Re: Battlefield 6 PS5 Reveal Trailer Sets Up Modern-Day Setting, More on 31st July

Korgon

Looks and sounds pretty cool! The question though is will it work at launch? Hopefully yes but this series does have a history of launching in terrible states.

I still remember when I got BF4 for PS4 at launch. One of the most broken purchases I've ever made. Campaign didn't work. No party system. Matchmaking didn't work. Crashed constantly...it was rough.

Hopefully that won't happen this time around.

Re: Live-Action Assassin's Creed TV Show Still Happening, Netflix Green-Lights

Korgon

@Oram77
I do indeed remember both of them. The AC2 lead up movies were surprisingly great for what they were!

As for the movie, I actually think they had a decent idea but just botched the execution completely. In particular with the action scenes. They kept jumping back and forth between the real world and the animus world which made it very disorienting for no real reason. Plus the story was completely forgettable.

Hopefully the Netflix show will take some inspiration from the AC2 movie. If they do that then I'd could see this show being pretty good.

Re: Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 + 4 (PS5) - An Imperfect Remake, But a Great Skateboarding Game

Korgon

I'm so torn since 4 was the first one I really got into. I played the previous ones but only very casually at friends houses back in the day. I get why they did what they did but it is a shame 4 isn't more faithful since that's when it felt like the series really took a big step forward with the more open nature of it.

I'm glad the game itself is good though at least. But God be with them if they strip down THUG's career modes if that collection ever happens. I could see the backlash being much more intense for that then it is for 4.

Re: Poll: Are You Sold on Ghost of Yotei?

Korgon

Can't wait to play it! Sucker Punch is Sony's best 1st party studio in my opinion and Yotei looks like it will easily reinforce that viewpoint. The visuals are sublime. The music sounds awesome. The combat looks more expanded and dynamic. The exploration looks just as fun as Tsushima's. The story sounds cool...

Yeah, I'm definitely sold.

Re: Director of The Last of Us' Axed PS5 Multiplayer to Start New Studio in Japan

Korgon

It still pains me to know we are likely never getting a multiplayer ND game ever again. Easily some of the best out there. Sure I love the single player stories associated with ND but Uncharted 2 is legitimately my favorite multiplayer game of all time. I'm really going to miss getting experiences like that again.

I'll be keeping an eye on this dude's new studio though. TLOU multiplayer was so good.

Re: Reaction: Helldivers 2 on Xbox Signals Another Unexpected But Not Overly Surprising Shift in Strategy from Sony

Korgon

I don't mind. It's a multiplayer live service title. The goal with games like this is always to reach as many players as possible. It all comes down to if it's the right business decision at the time.

All the businesses are doing things like this. Sure some more than others like Microsoft, and some less than others like Nintendo. It's still happening though. There was a time when Nintendo developing for the phone market was inconceivable and yet it happened.

The way I see it, I still go with the manufacturer that has the MOST access to what I want to play. Playstation has always had that in spades which is why I've stuck with them even though I love me some Gears and Halo and Zelda. We should look at situations like these as a nice surprise, but not the norm necessarily. For example, I don't expect to ever be playing the OG Fable on a Playstation. It would be a pleasant surprise though. If not? Well that's fine. That's the way it goes sometimes.

Re: What the Hell Has Happened to Call of Duty?

Korgon

@nomither6
Just stating the facts is all. I enjoyed COD the most before killstreak, perks, and all the other nonsense was added. Back when it was pure. Granted I do still enjoy dabbling in the series here and there and the entries you listed are good...just not the best. 😉

Re: What the Hell Has Happened to Call of Duty?

Korgon

I'd love for them to go back to not having ridiculous characters running around but that ship sailed a looong time ago. Long gone are the days of COD being an actually respectable WW2 representation. COD2 is still the best of the series.

All that said, Beavis & Butt-Head is kind of funny at least.😄

Re: UK's Death Stranding 2 PS5 Physical Sales Down 66% Compared to Predecessor, But Context Matters

Korgon

It will be interesting to see how it performs. DS1 had the benefit of pure curiosity. Many people bought DS1 sight unseen because it was the first not MGS title from Kojima in forever. The game turned out quite divisive.

