The enhanced re-release of 2024's Ys X: Nordics will skip PS5 in favour of a Switch 2 and PC release, publisher NIS America has announced.
When developer Falcom revealed Ys X: Proud Nordics late last year, the news was met with a lot of criticism — especially from western fans, who had only just seen the original game launch outside of Japan on PS5 and PS4.
At the time, the studio described Proud Nordics as a "significantly upgraded" version of the action RPG, and as a result, many onlookers claimed that they simply wouldn't be supporting such a business practice.

And now here we are, roughly nine months later, and Proud Nordics is confirmed for a western release in early 2026. Except, again, unlike the base Nordics, it's not even coming to PS5. What a weird saga this has been.
Still, we wouldn't rule out a PS5 port at some point i the future; this could just be NISA capitalising on the Switch 2's momentum.
