I'm not a Dragon Age fan, but I would expect problems with DA4. It was likely always developed with the GaaS philosophy due to EA. Now they plan to remove that this late in development? How would this not screw things up?
While not exactly the same scenario, it reminds me of Torchlight 3 starting out as a F2P game only to be turned into a normal Torchlight game after most of the development was likely done. That certainly worked out for the game. /s 🙄
Yeah, I had to repeat the prologue 3 times because it kept crashing and not saving progress. That's a major reason I'm not a fan of online only games.
There is zero reason I've seen for this game to require an online connection. We have other games like Gears of War and Borderlands that are similar and superior in gameplay, world, and design, that can be played offline.
The online requirement was enough to change my mind on purchasing this game. The fact that it looks and feels like a game from the late 360/PS3 era certainly doesn't help my desire to play it either. Not that feeling like a 360/PS3 game is inherently bad or anything, it just doesn't do enough to differentiate itself from the competition. From my time with the demo, what it does do isn't even as good as the competition.
Eh, it looks ok, but nostalgia won't let anything beat out the original MK movie for me.
If they don't use the original movie theme song and turn it into some modern crap version like what happened with Ghostbusters, I'm going to flip my 💩! 😡
No one will care if I do of course, but I'll do it anyway.
The first Castlevania Lord's of Shadow was an amazing game, and the story made me side with Gabriel. The Order royally screwed him over! Made me side with him at the end and sequel.
I'd love a new take on a 3D Castlevania, but less of an older style God of War game and more of an open ended semi-open world Metroidvania in 3D.
Hmm, the closest 3D game to that right now is Remedy's Control.
From Software do Casltevania? I hope not. I dont want Castlevania to induce controller throwing rage fits with me. I gave up on games that do that a decade ago, and it's why I tried the Souls games and just said, no thanks, not for me.
Well, it seems the update screwed something up with the game for me. Hopped on and enjoyed the framerate upgrade.
Hopped on today, get an error code saying I can't play the game. Seems after a Google search my only option was a full delete and reinstall. Only now, even with the always download PS4 games to my external hdd option checked, it wants to install to my internal instead, of which I don't have enough space. I guess now I need to delete stuff, transfer between hdd's and reinstall multiple large file games.
WTF?!?
Just more finicky issues with the PS5 I suppose.
EDIT:
Weird, I deleted a game at about 57gb on my PS5's internal HDD allowing me to install Division 2 on my console.
But...its installing to my external??
So I had more than enough space on my external to install the game, but I needed to delete a game on my internal, for it to start downloading... to my external.
I totally expect Anthem 2.0 will be underwhelming if it even releases. That said, as long as EA doesn't have the gall to charge for it (zero chance I put another dime into it), I do hope they can bring life back into it.
The core gameplay, the Ironman simulator, is tons of fun, the world can be beautiful at times too, but there is just so much wrong with it.
I just wish Bioware made a normal lengthy campaign like most of their single player games but allowed for co-op. The live service route EA most likely made them take the game was a bad decision.
Live service games are horribly broken and I'm done with them completely. An Anthem 2, where it's just a good single player game with optional co-op, akin to Gears of War, and I'm all in.
I dont care about Overwatch, but im definitely interested in Diablo 4. That being said, I'm taking a wait and see approach with Diablo 4.
After the Diablo 3 launch, and the F2P Diablo mobile game, I'm cautious about what Diablo 4 ends up being.
Then of course there are more recent things like Cyberpunk and so many other horrible launches over the years since Diablo 3 that has changed my stance on supporting games at launch. There is no reason to anymore.
Either you get screwed over by broken launches, or the inevitable game of the year/ultimate edition that every game seems to have now, there is absolutely no reason to support games at launch.
When you do, and you complain, like with the Control fiasco, you just get labeled as entitled. 🤷♂️
I updated but haven't played GoW on PS5 yet. I still have some raven collectables and a few more chests in Niflheim to earn with Mist Echoes. Not to mention new game plus.
Did they add any controller rumble updates for the leviathan axe?
Yep, that's being shady about the whole situation...TWICE!
I'll take it though, as I bought the game at launch and it's great, when running properly.
However, this is just another nail in 505's coffin for me. The other was the initial Control fiasco and before that the horrid Switch port of Bloodstained.
Cyberpunk, and my aforementioned issues are perfect examples of NOT supporting games at launch. Something I've learned to stop doing now, even from developers I held in high regards. Thankfully I didn't buy into the Cyberpunk hype and saved myself from that bullet.
Yep, and Maneater was a great game last month! I beat it in one weekend, platinum and all. I had already purchased it, but getting the digital version along with the free PS5 upgrade was nice timing.
