Re: Poll: Are You Hyped for GTA 6 After Trailer 2?

Korgon

I'm not really frothing at the mouth for it but I'm excited for sure. It's always a fun time when a new R* game comes around because of just how much budget and time goes into them. The sheer technical prowess is always a sight to behold.

That said though, I do hope dearly that the combat mechanics are drastically improved this time around. We have had the same "lock-on, tilt up, shoot" combat since their PS2 games. That's always been an annoyance with their games for me. I'm not asking for much I just want it to play like a proper 3rd person shooter is all.

While 30 fps isn't ideal, I can deal with it since this isn't exactly the most twitch-based game out there. I love exploring their worlds but if they can finally make some drastic improvements to combat, then I'll be really excited to play!

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Clair Obscur: Expedition 33?

Korgon

@ErrantRob
I also should have mentioned this too in that I also haven't finished the game yet. So perhaps it improves later on in the game.

But other examples I can think of that do it well would be like Persona for example where the characters interact with each other a lot more. (Though to be fair the protagonist is mostly silent in that series so I guess they kind of have to play off of each other more 😅)

But yeah for a first go at it Sandfall has basically knocked it out of the park everywhere else. I can only imagine where they could go from here. Definitely a bright future ahead of them.

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Clair Obscur: Expedition 33?

Korgon

It's the highest 9 I think I could ever give! Everything is so damn good. The only two things that keep me from a 10 would be I wish there was a way to switch party members mid-battle and I do wish there was just a tad more camaraderie among the cast. Don't get me wrong, it's there, I just think there are areas where there could have been more.

Overall though it's an absolutely wonderful game and has easily put Sandfall on the map big time.

Re: Talking Point: What Should Ghost of Yotei's Biggest PS5 Improvements Be?

Korgon

I loved Ghost of Tsushima. My personal favorite PS4 game from a 1st party studio. I have no doubt Sucker Punch will put out yet another banger title like always.

I would say the stealth mechanics however could be improved though. Stealth was very by the book in Tsushima. Not bad, just very much what one would expect. After seeing the improvements to stealth made in AC Shadows recently I'm hoping Yotei will follow suit somewhat.

Re: GTA 6's Trailer Was Captured on Standard PS5, Sony Likely Has Marketing Rights

I feel like people sometimes forget the base PS5 is still a very capable machine too. Yes GTA6 looks incredible visually but I never doubted the base PS5 could keep up with it. They've had all the time in the world to optimize the game for current-gen consoles. I doubt they were going to put out something that only ran well on a very niche product like the PS5 Pro.

Just doesn't make business sense. The really fun test will be how the Series S handles this thing. Now that will be interesting to see! 😄

Re: Halo the Final PS5 Holdout of Xbox's Historic Big Three

Korgon

I still can't believe we are actually getting Gears of War on Playstation. Gears and Halo were always the two games I made sure to play in whatever way possible on the Xbox side. Sometimes that involved getting an Xbox late in the console cycle. Sometimes playing co-op at a friend's house who owned an Xbox. Most recently played Halo Infinite on PC because of the Covid console shortage.

I'm mostly into fighters and RPGs but Halo and Gears were always my two shooter series. To have them both available on Playstation is truly a wild reality I never thought I'd see in my lifetime!

Re: The Hundred Line Creator Ready to Start Work on PS5 Port, But Studio on the Brink of Bankruptcy

I picked it up on Switch since I was looking for a good portable game. I have no prior experience with the Danganrompa games so I was coming in fresh and I'm really enjoying the game so far. It's kind of reminds me of 13 Sentinels a bit with the whole Visual Novel/SRPG setup. Turns out that makes for a really good combination!

Hopefully it will do well enough for them to continue operations. I might even look into picking up the Danganrompa games after I finish this one.

Re: Poll: Are You Disappointed by the GTA 6 Delay?

Korgon

I like GTA but it hasn't really been a "drop everything to play the new one" kind of game for me. That said, most publishers are going to avoid late May like the plague because of it so assuming I'm not in the middle of something else I'll probably play it at launch anyway.

I never expected it this year anyway and could see it's date moving one more time before release though.

Re: Poll: Are You Sold on Borderlands 4?

Korgon

Borderlands 1 & 2 are all time favorites of mine. Loved playing those co-op with the boys back in the day! 3 unfortunately took a bit too long to come out though as we have all gotten older it's tougher to get everyone together for a session. Still a solid shooter though. I didn't finish 3 but liked it well enough.

4 does look promising. I'm not 100% in but I'm interested. It will largely depend on if I'm playing anything else at the time if I get it right away or not.

Re: Expedition 33's Sublime Success Sparks Chatter About Final Fantasy's Future

Korgon

I have some good news for the folks clamoring for a new turn based FF. There are plenty of other great options out there if you just look around a bit. Atlus, Falcom, and obviously just recently Expedition 33 are just a few of them. Heck Square still does it now just not with FF like the article said. Turn-based never died, FF just moved more and more away from it is all.

Now all that said I'd gladly take a new turn-based FF. FFX is still my personal favorite and I'd love to see a new FF have something more similar to that again but if not, it's no big deal. I have plenty of other options for my turn-based fix.

One thing I definitely do hope to see though from a potential FF17 is a return to a proper party again at least. FF7R did a good job with this but that was one of my biggest issues with 16. Your companions just felt borderline pointless outside of Torgal being just a combo extender tool. Those RPG elements need to come back more than anything for the next FF in my opinion.

Re: Not Everyone Loved Oblivion Remastered's Shadow Drop

Korgon

I can see where their frustration is coming from. Working on a game for ages, finally coming up to the launch date only to have to go up against a juggernaut franchise out of nowhere like Elder Scrolls. Basically your game all of a sudden has to completely knock it out of the park just to stand a chance like Expedition 33 thankfully did.

No doubt it's a difficult market. Money is of course a problem but time is a bigger luxury for customers. By the time most folks finish something like an Oblivion these devs could have already shut down for lack of funds.

I feel for them but there isn't much to be done. Bethesda/Microsoft is a business too at the end of the day and they have choose to do whatever they need to do to ensure their success.

Re: Video: Everything You Need to Know About Marathon

Korgon

I wish them well as I'll always have a soft spot for Bungie thanks to the early Halo days.

I just don't think the very idea of an extraction shooter sounds at all appealing to me. I mean you sweat it out so hard just to get a good weapon...and then you might lose it if you mess up just once and so decide to just not use it? And even if you don't lose it to another player, you still lose it anyway at the end of a season? Just sounds annoying more than fun to me but like I said I suppose it's just not for me.

Personally I like what Splitgate 2 is offering more and it's also free so I think that will be where my attention goes for my next shooter.
