I certainly feel like I got my money's worth and then some from Shadows so I'm cool with it ending soon. Not every entry needs to last as long as Valhalla.
Very excited and appreciate how open Jean was with this post. He touched on basically everything AC related that's either confirmed or rumored. I'm really curious to see what Invictus turns out to be like. I loved AC multiplayer back in the day!
Awesome! One of the very best AC games. Really got to hand it to Ubisoft for all the support they've given their legacy titles. They don't have to do it but it is much appreciated.
@somnambulance I get that. That's kind of the reason I moved over to playing fighting games more for my multiplayer fix this gen. I have some friends that play Battlefield but while it's fine it's not really my favorite style of shooter. I'm also a huge Halo fan.
Halo Infinite was almost there. It had almost everything it needed to bring Halo back in a big way. It just didn't have the support it needed tragically. Hopefully whatever the next multiplayer Halo offering is can learn from that especially now that its multiplatform.
I gave it a try for about 3 hours but I just don't get it. I don't get any satisfaction out of the gameplay loop. You just get a contract, hold square on something, pick up random stuff, then leave, or die trying. I don't know I just can't find the fun in it personally.
I do agree the atmosphere is really great though. Gotta give the art and sound design teams props. Really good stuff there. The UI needs a lot of work though. Some of the most confusing menus I think I've ever seen in a game.
Maybe I'll give it one more try today. I want to like it. I just don't at the moment.
@somnambulance Your experience sounds exactly like mine pretty much. It looks really cool although the menus are a bit of a mess to sort through. Atmosphere is really great.
And yeah, just kind of get a contract, go loot/scan/whatever holding square does at a point, and leave to do it over again...or die trying to leave.
I don't know. Maybe I'm just stuck in my old ways but I think extraction shooters just aren't for me neither. Just can't find the fun in it.
I could be remembering wrong but wasn't Ghost of Yotei's release date revealed in a similar way? Just a tweet and some key art? Maybe this is just the way Sony is revealing launch dates now and it happening right around the news of the Bluepoint situation was just kind of a happy accident.
Regardless of if it was or wasn't intended to overshadow the Bluepoint's closer, it seems like it worked. The Microsoft news certainly helped as well.
I can't imagine a scenario where they go back to doing exclusives again. If they did though, that would be one of the wildest pivots the industry has ever seen...and Microsoft has already made a lot of pivots!
I mean just a few months ago, didn't the community manager of Halo Studios come to an interview with a Playstation shirt on and say something along the lines of "The future of Halo is on Playstation."? It would be insane to walk that back now!
If I was still into getting special editions I might have shelled out for this one. Sky 2nd Chapter is my favorite of the series and I have no doubt the remake will be fantastic.
Looking forward to all of it. Especially the hopeful return of AC multiplayer. I miss the days of Brotherhood and Revelations! Great, unique multiplayer mode they created there.
Can't say I'm surprised that they're getting raked over the coals.
It's sad studio closures have become so common in the industry but I think the reason this one has really grinded people's gears is because of just how out of left field it was. I know I certainly didn't have Bluepoint of all the PS studios getting axed on my bingo card for the year.
I'm still completely flabbergasted at the entire situation. There really is no explanation other than just gross incompetence and mismanagement that caused this. What a sad mess this is.
It's a disaster really. Not that I want to see anyone lose their jobs of course but I can think of 3 other studios that would've made more sense at least to cut off. Bluepoint just felt so out of left field that it just completely blindsided anyone that follows the industry.
Honestly when my friend first told me this news I didn't even believe him. It's such a random choice that makes no sense. Bluepoint had a proven track record, they are comparatively a low cost studio, and hadn't even had a chance to shine yet since the acquisition.
This is Playstation's equivalent of how Microsoft managed Lionhead back in the day. Just complete and utter incompetence and mismanagement. I don't like to call for people's jobs but Hulst really should consider stepping down for this if not fired. Just a terrible situation.
@PuppetMaster I'd consider myself a pretty hardcore DOA fan and I'm fine with the missing guest characters. I even don't mind the lack of crossplay that much either. The rollback netcode on the other hand is a big deal. If it's got rollback then I'll pick it up. If not, I'll just wait for 7.
On the official website it just says there is no cross-play between the original release of DOA6 and Last Round to be clear. EDIT: Scratch that it does say no cross-play between platforms. My bad!
Also there were a lot of collaboration items released for the original that I assume are also not returning due to licensing issues.
I'm still interested in Last Round as I actually quite enjoyed DOA6 personally. They do need to clear the air on rollback or not though. That's the most important detail I need.
