Re: Tekken 8 Dev Responds to Disastrous Season 3 Backlash, Confirms New Update Schedule

Korgon

I know some SF6 fans want bigger, more frequent balance adjustments but I'll gladly take the current approach they have compared to how chaotic Tekken 8's updates have been.

Feels like they can't settle on a direction they want to go in and so instead the game is needing emergency patches, announcements of emergency patches, hot fixes galore, etc.

Sometimes...less really is more.

Re: PS5 Players Seemingly Skip Marathon as Sales Estimates Look Very Weak

Korgon

I think it just needed some other modes for people to play besides just the Extraction mode. That's kind of the risk you take when you put all your eggs in one basket like this. Extraction shooters are very niche and difficult to get into. Not the best approach if you are looking for mass-market appeal. Arc Raiders is the one weird exception.

I knew it wasn't a game for me just from the server slam. It's a shame because there are great qualities to it. I want to like a Bungie game again but I really haven't clicked with anything from them since the Halo days sadly.

Re: Street Fighter 6's Incestuous New Storyline Divides Opinion

Korgon

I never was much of an Alex fan to begin with so this doesn't really matter to myself much. It is a very odd choice though. I can see why it's stirred up a bit of a controversy considering the subject. Even if story isn't important nobody wants to play as someone who engages in this kind of behavior.

I always found Alex to be a bit too...just uninteresting. Maybe this was Capcom's attempt to add some spice to the character. Not the way I would've gone about it but to their credit it has gotten people talking...so mission complete? Weird choice Capcom.😅

Re: Ghost of Yotei Nearly Stole One of Breath of the Wild's Most Distinctive Features

Korgon

I can see why they ultimately decided it didn't fit. Sure there is a good amount of climbing in yotei but I don't really think about rock climbing when I'm thinking about being a wondering ronin.

Plus while it is an awesome feature in the most recent Zelda games, the aspect of rewarding the exploration is actually one of my biggest issues with the new Zelda format. Because of how quick everything breaks, it kind kills a lot of the excitement that would normally come from exploration.

Nothing more demoralizing than finding a secret treasure chest just to find a wooden shield that will break in 6 uses! 😂

Re: 'This Is Big Unemployed Behaviour': Overwatch Dev Roasts SteamDB Fanatics

Korgon

Some people do like to call a game "dead" far too quickly. I remember when Street Fighter 5 was going through its rougher early years, people referred to it as dead. However, clearly that was never true considering support for that game lasted up to about a year from SF6's release. Heck you can still find a match online in SF5 to this very day.

Was it as big of a community on there as SF6 is currently enjoying? Not likely, especially considering it was only on 2 platforms as opposed to SF6 being on 5. But it just goes to show you can't always trust what you see on the internet. Only Sony/Bungie truly know how well or not well Marathon is doing.

Re: Hands On: Assassin's Creed Unity's PS5 Update Has Made Us Rethink That 5/10 Review

Korgon

One of my favorite AC games. It was one of the first PS4 games that really blew me away at the time from just how much of a technical leap it was from the PS3 games.

I honestly didn't have too many tech issues outside of the occasional NPC walking into walls or rag-doll physics going a bit crazy every now and then. The usual open world shenanigans.

I remember feeling so sad about people having so many issues with it at launch while here I was having a fantastic time with it. It's too bad it hovered over what was a truly great game but I'm happy people are coming around on it after the 60 fps patch. Would love to see a new AC in this style again.

Re: 'They're Not Going to Delay PS6': Hardware Leaker Says 2027 Still Likely After Xbox Helix Reveal

Korgon

2028-2029 seems like the sweet spot to me. 2027 is just too soon. 2030 is too late. One thing is for sure though, I'm not going through the hassle of hounding websites for whenever stock is in if RAMageddon makes stock difficult to get.

I'm still perfectly happy with my PS5 and have no desire to go through all that headache again especially when I highly doubt most games will even really start taking advantage of the thing until we are a good 3 or 4 years in.

I will say if it is true that there will be a real handheld companion console, that will definitely interest me more than an actual home console version of PS6.

Re: 140K+ Players Slam Marathon Servers in Pre-Launch Test, and That's Just on PC

Korgon

@somnambulance
I get that. That's kind of the reason I moved over to playing fighting games more for my multiplayer fix this gen. I have some friends that play Battlefield but while it's fine it's not really my favorite style of shooter. I'm also a huge Halo fan.

Halo Infinite was almost there. It had almost everything it needed to bring Halo back in a big way. It just didn't have the support it needed tragically. Hopefully whatever the next multiplayer Halo offering is can learn from that especially now that its multiplatform.