With DS2, the mystery isn't present anymore. People know if it isn't for them now. I doubt the game is going to flop or anything like that but I also wouldn't be surprised if it isn't nearly as successful as the original.

Re: Poll: Are You Playing Death Stranding 2?

Korgon

This will actually be the first Kojima game I don't play right at launch in my life. I finished the first one. I thought the world and some of the characters were cool but I just found the gameplay so boring. Nonetheless I still plan to give the sequel a chance at some point but considering how lukewarm I was on the original I can't justify spending $70 on the sequel.

Right now the plan is to wait until Black Friday for this one. If the sale is steep enough I'll give it a shot.

While I'm not as fond of DS as I am with MGS, Kojima is the most important figure in gaming to me. I would not be into games the way I am today without MGS to put it simply. So I almost feel like I owe it to him to at least try it. I can't imagine he has too many games left in his career after all.

Re: Hot Shots Golf Fans Fume at Use of Generative AI in PS5 Revival

Korgon

I can't say I'm excited to see it but at the same time, like the article said, this task does at least make sense for using the technology.

However, while trees don't really do much for most games outside of just being window dressing, trees are much more important in a Golf game for obvious reasons. If the trees lose their hit detection or something like that because of this, then we have a big problem.

Re: Square Enix 'Aware' of Clair Obscur's Success, Ponders Turn-Based RPG Revival

Korgon

I certainly wouldn't say no to a new turn-based FF. FFX is by far my favorite of the series after all! That said, they have to have passion for that direction if they are going to go in that direction.

You can't just make FF turn-based again because there's money to be made. You need to do it because the team believes that's the right direction.

Also while I do love E33's more actionish elements, I don't want every turn-based game to be that way. The Trails series is one of the most cozy, fun, relaxing RPGs out there. I also think the pure action combat of FF7R is great as well. Variety is good and right now, regardless of what type of RPG you are into, RPG fans are eating good. Let's not force everything to play like only one game just because that game happens to be really special.

Re: The Witcher, Kingdom Come Vibes in Blood of Dawnwalker Gameplay

Korgon

It looks interesting. You can tell it's being made by some ex-Witcher 3 talent just from the way things are presented. I'm a bit iffy on the combat though. It doesn't look like it really flows very well. A bit too unclear how the character is getting hit at times. Granted it is pre-beta footage so it could improve dramatically before release.

Definitely keeping an eye on it though. Love the really dark fantasy vampire vibe it's going for.

Re: You Really Will Be Waiting a While to Play Persona 4 Revival

Korgon

I think they could have kicked the P4 remake down the line a bit and instead focused on P6. P3 I get. That one really needed a remake considering how difficult it was originally to pick which version of 3 to play with all the different features/content belonging to different versions and whatnot.

P4 doesn't really have that problem though. P4G holds up very well still and is already available everywhere pretty much.

Oh well, you can't rush greatness after all. I'm sure it'll be worth the wait!

Re: The Next Xbox Is a PC, So What Does That Mean for PS6?

Korgon

Kind of crazy to realize the Series X/S will be the last of the "traditional" style Xbox consoles.

All I know though is that the simplicity of console gaming is the primary reason I stick with console gaming. If that simplicity is ever lost in the generations to come then my gaming habits will change significantly.

In other words, I don't mind PC gaming but if that's ever my only choice then I expect my time spent playing video games to dwindle dramatically. It's just not worth the hassle.

Re: There's a Brutal Lack of Interest in Marathon from Hardcore PS5 Fans

Korgon

I'd like to be interested but I just don't think there's enough meat on that bone to pick it up. If it had a campaign or other more traditional multiplayer modes I'd be more willing to take a chance on it. But only the Extraction mode? No thanks. Extraction shooters just do nothing for me.

I'll just play Gears instead for my multiplayer shooter fix.
