Re: The Last of Us: Part I Has a $100 Version, and It's Already Sold Out

Kang81

@MattBoothDev

One would hope, but Sony doesnt seem interested unfortunately.

Elsewhere? Most of Naughty Dogs games have been remastered. Aside from Crash/Jake & Daxter. I'd love full remakes of the Jak and Daxter trilogy.

I was thinking of a remastered Resistance: Fall of Man Trilogy. Only the 3rd game is even playable on PS Now...err...PS Plus Premium?

I'd also love full remakes of the original
God of War trilogy.

I'm not a big Metal Gear fan, I did really enjoy MG3: Snake Eater and most of MG4, which seems forever stuck on the PS3.

Even some remasters just to bring them out of the PS3 prison. Like the Sly Cooper collection, the Ratchet and Clank Future games, Killzone 2 & 3, 3D Dot Game Heroes, Folklore, Echochrome, etc.

Honestly, backwards compatibility would fix most of these issues, Sony really screwed up with the PS3 despite the great things about it. The cell processor was more of a hindrance to the PS3 than anything. It still is. 😑

Re: The Last of Us: Part I Has a $100 Version, and It's Already Sold Out

Kang81

@MattBoothDev

I mean it's cool to get a remaster of TLoU, but it still looks great. I'd have been fine with some updates like 60fps and such. It just seems like a waste of effort to me. But I'm obviously wrong going by the sales already.

I just have so many more games I'd have chosen to get remade over TLoU. Particularly a bunch of PS3 games since they're unfortunately locked to that system seemingly forever.

Re: PS5's Rumoured Pro Controller Could Have a Sturdy Solution to Stick Drift

Kang81

@RobN

Yep, I've never had stick drift on ANY controller until the Switch and PS5.

My Switch left joycon drift is atrocious!

As for my Dualsense, my first one broke its right trigger after one day of trying out the haptic triggers. I did NOT aggressively pull on the trigger. I actually don't like the feature, but apparently the spring either broke or dislodged.

So I grab my second brand new Dualsense that was a backup or for co-op games. Right out of the box, pretty bad stick drift on the left analog stick.

I'm really getting tired of all the shoddy build quality of today's electronics.

Re: The Last of Us: Part I Has a $100 Version, and It's Already Sold Out

Kang81

Jesus, gamers will buy anything. 🤦‍♂️

This remake is unnecessary as it's already been remastered once before. I'm not surprised though. It's been clear all along that it's the vocal "minority" that are against the BS that the games industry has been pulling for years.

The vast majority seem to have no problem with getting fleeced ad nauseum.

Oh well, this hobby is becoming easier and easier to just ignore every passing year.

Re: Gallery: Final Fantasy 16 Is Jaw-Dropping In New PS5 Screenshots

Kang81

I've never really been a fan of Final Fantasy. I've only ever beat one FF game, and it was FF: Mystic Quest. Haters be damned, I don't care if they consider it baby's first FF game, I Ioved it. It actually was my first JRPG. To this day it still has one of the best video game soundtracks to date.

That said, this FF actually looks intriguing. Enemies like Trolls and a Beholder, or at least inspired by them, and it seems like a FF game borrowing from western RPG's.

The combat, at least in the trailer with no visible hud, actually gave me a Platinum Games action game vibe. I'm down with that.

I'm not a fan of the hybrid combat systems in JRPG's lately. Either give me straight turn based like the classic JRPG's, or give me full on action game controls.

For the first time, I'm actually interested in 2 games from Square Enix that aren't Tomb Raider or Deus Ex. Forspoken, and possibly FF16. I glad Square sold of most of their western studios and IP's too! I hope they get the support they truly deserve)

Re: Massive Street Fighter 6 Leaks Acknowledged by Capcom

Kang81

@thefourfoldroot1

I'm not into fighting games but enjoyed Mortal Kombat and Street Fight 2 back in the day, so this isn't an issue for me.

I do have a major issue with any form of entertainment media drip feeding information though. It's grown extremely annoying and i hate it. Case in point: Teaser trailers for reveal trailers, or worse yet; teaser trailers for teaser trailers teasing a reveal trailer.

Really?!? 🙄🤦‍♂️😡

If any industry drip feeds info these days, I just ignore most related info until the product is released and public impressions are out.

I find instances like Bethesda surprise dropping Fallout 4, showing a ton of footage while releasing lots of info and especially a release date that is months away to be refreshing. I feel this is the way media, particularly video games, should handle reveals from here on out.

Drip feeding info ends up making me care less about a games release. Sometimes to the point that I'm sick of it and have lost all interest even playing said game before it ever does release.