Re: Hands On: Marathon Is Dense, Demanding, and Drop Dead Gorgeous

Korgon

I gave it a try for about 3 hours but I just don't get it. I don't get any satisfaction out of the gameplay loop. You just get a contract, hold square on something, pick up random stuff, then leave, or die trying. I don't know I just can't find the fun in it personally.

I do agree the atmosphere is really great though. Gotta give the art and sound design teams props. Really good stuff there. The UI needs a lot of work though. Some of the most confusing menus I think I've ever seen in a game.

Maybe I'll give it one more try today. I want to like it. I just don't at the moment.

Re: 140K+ Players Slam Marathon Servers in Pre-Launch Test, and That's Just on PC

Korgon

@somnambulance
Your experience sounds exactly like mine pretty much. It looks really cool although the menus are a bit of a mess to sort through. Atmosphere is really great.

And yeah, just kind of get a contract, go loot/scan/whatever holding square does at a point, and leave to do it over again...or die trying to leave.

I don't know. Maybe I'm just stuck in my old ways but I think extraction shooters just aren't for me neither. Just can't find the fun in it.

Re: Wolverine PS5 Release Date Reveal Sparks Bluepoint Cover-Up Claims

Korgon

I could be remembering wrong but wasn't Ghost of Yotei's release date revealed in a similar way? Just a tweet and some key art? Maybe this is just the way Sony is revealing launch dates now and it happening right around the news of the Bluepoint situation was just kind of a happy accident.

Regardless of if it was or wasn't intended to overshadow the Bluepoint's closer, it seems like it worked. The Microsoft news certainly helped as well.

Re: 'The Plan's the Plan Until It's Not the Plan': Xbox All Over the Place on Future PS5 Ports

Korgon

I can't imagine a scenario where they go back to doing exclusives again. If they did though, that would be one of the wildest pivots the industry has ever seen...and Microsoft has already made a lot of pivots!

I mean just a few months ago, didn't the community manager of Halo Studios come to an interview with a Playstation shirt on and say something along the lines of "The future of Halo is on Playstation."? It would be insane to walk that back now!

Re: Sony Goes Silent on Social Media as Fans Turn Feral Following Bluepoint Closure

Korgon

Can't say I'm surprised that they're getting raked over the coals.

It's sad studio closures have become so common in the industry but I think the reason this one has really grinded people's gears is because of just how out of left field it was. I know I certainly didn't have Bluepoint of all the PS studios getting axed on my bingo card for the year.

I'm still completely flabbergasted at the entire situation. There really is no explanation other than just gross incompetence and mismanagement that caused this. What a sad mess this is.

Re: Opinion: Sony's Disgraceful Bluepoint Closure Should Concern Every PS Studios Fan

Korgon

It's a disaster really. Not that I want to see anyone lose their jobs of course but I can think of 3 other studios that would've made more sense at least to cut off. Bluepoint just felt so out of left field that it just completely blindsided anyone that follows the industry.

Honestly when my friend first told me this news I didn't even believe him. It's such a random choice that makes no sense. Bluepoint had a proven track record, they are comparatively a low cost studio, and hadn't even had a chance to shine yet since the acquisition.

This is Playstation's equivalent of how Microsoft managed Lionhead back in the day. Just complete and utter incompetence and mismanagement. I don't like to call for people's jobs but Hulst really should consider stepping down for this if not fired. Just a terrible situation.

Re: Dead or Alive 6: Last Round Is Sounding More and More Like a Rough Deal

Korgon

On the official website it just says there is no cross-play between the original release of DOA6 and Last Round to be clear. EDIT: Scratch that it does say no cross-play between platforms. My bad!

Also there were a lot of collaboration items released for the original that I assume are also not returning due to licensing issues.

I'm still interested in Last Round as I actually quite enjoyed DOA6 personally. They do need to clear the air on rollback or not though. That's the most important detail I need.

Regardless this is just to hold people over until the new DOA I assume so I'm not really expecting too much from this.

Re: Opinion: The Euphoric Reaction to PS6's Rumoured Delay Really Confuses Me

Korgon

If I'm being honest, updating hardware is probably my least favorite part of gaming as a hobby. It's more of a necessary evil as opposed to something I look forward to.

So you're never going to see me celebrating a new console release. They are a means to an end. I need the console to play the games. The games are what I celebrate and right now games run great and look great. Be happy with what you have I say.

Also with the RAM prices being what they are, I'm more than happy to hear I won't be tempted to buy new hardware for an obnoxious amount of money any time soon.
