Rockstar Games is on the approach to launching GTA 6, the most hotly anticipated game since, well, GTA 5, probably.
While there are still several months to go, the open world action game has been in development for a very long time, and the studio has been predictably closed off, only releasing two trailers and a handful of stills.
The excitement within fans is bubbling over, and it seems to be too much to handle for some.
Reece Reilly, who runs the Kiwi Talkz YouTube channel specialising in game dev interviews, has mentioned some extreme cases of fans doing whatever they can to spy the smallest of looks at GTA 6.
After commenting on the rumours about the game skipping a physical launch (which he believes to be true), Reilly brings up some mad stories he's heard from Rockstar devs about unbelievably eager fans.
"Unfortunately there are a number of crazy Rockstar fans that would 100% break into retail stores and manufacturing facilities to steal discs and people on the inside would leak it as well," he says as part of an explanation why Rockstar might avoid launching physically.
"I have heard stories from Rockstar devs over the years of nutty fans trying to get into their buildings to get any info they can from faking IDs to flying drones above windows to try to get images/video."
So, according to Reilly, there are some people out there who have attempted to sneak inside Rockstar using fake ID, and others who have used drones equipped with cameras to try and record their own footage of the game.
While this is unsubstantiated, Reilly has interviewed hundreds of people in game development and as a consequence will be pretty well connected.
The other reason we think this is likely to be true is that we already know about another example of unhinged behaviour concerning GTA 6.
You might recall one so-called fan who flew from the US to Scotland in order to interrogate Rockstar staff as they left the office.
Currently, GTA 6 is scheduled to launch on 19th November 2026, meaning there's at least another 10 months to go. That's if it isn't delayed again, of course.