I'm probably in the minority though.

🤷‍♂️

Re: Sony Officially Backtracks on PS Plus Discount Scandal, Says It Was an Error

Kang81

@Godot25

I've barely ever used GamePass, I own about everything on it that would interest me already, but to get ? years of GamePass for a single $1? (I had 3 personally)

That was the best deal ever in gaming.

I just wish I didn't already own everything of interest so I could have taken more advantage of the deal. 🤷‍♂️

Sony on the other hand? 🙄🤦‍♂️

Seriously, all the big 3 are on an endless cycle of for the players, screw the players, make it up to the players, ad nauseum.

On generation they're on top, then they get overconfident the next generation and spend the entire generation trying to get back into the good graces of gamers/consumers, and then boom! The dunces pull a 180. 🤦‍♂️

Re: Rumour: PS5 Exclusive Returnal Likely Heading to PC Soon

Kang81

@Bismarck

It could be because they're small studios as well. Kena already makes little use of the Dualsense from what I can recall. Plus, it's from a studio that originally created CG animation and Kena is their first stab at making a game. They've done a much better job than at of first time developers in my opinion.

Re: Rumour: PS5 Exclusive Returnal Likely Heading to PC Soon

Kang81

Nice, I await the patch to remove the roguelike parts of the game. I've no desire to "Git Gud" anymore. I have limited time in my week to enjoy my gaming time, so now I can see this interesting world and story through in a more manageable way.

That's the nice thing about gaming on PC even though I rarely do. Gamers like me can enjoy the game how we want, and everybody else can enjoy it the way the devs desired it to be.

Win/Win

Re: Skull & Bones Finally Resurfaces Thanks to Leaked Gameplay Footage

Kang81

It looks absolutely horrible!

Ubisoft basically took everything that was great and loved in Black Flag, tossed it overboard, and turned a great idea into a bland looking Live Service PvP centric game that will more than likely be filled to the brim with micro-transactions, boosters, and their BS Ubisoft Quartz NFT crap.

I'm just losing more and more interest in this hobby by the day. The AAA games industry is continuing its downward spiral for me. I'm spending vastly more of my limited gaming time on indie games or just smaller scale games. Games where jist making a FUN gaming experience is the tip priority, not how much revenue can be squeezed out of a game.

Re: Poll: What's Your PS5, PS4 Game of the Year So Far?

Kang81

As of now, it's **Horizon Forbidden West**. I also want to help it beat out Elden Ring. Haha

Runner up would be **Dying Light 2**.

However, I stopped playing until Techland puts cross-gen co-op back into the game.

3rd place is **Ghostwire Tokyo**

I've been having a blast with it. I love the setting, I love the traversal mechanics despite them being a bit touchy, and the idea of combat is great, it's just a bit too basic unfortunately.

Where is '**Nobody Saves the World**' or '**Death's Door**' in the list?

I binged a whole day of **Nobody Saves the World** this weekend, it's a lot of fun. We'll, until they introduced the ward mechanic, I find it a tad annoying so far. That, and the enemies auto leveling up with you. I wish that was optional. Sometimes I want that, other times I like to overlevel and steamroller through enemies like a boss.

Re: PS Plus, PS Now Merged Service Revealed, Goes Live in June

Kang81

@Titntin

Yeah, in that regard, I'd say it was a worthy trade. Thankfully Sony didn't end up making that horrible boomerang PS3 controller though. HA

As for the Dualsense, it could be my favorite controller ever, IF Sony does a few tweaks.

First, and it seems they have done so already if you get one of the newer colored controllers, which would be strengthening the springs in the haptic triggers. I already had the right trigger spring break within the first 6 months of use, and I barely used any pressure. At first I didn't even like the feature. I think I first used it extensively when Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart released and also in Deathloop. Now I don't know if the spring actually broke or just popped loose, but either way, I'm already worried about poor build quality of the Dualsense like the Dualshock 4. I have gone through about half a dozen Dualshock 4 controllers, yet still have all my original controllers for every other system I've ever owned and they all work flawlessly. Well, Joy-con aside. -_-

Second, fix stick drift. My second Dualsense that came with my console had stick drift right out of the box.

Third, release an elite version with back paddles, preferably 4 buttons. I never bothered buying expensive 3rd party "Pro" gamepads, but I did buy the back button attachment for the Dualshock 4. Once I became used to it, there really is no going back. I actually hated using my Dualsense when I first bought my PS5 because they lacked any back buttons.

