I don't think I get Diablo. I love hell stuff and ARPGs...but I'm not sure what Diablo does that makes it an ARPG. I've played about 30 hours of 3 and didn't die on the initially available "hard" difficulty. It seemed like power fantasy a la Dynasty Warriors. I never got that either. To me it isn't like "one hero defeating thousands!" It seems more like a giant stepping on ants.
Then w all the Blizzard shenanigans and it's a huge noooooope.
Brutal Heretic RPG via Deltatouch, Hydro Thunder, and Rush 2049 via Midway Arcade Archives 3. I will probably get a few levels further into Doom TDA too. Hope everyone has a grand weekend.
@PuppetMaster I'm not exactly going 100% to bat for the dude, but he probably DID have to stare at that ass for thousands of hours. I have very exacting ideas about how to do certain things I have had to do for thousands of hours too. Work does affect people. Like developers at NRS have said they've been affected by all the gore and death reference photos they need to look at.
@Exerion76 right. Imagine if a woman went on and on in weirdo detail about the ideal penis for Kratos and the correct shaft to ball ratio and why it should be emphasized correctly in a game. Surely no men are insecure about that sort of thing, lol.
I find all this more fascinating than annoying. It's so strange where the line is with people. I'm a big old pervert so most anything goes w me...but I'd like to make fun of things along the way.
@IOI that PlayStation is an XBOX though. My TV is an XBOX and so is my phone. It's suffocating, like nothing can be trusted, and nothing is what it seems. I turn to my wife for comfort...she is an XBOX.
I downloaded Heretic and Brutal Heretic RPG. So a lot of that. I'd also like to recommend the mod Diamond Dragon for Doom 2 with the map pack Auger Zenith. If you have Doom 2 already, it's basically like getting an extremely rad cyberpunk fps for free. It's too good. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ENaPWClQek4&t=287s&pp=0gcJCc4JAYcqIYzv
@SuntannedDuck2 I'm playing Hot Pursuit 2 (PS2, OFC), and man, just focusing on the basics w a manual transmission and pro steering feels great and refreshing. It's a map w a bunch of events, and it's not cloying. Hard as nails at points, and those top speed vehicles go real fast, lol. I definitely feel like we lost a lot after gen 6.
@SuntannedDuck2 no licensing used to be a good thing, because car manufacturers were so scared to let their vehicles take visible damage. I don't care if my games are indie or not, so I don't get that complaint. But yeah most of the time I'm playing 6th gen racers on my Retroid. For me, "festival" atmosphere and hello fellow teens energy of EA etc trying to capture racing culture is the worst part of big racers these days.
Welp, I'll download that and start that game for the third time. I need to just go in with a guide to help me find weapons that don't break so easily. That system never made me ad lib like BotW, it just pissed me off.
@rusty82 I adore Eternal, but I don't return to it often. It is one of the most fun games for me, in terms of feel, but it just won't stop being sweaty. I will play 2016, 64, and OG Doom 1+2 (those almost daily) until I'm dead. Eternal is if I feel like challenging myself. So that one just every year or so. I think TDA is the best realization of Hugo Martin's "He-Man Doom." But I don't know. I'll need to finish it and play it about a million more hours.
I played 2 with my gf around 2013 or so. About ten hours in, I said "I'm getting tired of tinkering w my build and comparing loot." She said "that's basically the entire game." I screamed internally for 50 hours or so after that. Chick couldn't even play Doom co-op w me for more than 5 mins. EX gf. Ex. And then, 3's humor was a literal war crime. And Randy Pitchford's carny barking like some Cash for Gold sign-spinner. I'm a contrarian assh*le, cause apparently my fave in the series (Pre-sequel...it's Bad Max on the moon and made by Aussies) is loathed by fans. All that said, hope it's good. It doesn't look anywhere near as interminable as 3.
@IntrepidWombat Ive always been surprised at this sentiment. The streamlining of the ME series was paaaaainful to me. ME 2 and 3 (but mostly 2) are incredible games. The first just had this incredibly alien mood that I got way into. I keep forgetting that Legendary is available and runs at 60...
@rusty82 I have been drinking it in at a really slow clip. I love Doom soooooooo much and it's going to be a while. Thank God for Nightdive, they'll keep me busy enough.
@OldGamer999 I personally dropped off the PS4 and other consoles pretty hard once the Switch got going full steam. I play a lot of different genres though.
@Cikajovazmaj I'm guessing we will see even more "streamlining" of PC operating systems and a walled garden, somehow, with storefronts. In other words, opposite. PCs will become more like consoles.
Diminishing returns of graphical fidelity is going to bite Sony hard if they don't pivot back to making the games we love again.
Just imagine if the PS6 is a hybrid console, they were directly competing with Nintendo, and releasing the kind of games they have been on PS5. They'd be cooked.
I would have been over the moon for a single-player Marathon, preferably in Quake engine or something like that. The funny thing is that it's exactly the right time for that, lol. A smartly budgeted game would have made bank.
I definitely also assumed this ran at 60 on last gen after playing the (pretty great, but 30 fps) Switch port. I prefer it to Mario Kart. I am weird in that I just don't like a lot of the customization in modern Mario Kart. And some of the characters I wish I could just hide.

Re: 'Aw, Nah! This Ain't Happenin'!': SEGA on Potential PS5 Sonic Adventure Remasters
Bringing it to modern standards might be difficult, sure...but modern Sonic fan standards? Come on now.

You guys ever seen those posts where incels try to tell people why they are unattractive to females versus "Chad?"

I need to go home and boot up XBOX on my PC so I can play some PlayStation games. The future needs to shut up..

@1UP-HUSKY closest you'll get is Aliens: Infestation, from Wayforward. It's excellent.

It's frickin gorgeous.
Re: Retro Throwback Double Dragon Dodge Ball Free with Double Dragon Revive Pre-Orders
@get2sammyb luckily I play a lot of PS2 games. Thanks.
Re: Retro Throwback Double Dragon Dodge Ball Free with Double Dragon Revive Pre-Orders
The game looks fun, and I'm a huge fan of beat em ups but MAN Revival is about as bland as they could make a DD game look.

Hey weird I don't see anyone here getting offended. Cause no one really cares about seeing some ass. I approve of this stuff as dlc especially.
