imagination... Anyway, these people could be 12!

@nessisonett I think I have seen Eraserhead...but it may have just been referenced so much in bigger, more popular media that it's just cultural osmosis. Or something.

@lazymike God Astrobot is obscenely amazing. Sony needs a LOT more of that. Haven't seen my kids flip out like they are w Astro since Mario Odyssey.

Just means the level design will be boring.

Trilogy is the worst game in the series besides Armageddon. That game is easily outclassed by dozens of Mugens. Yuck, I say. Yuck.

I'm a fan of certain NFS games like Hot Pursuit 1 and 2 (PS2). It was their dip into street racing culture that turned me off, especially with fmv and "photo-realistic" characters. That is more jarring, for me.

Yeah I don't know the whole trophy thing never made much sense to me beyond flexing or something and that's not really my thing.

@Lup FromSoft reuse assets regularly. Why would their games need to be $80?

$60, game on the disc, with a manual, sold in a store where the associates don't want to die. It's not hard, and it's not some fantasy utopia. It's just that they want to sell things that can't be owned, with their fingers in your pocket as often as they say.
Or I'll just keep downloading isos and playing the best games ever made, for free.

I've retired to mostly sixth and previous gen games, besides the odd current game that I am interested in. That has been nothing but good to me so far.

I'd love that. I found the first two games a little janky in the combat and movement departments, but nothing that couldn't be smoothed over. I'd definitely buy that. Second Son and First Light were excellent once they clicked.

Quake Arcane Dimensions and Doom Eviternity w some mood mods. Probably some Twilight Princess and Wipeout.