Re: PS Store Sales Charts: Gran Turismo 7 Laps Elden Ring in Europe as Horizon Falls Off a Cliff

Kang81

I'm thoroughly enjoying Ghostwire Tokyo, far more than expected. It's actually kept me from finishing Horizon: Forbidden West. I'm also just a tad burned out with open world games at the moment, and while GWT is technically open world, it's not feeling like the usual open world games that can grow boring by being overly filled with content.

It's not without its faults though. The skill tree is pretty bland, the powers are mostly lackluster, and all the upgrades are about as bad as a skill tree can be. That said, the atmosphere, bright and colorful visuals, and decent story are really capturing my attention. I also really enjoy exploring this version of Tokyo. The traversal mechanics are not entirely unique, but they are a ton of fun. Making a game fun to traverse through is one of the highlights of gaming for me.

Re: PS Plus, PS Now Merged Service Revealed, Goes Live in June

Kang81

@get2sammyb

Well, they could make all the older games downloadable. Too bad Sony botched the PS3 with the cell processor. Between the price, telling people to get a 2nd job to afford one, the cell making it difficult to develop games for, and the cell being the reason PS3 backwards compatibility isn't available, Sony's decision to be different really backfired on them for gamers like me.

Re: Elden Ring Has Sold a Staggering 12 Million Copies Worldwide Since Launch

Kang81

@PhhhCough

I was wondering about that. I am not a fan of Soulslike games at all. I rented it for PS5 and it...seemed like a Souls game. 🤷‍♂️

I sent it back but will try renting it again on Series X since that's the console my brother has it on. I'm hoping co-op and perhaps a mage build could at least increase my interest in the game. I'm generally the type that likes in your face melee combat in action games with a focus on melee. I typically leave my ranged playstyle for shooters.

I do wish the combat was more like Sekiro though. I was surprisingly, really enjoying that game, up until the first boss fight.

Re: There's a Dino Crisis in Capcom's Exoprimal on PS5, PS4

Kang81

@lolwhatno

Oh, the series definitely needed a shakeup. I'm glad it got one.

I didn't play Unity at launch, I played it about a year after when I finally bought a PS4. By then I had very few issues and I really enjoyed it.

One thing I loved in Unity and I really want to see return is the co-op mode. PvP was unique, but I had lost interest in most PvP games by that point, but co-op was a blast.

Sadly Ubisofts decision to focus on single player only and stop working on PvP led to a stop to co-op as well. It's a shame.

Re: Playing Elden Ring's PS4 Version on PS5 Might Be Your Best Bet for a Stable Framerate

Kang81

@GalacticBreakdown

I get that, but I can love a game, but still heavily criticize it's faults. Just because I love a game doesn't mean I'll overlook it's faults.

Remedy's Control for example. I adore the game, but it was a long time before it was considered to have acceptable performance.

Why would I give a game a perfect score for what it **could** be, after months of fixes? A game should be reviewed for what it **is** on release.

I'm not saying it's not an amazing game, but faults shouldn't be overlooked because we're enamored with a game.

Re: There's a Dino Crisis in Capcom's Exoprimal on PS5, PS4

Kang81

So it's Earth Defense Force, with a decent budget, while taking the Javelins from Anthem but omitting the best part about them...the flying and Iron Man simulation.

The industry is feeling so homogenized and seemingly running out of unique or good ideas.

Maybe I've just become jaded, but I'm starting to lose more and more interest in this hobby as the industry heads in a direction I don't like.

🤷‍♂️

Maybe I should focus on my music again, at least then my wife will stop complaining I'm wasting a talent. 😄

Re: Hands On: Tiny Tina's Wonderlands Feels Like the Tightest, Most Polished Borderlands Yet

Kang81

"See, regardless of the effort that’s gone into the visuals here, Wonderlands is very much Borderlands 3, re-skinned. That was to be expected and is not any kind of surprise, really, but it’s so close to its predecessor that it all feels a touch redundant."

Going into Borderlands 3, all I wanted was more Borderlands, I didn't need a shakeup. Considering my brother and I never finished Borderlands 3, it turns out I do think I wanted a shakeup.

Borderlands 3 wasn't a big enough improvement gameplay-wise. I won't bother going on about the downgrades in writing, characters, and most of all the main villains.

Tiny Tina's Wonderlands looks to be too much of the same. Not enough of a shakeup for me to care. As someone who absolutely loved the first 2 in the series, I think I may just be done with it. A shame really.

