Ys X: Nordic's Controversial Re-Release Skips PS5 for Switch 2 and PC

Now That's Just Stupid not to mention the Switch 2 version is probably a Game Key Card.

I have a Switch 2 so I need to see what these upgrades are before I make a decision, but I do feel it's too soon as the game is still fresh in my mind to be playing it all again.

I would just get the steam version so I don't particularly care but it is very strange to omit a PS5, hell even a PS4 release, since there are lot of fans of Japanese games in PlayStation.

So, no upgrade path if you have the base version... This just sucks...

Trying to work out Falcom/NIS makes Squeenix look level-headed.

Nintendo probably commissioned the updated version and have an exclusivity period

I would have presumed most PS5 owners would have a Switch/Switch 2 for the JRPG crossover haha

They make one terrible decision after the other.

Annoying when publishers go down that "Switch/Steam" only route, happens with a lot of indies also.

I'll skip buying the game again on the Switch 2. I bought the base game on PS5 and I'll just wait for it to arrive on Playstation.

They should offer a free upgrade, or at least a discount, for owners of the original. As soon as I heard the news about this re-release (just a short while after buying the original on PC), I got so pissed about it, that I didn't bother to play any further.

So damn tired of this trend of re-releasing a much better version of a JRPG, just a year or two later. Could have put all that work on a sequel instead.

Not gonna buy YS XI on release, if they will continue to do this with the series...

Whenever a publisher skips PS5 but release their games on PC/Switch combo, i return the favor by not buying anything from them. Only exception to this day was Steamworld Heist 2 (because Steamworld Quest skipped Playstation) and i almost didn't buy it

I'll wait and see how Switch 2 performance compares to the game running on Deck, though, before deciding where to cop it.

Good thing I bought the OG collecter’s edition and no need for this. Definitely don’t play NIS games for the graphics 😂

I already have the base game on PS5. I wish they would give us an upgrade path or sell the extras as DLC, whenever they make a PS5 version that is.

Seems stupid. It may not be the biggest market for this type of game but one does exist on PS5 and while I want the system to succeed because I own one, I don't think this Switch 2 'momentum' people are talking about actually exists. The further we've moved out of that early launch window, the more readily available the machine is. Far more so than Switch 1, PS5 and even Series X/S were.

Pretty terrible, but that's who NIS is now. Big ol nope from me. I love Ys, but they've gotten to be like Sonic games with there hype cycle. You always know that no matter how much they promise, it will be undercooked while they move on to the next game.

I'm not surprised. The last 4-5 years, Falcom + NIS always put Nintendo first over PS. Maybe they did that because the sales are better on Nintendo Switch or whatever.

I personally couldn't careless since i didn't buy any Falcom games the last 5 years (last game i bought was Ys IX and it's kinda mediocre) and i don't have any plan to stop after this updated version that makes Atlus blush. NIS even longer, last time i bought their games was Disgaea 4 on PS3 and i've been avoiding a lot of games localized by NISA after they did a poor job with Ar Tonelico: Qoga. I'm done with NISA bad translation.

Well thats me never buying Ys X then. How can you give the PS5 the inferior version

Unfortunate but not surprising, they make things awkward, also Switch 2 momentum I mean, I guess even if not many JRPG players may be on Switch 2 compared to other audiences, a fair amount sure but many not sure depending how much are on there yet of worth for it. Either way. Regardless of what companies think of PS5 business practices or not or Game Key cards they go with, etc. it's just weird.

There is no n to make it 'in' the future, it's just i the future. It's minor but just felt pointing out if want to edit it or not.

"Switch 2s momentum". Its sold about 10% of what the PS5 has. The sales arent on the Switch 2 yet. Baffling decision

@Gamer83 Yuuuuup. And they're grooming people to view digital games the same as physical as well. There's a little animation that plays when you buy a game now, that shows a cart going into the Switch. Also, digital games have the same icon above them as the physical cart in your Switch. So it's more convenient to physically check the cart now than to do a quick look at your library. They are grossing me out.

I've already played Nordic, haven't checked what the "significantly upgraded" are exactly, but I liked the game and might have been interested.

Yeah, I noticed some of that stuff too. I'll admit I bought a Switch 2 because I want to keep playing Nintendo's first party games but I'm not a fan of a lot of what they're doing. Of course, I can say the same about Sony and, especially, MS. It's getting close to a point where I think I might be better off just building a gaming PC but at the same time, as somebody who prefers physical copies of games, I know there's zero option for it there.

Unlike P5 to P5 Royal, Nordics to Proud left a sour taste for me and now it skipped PlayStation? arguably the platform that made the entire Falcom's catalogue becomes a mainstream in the west to begin with?

We as Playstation fans have exclusives. Switch 2 has an exclusive to this enhanced game.