Regardless this is just to hold people over until the new DOA I assume so I'm not really expecting too much from this.
I'm curious what they'd look like with the new style but at the end of the day I'd prefer the original style. They were able to convey such a sense of scale in a way that I just don't think would be possible with the modern style.
If I'm being honest, updating hardware is probably my least favorite part of gaming as a hobby. It's more of a necessary evil as opposed to something I look forward to.
So you're never going to see me celebrating a new console release. They are a means to an end. I need the console to play the games. The games are what I celebrate and right now games run great and look great. Be happy with what you have I say.
Also with the RAM prices being what they are, I'm more than happy to hear I won't be tempted to buy new hardware for an obnoxious amount of money any time soon.
Greek history/mythology is heavily wrapped up in sexual imagery all over the place so as goofy as they were, I think they fit the overall tone of the games.
Plus, like it was said it's not like they showed Kratos in the act or anything so I say why not? Keep them in!
I didn't pick it up yet so I can't comment on the quality of the game but as much as I respect the contributions Jaffe has made to gaming, his opinions...rarely make much sense to me.
I truly cannot imagine not being satisfied with the show yesterday. If nothing during that show spoke to someone then I hate to be the one to break it to you but gaming might not be for you anymore.
Absolutely excellent! I can't believe DOA is back! Very exciting! MGS4 is free from PS3 prison. Kena 2 looks incredible. Really interested in just about...well everything! Couldn't ask for more.
I was actually going to skip Kiwami 3 mostly because the original 3 is probably my least favorite entry in the series but...after all the drama surrounding the story changes I must admit I'm curious enough that I might check it out after all. We'll see. My plate is kind of full at the moment on games.
I'm interested to see how it does. I can't say I'm the target audience really since I'm only into a little bit of Marvel stuff and I'm also not really into tag fighters for the most part but I know its a big deal to the fgc in general obviously.
That's too bad. I do like 2XKO but it's just so difficult to devote serious time to it over SF6. I only have so much time and if I have to pick one it's going to be SF6.
The fighting game space is tough indeed for newcomers.
I think it actually looks pretty good. I'm not usually into co-op forever type multiplayer games though so I don't think it's going to grab me in the end. It's just so difficult to grab a group together consistently. If I get an invite to the playtests then I'll give it a try at least.
It actually looks pretty good imo. I'm not the biggest fan of the art style but it isn't enough to dissuade me either. Combat looks fast and flashy in a fun way. I also like the various ways to play with the different scenarios. (One looks very Nightreign coded while another looks more Destiny raid based or something) My biggest holdup is really just trying to convince two other friends to try this with me as Horizon isn't as popular with my friend group.
We'll see. I like Horizon so I might give it a whirl.
@Czar_Khastik Not sure yet how connected or not the two games are but the story for Tokyo was pretty good if not a bit formulaic. If you've played any of the Trails titles it's like that only with purely action combat instead of turn-based.
Looks great! The side-scrolling bits did throw me for a loop but not necessarily in a bad way. As a fan of the original I can't say the dungeon design was a highlight anyway so I'm fine with the change. Definitely on my list this year.
Makes sense. I'm still playing it on PS5 but good for anyone else that is interested on other platforms. This will definitely help it's chances of success over in Japan for sure.
That's a shame. I played both this and MK World and I'd say Crossworlds is much better actually. I still think MK8 is the best the genre has to offer but Crossworlds is really good.
Well that's exciting to hear! I liked Xanadu more than I expected when I played it a couple years ago so I'll definitely be excited to see how the sequel shapes up.
So long as it doesn't replace a more traditional controller then sure. Go for it. If this would be the standard controller though I would not be happy.
I personally thought Rebirth looked incredible even on a base PS5 so I'm not bothered by this in the slightest. Maybe my eyes are getting bad in my old age but for the life of me I never did notice the issues people had with that game in terms of visuals.
It's too bad. I loved Watch Dogs 1 & 2. WD2 is honestly right up there with any GTA in my opinion. Legion didn't quite hit the mark but even then I respect that game for trying something unique with the whole recruit anyone mechanic.

Re: Capcom to Show What It's Got After Resident Evil Requiem in Spotlight Showcase
These Capcom specific shows are usually pretty low-key. So I wouldn't read into Onimusha not being here too much.
Still should be a nice way to pass the time. Looking forward to the SF6 portion to see if we get notes for the upcoming balance patch.
Re: Stellar Blade Dev May Cut Sony's Support and Self-Publish the Sequel
