I think that was the whole point of the game. Enemies die in one hit, but so do you.
I've only tried the demo on Switch for a bit as it was the only place I'm aware of that has/had a demo. Not sure if it's still on there.
It would be great if there was a setting without the OHK mechanic.
I'm a big fan of Mirrors Edge, so I had hoped this was just a more action packed take on the idea.
**Edit**
I just discovered the devs added an accessibility mode. It's not an easy mode or anything, but it could help make the game less frustrating.
I may give it a go now. As I've gotten older, I no longer care about the whole 'Git Gud' fad in gaming. Indeed! I do hope this doesn't mean we'd ever not get a sequel. Instead of treating it like Destiny 2 and just constantly adding to it where it becomes overly bloated.
**EDIT** **I misread your comment as you "can't" understand, not "can". But I'll leave my original comment below regardless.**
At least in the case of Visceral, I'd leave too after EA ruined a good thing with Dead Space 3, and then shutting down their Star Wars game while simultaneously merging a large portion of thwir atudio into a Battlefield support studio. Particularly Battlefield Hardline, probably the worst in the series.
Between all that, and the tension behind the scenes, I don't blame them for leaving.
As for everyone else, it was likely lots of behind the scenes BS they grew tired of. Some probably wanted a change. Being in the AAA space for long periods of time, while working on similar games and all, sometimes a break out is needed.
1) How are the changes to the grappling hook? I read somewhere previously Techland changed it. It's supposedly less like Batman's, and more in line with how one would really work. Have we lost our ability to zip to the top of a building via grapple? (Please...no! ๐)
2) How is the stamina in the game? I read stamina works with the Paraglider. Hopefully we can hang on for a decent amount of time.
I was kind of hoping the Dying Light 1 grapple and the new paraglider would work somewhat like they do in the Just Cause series. ๐ Doubtful though.
3) My biggest concern with the game are little design annoyances. Are there a lot of them in the game, or anything in particular off the top of your head?
For example, I've read about a constant meter ticking before you turn into a zombie, with varying degrees of speed. I believe it was something like your chance at turning becomes slower during the day but faster at night. Something of that nature.
I honestly find mechanics like this highly annoying. If it's obtrusive enough, it would turn me off the game entirely.
What's the point of spending all that money and buying Bungie then?
Listen, I do not want more of all this console exclusive BS, but this seems like a waste.
Unless I missed this part somewhere. Bungie will still independently develop and can still self publish, but does Sony own the rights to whatever they create or publish?
This is cool for fans of the game, but I really wish Sony would make their State of Play presentations about more than one game. Or at least have more frequent presentations.
You know what would be nicer? Letting us choose to ONLY insall one or the other. So we could save precious PS5 HDD space by only installing the one being played.
This is something I think all game 'collections' need to allow. Same if I only want to install the single player portion and not the multi-player of a game if I have no desire to play it, or vice versa.
Well a nice compromise would be having it powered down in the beginning of HFW, or not usable at all. Geurilla could have us quest for a replacement power source, one that we wouldn't get until the end game, basically making it a new game plus piece of equipment.
I only really used it in the Frozen Wilds DLC , the Frostclaw/Fireclaw enemy types were a bit of a pain in the butt when first encountered.
Honestly, I'm ok with it not being in the game as long as we get some cool new armor sets. Most of the sets in HZD were lackluster in both usage and looks.
I just want better perks on armors, and better designs. I'd also love a transmog system.
I haven't paid more than $40/year for PS+ in a long time. I'm also set for years. I'll still mildly complain at times because I don't want a bed trend to continue. I'm mostly satisfied with the service.
Oftentimes I don't care about any of the games. I often own the good ones already due to PS+ discounts and sales. So it's partly my own fault for being displeased. There are very few games left I even want.
Agreed! We currently have the return of PS3 launch era arrogant Sony. They are going to screw things up for themselves again. It's like every generation these companies go from being on the top, to being on the bottom, and vice versa.
