Re: See the Alternate Version of Uncharted 4 You Never Got to Play in Eye-Opening Video

Korgon

A very interesting watch. There are definitely some themes and ideas that sounded really cool in Amy's version. I think Sam being more of a villain could've been better than the one we got in the released version.

There are also some things that I think would've hurt the game dramatically had it stayed with the original course. The emphasis on melee combat over ranged combat wouldn't have worked very well. Uncharted is a shooter with a really fun and engaging story. I never understood/agreed with the "He kills too many people!" It's a game. It has combat. Sorry not sorry.

Overall I'm more than pleased with the U4 we did end up getting in the end. It was a great game, and that's all one could really ask for in the end.

Re: Poll: Uncharted 4 Turns 10 Years Old, But Is It the Series' Peak?

Korgon

4 is incredible. My second favorite but 2 was sooooo influential in my life. The single player was fantastic and the multiplayer is still my favorite online shooter I ever played. I literally didn't buy another game for like two years because I was just so addicted to that multiplayer...and the next game I finally bought was Uncharted 3. 😅

Re: Is Bungie Sony's Worst Ever Acquisition After $765 Million Write-Down?

Korgon

@get2sammyb
You read my mind. It is surprising to see Sony never got into the gacha scene for many of the reasons you listed. Love or hate em, clearly they work as even the less popular gacha games still seem to be chugging along nicely for the most part. At the very least they generally don't seem to be near instant shutdown status like Concord ended up being.

Heck they have the whole China Project initiative thing that they do as well. One would've thought one of those devs they partnered with would be making a gacha game but it doesn't seem like it. Strange indeed.

Re: Rumour: Assassin's Creed Invictus Is So Bad That It Could Get Cancelled

Korgon

It's too bad they won't just do a modern version of the classic AC multiplayer. I was obsessed with every iteration of it from Brotherhood all the way to Black Flag back in the day.

I'd be willing to give Invictus a shot if I ever get the opportunity but I'd be much more excited for the classic AC multiplayer to return.

Re: Poll: One Year Later, Did Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Deserve All the Praise?

Korgon

Still legitimately one of my favorite games of all time. I do not for the life of me understand why it has weirdly gotten more hate as time has gone on. If it didn't click with you that's fine but why do some people feel the need to rain on people's parade so badly? Let people celebrate a bit!

I'm not particularly found of Baldurs Gate 3 but I recognize and respect that it clearly clicked with a lot of people. I wasn't upset it won GOTY from most outlets. I just disagree and move on with my day.

The RPG genre in general is far better with a gem like E33 in it. I say this as someone who primarily plays JRPGs if I'm not playing a fighting game these days. Can't wait for whatever Sandfall cooks up next!

Re: 'No Levels, No Gear Scores': Ubisoft Really Wants You to Know Assassin's Creed: Black Flag Resynced Is Not an RPG

Korgon

@evan23
It took me a while for sure. Origins I got through fine because I liked the story a lot for that one. I also did like the gameplay although it definitely felt very different from AC up until that point.

Odyssey was the one I really struggled to get through. I wasn't into the story and it went a little too far away from what I'm looking for from AC gameplay-wise. I took a break at some point and finished it eventually though because i did want to play Valhalla. This is still my least favorite in the series by a wide margin.

Valhalla is actually my favorite of the RPGs though. I loved the Viking setting, enjoyed how brutal the combat was, and I at least appreciated the return of social stealth again even if it wasn't executed as well as it could've been. That one really clicked with me for some reason.

Then Shadows is pretty fun too. Has great stealth mechanics and obviously love the setting. I'm still playing it off and on every now and then.

I think I just love how varied the settings/locations are in AC to the point that I'm able to enjoy each entry regardless of the gameplay style. However, I can totally see how a fan of the older titles might not click with the RPG entries.

Re: Tekken 8 Fans Furious as Tifa Tipped for Street Fighter 6 Instead

Korgon

It's pretty silly to get upset about something like this. I get being a bit jealous but thats where it should end. For example when Terry and Mai were announced for SF6 right around the same time Lucy was for Strive. If I lived in a perfect world I would have gladly traded both Terry and Mai for Lucy in SF6 if I could but obviously that's just not how it works.

Another thing to keep in mind is SF6 is unquestionably the most popular fighter on the market at the moment (especially in Japan) and Square is getting ready to release the 3rd/final installment of the FF7 Remake trilogy. It simply makes more marketing sense to go with SF right now.

Re: Rumour: Persona 1 and 2 Re-Release Hinted at by New Merchandise

Korgon

P1 is pretty tough to go back to. Some QOL updates would be much appreciated there. P2 holds up a bit better though. It's been a while since I played it but for the most part it was pretty good.

