Re: Poll: Are You Happy with Your PS Plus Essential Games for July 2025?

I don't think I get Diablo. I love hell stuff and ARPGs...but I'm not sure what Diablo does that makes it an ARPG. I've played about 30 hours of 3 and didn't die on the initially available "hard" difficulty. It seemed like power fantasy a la Dynasty Warriors. I never got that either. To me it isn't like "one hero defeating thousands!" It seems more like a giant stepping on ants.
Then w all the Blizzard shenanigans and it's a huge noooooope.

@PuppetMaster I'm not exactly going 100% to bat for the dude, but he probably DID have to stare at that ass for thousands of hours. I have very exacting ideas about how to do certain things I have had to do for thousands of hours too. Work does affect people. Like developers at NRS have said they've been affected by all the gore and death reference photos they need to look at.

@Exerion76 right. Imagine if a woman went on and on in weirdo detail about the ideal penis for Kratos and the correct shaft to ball ratio and why it should be emphasized correctly in a game. Surely no men are insecure about that sort of thing, lol.
I find all this more fascinating than annoying. It's so strange where the line is with people. I'm a big old pervert so most anything goes w me...but I'd like to make fun of things along the way.

@SuntannedDuck2 no licensing used to be a good thing, because car manufacturers were so scared to let their vehicles take visible damage. I don't care if my games are indie or not, so I don't get that complaint.
But yeah most of the time I'm playing 6th gen racers on my Retroid. For me, "festival" atmosphere and hello fellow teens energy of EA etc trying to capture racing culture is the worst part of big racers these days.

@rusty82 I adore Eternal, but I don't return to it often. It is one of the most fun games for me, in terms of feel, but it just won't stop being sweaty. I will play 2016, 64, and OG Doom 1+2 (those almost daily) until I'm dead. Eternal is if I feel like challenging myself. So that one just every year or so.
I think TDA is the best realization of Hugo Martin's "He-Man Doom." But I don't know. I'll need to finish it and play it about a million more hours.

I played 2 with my gf around 2013 or so. About ten hours in, I said "I'm getting tired of tinkering w my build and comparing loot." She said "that's basically the entire game." I screamed internally for 50 hours or so after that. Chick couldn't even play Doom co-op w me for more than 5 mins. EX gf. Ex.
And then, 3's humor was a literal war crime. And Randy Pitchford's carny barking like some Cash for Gold sign-spinner.
I'm a contrarian assh*le, cause apparently my fave in the series (Pre-sequel...it's Bad Max on the moon and made by Aussies) is loathed by fans.
All that said, hope it's good. It doesn't look anywhere near as interminable as 3.