Seriously, it was genuinely funny at times and just old school fun!
Cool, I guess I get the free next gen upgrade for Control now after all. Just another example of getting the short end of the stick for supporting a game at launch. 🙄 It only took Sony working out a deal to include it on PS+.
Now, back to my regularly scheduled boycott of 505 Games.
I wonder if we'll see Godfall on PS+ soon. I tried it for a few hours from a friend's copy. Definitely not something that should be trying to usher in a new $70 standard for next gen games.
Ok, no more negativity, enjoy some good games everybody!
Hmm, than did AC Valhalla sell poorly? I'm sure I read somewhere that Mikes Morales sold much less than the previous Spider-Man game, like around 70% less.
EDIT:
I was right, it sold far less, 70% less. So if Spider-Man: MM sold slightly more than 1/2 a million, how well did Valhalla sell? Obviously Valhalla also has Xbox and PC sales, and this may only be digital, but that still seems like an issue.
I get what Naughty Dog was trying to do with the story and all, I just didn't enjoy the story once the big event early in the game happened. It killed it for me and after that, I just no longer cared about the game.
Then add in the character swap, and that just cemented it. I prefer the original anyway.
I would have loved to replay this on Switch so I could have a great Western RPG on the go. As it stands, I don't think I'll be getting this anytime soon. I haven't finished Andromeda yet anyway.
I have too much of a backlog on my home consoles to replay massive games I've played before. Had this come out a few years ago, I'd have bought it day 1.
Plus, this is EA, they're remasters are barely what I would call an upgrade.
Glad to see God of War take the honor of 1st place, it's an amazing game and an incredible experience.
I agree, Horizon Zero Dawn should have been on this list, especially since the list includes a remastered PS2 game.
HZD still wouldn't beat out GoW for me, but it'd definitely be in spot #2. I'd probably give spot #3 to TLoU. I do feel it's sequel is far to high on this list though. 🤷♂️
If they all arrive this year, then must is as follows.
God of War: Ragnarok Horizon Forbidden West Ratchet & Clank: A Rift in Time
Other games I'm looking forward to are Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines, and I dont know if it's coming out this year, but I'm still looking forward to Biomutant.
Watched the first 2 years, found them boring and kinda lame, haven't watched since. Now I just watch the game blogs and news sites for an overview of everything that happened. Saves me a lot of time.
FarCry 5 had the best implementation of co-op im the series at least, and planes, so that was nice. The setting was ok, the story was lackluster and I honestly just didn't care. It was miles better than 4, I just did not like 4, well except for the wing suit and the gyro copter/grenade launcher combo that made the game incredibly easy! 😈🤣
Oh, I surprisingly really enjoyed fishing in Far Cry 5 with my brother. So I hope that comes back. Heck, id even play a fishing game with him if it had co-op and was as fun as it was in FC5.
Its just hard to beat FC3 for me. Vaas, while unfortunately underused, was an amazing villain, and the tropical setting is almost a must for FarCry.
I think they should just give up on the franchise. The first was ok, second slightly better bit at least more fun to play, particularly in co-op, but this one held zero interest for me from day one.

I thought about selling it, but thats as much of a hassle as trying to find it. I dont like Ebay, even less since they own PayPal and I've had a horrible experience with them that locked me out of $1500 for over a month then got me banned. Ugh! 😡
I've decided to just make piece with it. If anything, it being digital only may save me money. I wont be tempted to buy everything at first, I won't keep buying games to add to my never ending backlog, and speaking of which, this may help me work on that massive backlog. 😁
Besides, if it will still be this hard to aquire for some time, at least I have one, then I can upgrade to the disc version sometime next year of I still want to and give this one to my niece.
Seeing ebay sellers with a jenga tower of PS5's is an infuriating sight. Hard enough for most people to get one for themselves, let alone a half dozen or more to resell.
In a perfect world, people would just wait and not buy from scalpers. That way the scalpers don't profit.
Sadly, there are those out there with much more disposable income than others who will buy them if necessary.
Even if I did have tons of excess disposable income, I wouldn't buy from scalpers based on principal alone.
I was finally able to grab one last night, but it was a bundle I really didn't want. I screwed up in my mad dash to beat the bots though and ended up with a digital console. I guess that kills my normal rent first buy later routine I've been using for about a decade now.
Really? I find Discord to be a giant confusing mess. I just use the built in console chat functions for everything, always have, and wouldike to keep it that way.
Playing on PC, I can see the reason for Discord, but I'm still not a fan of it. I used it for Destiny 2 clans and that was it.