I'd be interested if they did something with these two games...but I really would rather get P6 first!😂

Re: Opinion: Does Starfield Suck? People Keep Telling Me to Skip Its PS5 Release

Korgon

On paper, I should be over the moon (no pun intended) excited for Starfield. I love RPG's. I love Sci-fi. However, it really just comes down to it being from Bethesda. I just don't trust that studio.

The only game I liked from them is Skyrim and even then I didn't love it. Tried but didn't click with Fallout 3 or 4. Oblivion just flat out never worked for me. Ran into game-breaking bugs every time I tried to get into it. The reception to Starfield from those who have already played it also hasn't inspired much confidence.

All that said though, I am still curious to try Starfield. Definitely not at launch. I have too many other things I'm currently playing. I could see myself giving it a try on a sale later on.

Re: Tekken 8 Dev Responds to Disastrous Season 3 Backlash, Confirms New Update Schedule

Korgon

I know some SF6 fans want bigger, more frequent balance adjustments but I'll gladly take the current approach they have compared to how chaotic Tekken 8's updates have been.

Feels like they can't settle on a direction they want to go in and so instead the game is needing emergency patches, announcements of emergency patches, hot fixes galore, etc.

Sometimes...less really is more.

Re: PS5 Players Seemingly Skip Marathon as Sales Estimates Look Very Weak

Korgon

I think it just needed some other modes for people to play besides just the Extraction mode. That's kind of the risk you take when you put all your eggs in one basket like this. Extraction shooters are very niche and difficult to get into. Not the best approach if you are looking for mass-market appeal. Arc Raiders is the one weird exception.

I knew it wasn't a game for me just from the server slam. It's a shame because there are great qualities to it. I want to like a Bungie game again but I really haven't clicked with anything from them since the Halo days sadly.

Re: Street Fighter 6's Incestuous New Storyline Divides Opinion

Korgon

I never was much of an Alex fan to begin with so this doesn't really matter to myself much. It is a very odd choice though. I can see why it's stirred up a bit of a controversy considering the subject. Even if story isn't important nobody wants to play as someone who engages in this kind of behavior.

I always found Alex to be a bit too...just uninteresting. Maybe this was Capcom's attempt to add some spice to the character. Not the way I would've gone about it but to their credit it has gotten people talking...so mission complete? Weird choice Capcom.😅

Re: Ghost of Yotei Nearly Stole One of Breath of the Wild's Most Distinctive Features

Korgon

I can see why they ultimately decided it didn't fit. Sure there is a good amount of climbing in yotei but I don't really think about rock climbing when I'm thinking about being a wondering ronin.

Plus while it is an awesome feature in the most recent Zelda games, the aspect of rewarding the exploration is actually one of my biggest issues with the new Zelda format. Because of how quick everything breaks, it kind kills a lot of the excitement that would normally come from exploration.

Nothing more demoralizing than finding a secret treasure chest just to find a wooden shield that will break in 6 uses! 😂

Re: 'This Is Big Unemployed Behaviour': Overwatch Dev Roasts SteamDB Fanatics

Korgon

Some people do like to call a game "dead" far too quickly. I remember when Street Fighter 5 was going through its rougher early years, people referred to it as dead. However, clearly that was never true considering support for that game lasted up to about a year from SF6's release. Heck you can still find a match online in SF5 to this very day.

Was it as big of a community on there as SF6 is currently enjoying? Not likely, especially considering it was only on 2 platforms as opposed to SF6 being on 5. But it just goes to show you can't always trust what you see on the internet. Only Sony/Bungie truly know how well or not well Marathon is doing.

Re: Hands On: Assassin's Creed Unity's PS5 Update Has Made Us Rethink That 5/10 Review

Korgon

One of my favorite AC games. It was one of the first PS4 games that really blew me away at the time from just how much of a technical leap it was from the PS3 games.

I honestly didn't have too many tech issues outside of the occasional NPC walking into walls or rag-doll physics going a bit crazy every now and then. The usual open world shenanigans.

I remember feeling so sad about people having so many issues with it at launch while here I was having a fantastic time with it. It's too bad it hovered over what was a truly great game but I'm happy people are coming around on it after the 60 fps patch. Would love to see a new AC in this style again.

Re: 'They're Not Going to Delay PS6': Hardware Leaker Says 2027 Still Likely After Xbox Helix Reveal

Korgon

2028-2029 seems like the sweet spot to me. 2027 is just too soon. 2030 is too late. One thing is for sure though, I'm not going through the hassle of hounding websites for whenever stock is in if RAMageddon makes stock difficult to get.

I'm still perfectly happy with my PS5 and have no desire to go through all that headache again especially when I highly doubt most games will even really start taking advantage of the thing until we are a good 3 or 4 years in.

I will say if it is true that there will be a real handheld companion console, that will definitely interest me more than an actual home console version of PS6.