Re: Playing Elden Ring's PS4 Version on PS5 Might Be Your Best Bet for a Stable Framerate

Kang81

@WallyWest

There is no perfect game, but to the masses, a 10 would likely be perceived as just that, a perfect game. I do get that, and I know games are difficult to make. BotW, performance aside, is limited by hardware and it was a first of its kind for the series. I'm not even blindly praising BotW, it has tons of issues for me.

However, this happens with every Fromsoft game, and it's not a hardware limitation. It's a developer issue. So why do they get a free pass?

If any other developer constantly released games with performance issues, they'd be heavily criticized.

Now Elden Ring clearly isn't a disaster like Cyberpunk, and it's not even as bad as Remedy's Control was on consoles for a long time, but it still seems so many reviewers choose to ignore the performance issues.

I cant think of any games out there that people vehemently defend more than a Fromsoft game or BotW. It's as if people are personally insulted when those games get criticized. It's just absurd.

Re: Playing Elden Ring's PS4 Version on PS5 Might Be Your Best Bet for a Stable Framerate

Kang81

@GalacticBreakdown

It bothers me because Fromsoft and Nintendo often get free passes on problems while reviewers and gamers will ream other games for it.

I will criticize any game, whether I love it or not or even if it's my favorite game ever. I'm not trying to hate on the game or developer, I know they make great games. Even though they're not for me.

I'm just critical of everything and when it happens to be something I don't often enjoy, people just usually give me a response like yours.

I dont want to diminish anyone's enjoyment of a game, but if a game is going to be praised as one of the best games ever, it should be as close to perfect as any game can be. Obviously performance issues should detract from a score. The whole, "well its a Fromsoft game, so we expect this" is a poor excuse.

Another problem is scores in and of themselves. People put too much value in a number. Oh, if it's not an 8 or above it's garbage and I won't play it. That's stupid.

I guess I just get more critical when games with issues get near unanimous praise while ignoring the issues. Not many reviews I've read for the game even mention performance issues.

I'm actually highly interested in Elden Ring, a first for me in regards to Fromsoft. Well, aside from Sekiro which I did enjoy, but found it too difficult. So it's a great game, just not for me.

Re: Elden Ring PS5 Patch Planned to Resolve Save Data Issues

Kang81

@Medic_Alert

I was listening to that podcast earlier today, I still need to finish it. However, one cast member even mention the game hitching on him mid swing during a boss fight resulting in his death.

It's clear a lot of people just overlook a games performance in their review scores. I feel performance issues should lower a score, no matter how good a game is. I'm not saying drop it from a 10 to a 7 or anything that drastic, bit it's enough to where it should keep it away from perfect 10's. Of which I feel no game released to date should even have a perfect 10.

Re: Playing Elden Ring's PS4 Version on PS5 Might Be Your Best Bet for a Stable Framerate

Kang81

@WallyWest

But it should matter. I don't get the rationale that it's ok because..."it's a Fromsoft game, they're all like that."

I was listening to Podcast Beyond today and one cast member mentioned how the game hitched on him mid swing and resulted in him dying during a boss fight.

I'm not trying to just talk s**t about the game. I'll admit Fromsoft games aren't for me, but im actually interested in a Fromsoft game for the first time.

If a game can't hit its targeted framerate regularly, than that should knock down it's score.

I'm critical of all games, even ones I love. For example, Control was an absolute mess on base PS4/XB1, to the point it would become a stop motion game. Yet the game still received tons of praise and that didn't reflect on its score for most reviewers. I loved the game, but it was a mess and it was unacceptable.

I actually think Elden Ring may help reinvent the open world game genre, and I'm happy for it because it needs it.

Right now PC players are saying it's a mess on PC, bit why should that be acceptable and the game still given perfect 10's?

If it takes multiple patches and weeks or months to fix, if at all, a game shouldn't get a free pass and still receive a perfect score. I still think no game has ever deserved a perfect 10.

Re: Playing Elden Ring's PS4 Version on PS5 Might Be Your Best Bet for a Stable Framerate

Kang81

@Matroska

Oh, I hear you, and I agree. I'm not a fan of BotW. It does some great things, and I give credit where it is due, but it is far from the greatest game ever made that so many claim it is.

While I'm not a soulslike fan, I am rather interested in Elden Ring. My brother is a souls fan and has tried to get me into them. Sekiro almost did as I was highly enjoying it, but then I came up against the first boss and said, no, still not for me. I have up playing games that cause stress and frustration.

I definitely feel like Nintendo above all others get the free pass treatment, it rrally bothers me too. Even something as common as accessibility options in games today, and for as much as Nintendo likes to brag its games are for all, they're probably the worst offender of giving gamers the most bare bones options to play a game ever.
