Update []: Further reporting from VGC’s reliable Andy Robinson suggest Fable has been “targeting” PS5 for some time and is almost certainly coming to Sony’s console.
The big debate now revolves around whether it will be available day and date or not.
Robinson cautions that specific details can always change, but that he “expects” it to be available day one on PS5 given the length of time Playground’s been targeting the platform.
He went on to explain that the reason for Forza Horizon 6’s previously announced PS5 delay is simply because it’s “not ready”. Assuming Fable is ready, then expect it to launch alongside its Xbox and PC counterparts.
Original Story: In case you missed it, Xbox officially announced its Developer Direct presentation, due to take place at the end of January.
The company has announced a trio of games that will be the main focus of the show. These include Forza Horizon 6, Beast of Reincarnation, and Fable.
Unlike the other two games, the latter of these is currently not confirmed for release on PS5. However, gaming outlet VGC is claiming that it is indeed heading for Sony's console.
"It’s understood Fable is also in development for PlayStation 5," its report reads.
Fable on PS5 has been heavily rumoured for a good while now, and given Xbox's multi-platform strategy has seen it bring many of its titles across, it's almost expected that any other games will get the same treatment.
Last year saw Gear of War: Reloaded, Forza Horizon 5, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, and more join PS5's library. Looking ahead, we already know we're getting the likes of Halo: Campaign Evolved, Avowed, South of Midnight, and the aforementioned Forza Horizon 6.
Given the ubiquity of PS5 ports from Xbox, it does seem like Fable is fated to make the jump as well. Either way, we should have confirmation when the Developer Direct airs later this month.
