As if there wasn't enough scepticism surrounding Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2, it's been revealed that the troubled project will push players to spend extra on a DLC pack that includes two additional clans — which are basically your character classes.
Eurogamer reports that said DLC pack, titled 'Shadows and Silk', unlocks two more clan options when creating your custom lead, with the base game offering a total of four clans: Brujah, Tremere, Banu Haqim and Ventrue.
Basically, as alluded, your choice of clan determines your style of play. If you're a Brujah, for example, you'll specialise in melee-based combat, whereas the Ventrue clan puts you on a path towards controlling the minds of your enemies.

The DLC, which adds the Toreador or Lasombra clans, will set you back a hefty $21.99 / £18.69.
There is a way to get access to these two clans at a cheaper price — but it means having to buy the 'Premium Edition' of Bloodlines 2 for $89.99 / £74.99.
Still, the fact that gameplay-defining choices are being locked behind an additional paywall simply isn't a good look for the title, which, again, has already attracted plenty of criticism up until this point.
Indeed, the original Bloodlines is almost the definition of a cult classic — an undeniably flawed game that sports a highly enjoyable and rather unique tone. From what we've seen of the sequel so far, there appears to be a general lack of wacky role-playing options, and the project as a whole seems to be gunning for a much more serious atmosphere.