Sony better hit it out of the park with whatever changes they're planning, because right now, PS+ hasn't been worth the price of admission for about at least the past 6 months.
Yeah, just when I thought tying trophies to difficulty settings was bad enough, even worse when the hardest difficulties are sometimes locked to 2nd playthrough.
But a speed run trophy? Where I can play for 4 hours and 1 minute, botch the trophy, and have to start over again? No thanks!
The other major annoying type of trophy is one that requires multiple playthroughs to get. Prey for example would need at least 4 playthroughs to get the platinum. Get that crap outta here.
I plan on upgrading, but I've no desire to go the the theater these days. I just got over covid, don't want it again. Plus, the movie doesn't look that good. They really miscast the movie.
Nope, it's just to confuse people and hope they buy it on PS5. Plus, the store on the PS5 doesn't show the PS4 version, so you'll only see that on the mobile/PC storefront or the PS4 storefront.
Sony still trying to squeeze that extra $10 out of gamers. ๐
That is very annoying, I hate seeing the PS4 version of a disc game constantly asking to be installed, but even more, I hate seeing two icons on the home screen.
FarCry 6 could have been great, but they screwed it up with removing the skill tree, adding the ammo types, and making enemies RPG bullet sponges.
Seriously, it was the same mistake with GR Breakpoint.
Ubisoft is more concerned with continuous revenue than just putting out a good single player offline game.
Maybe I'm just becoming jaded, but im seriously starting those interest in this hobby the more publishers try to milk us for every penny they can. They ruin good games in order to do so.
I bought legion on a deep sale, I actually ended up liking it quite a bit. The whole play as anyone gimmick was the biggest issue. It just wasn't very fun. Itimited your playstyle when I think a single character with a progression/skill system would have been better.
I actually really enjoyed the opening character you play as in the game. They should have kept the character as the protagonist.
Meh, both Battlefield and CoD have been irrelevant for me for over a decade. I suppose this could be good news for some, but I'd argue it's bad news for all.
EA is already notorious for loot boxes and micro-transactions, and from what I recall, the last couple Battlefield games went all in on this. Particularly 2042 with having the kill animations go to a 3rd person camera view to help sell more finishing animations.
I can only imagine how much worse the game would be if it went F2P.
I believe the challenges are a week long, maybe more? I've been off the game for about a month, so I can't recall. Just make sure you go in game and get your one enemy kill and your good to claim it.
I also can't remember what happens to the limited weapons after a challenge time period.
They either dissappear, or perhaps get added to the Ubisoft Club rewards but then require your Ubi Points to unlock them. I do believe once you've participated and unlocked it, you can claim it whenever. Not sure if there is a claim time limit, but I've claimed items a couple weeks after the community challenge ended as long as I met the participation requirement before hand.
Perhaps someone else can further clarify this for me.
I'd definitely go for it. The scythe is a fun weapon in Valhalla. I believe the Wrath of the Druids has one with rather boring perks, the store has one, which I did buy against my usual better judgement, but I like it a lot, and then there is this one. It's definitely not a weapon that has many variants as far as I recall.
An additional reminder, the Valhalla festival was extended until January 29th I believe, so if there is anything worthwhile in the festival, this weekend into next week is your time to get it.
I'm going to work on the festival this weekend. I've only participated in the last 3, but they've all been easy to complete and unlock all the rewards within a few hours of game time. I appreciate Ubisoft didn't make them huge time sinks akin to something like Destiny.
"Microsoft to acquire Activision Blizzard to bring the joy and community of gaming to everyone, across every device."
Surely they have Playstation gamers at heart too.
๐
Oh wait, except for Sony devices. I didn't fall for that line of BS when they said it about Bethesda, an acquisition I actually cared about.
My brother and I have been discussing the decline of this hobby for quite a while now. Long before even the Bethesda acquisition.
The industry is just losing its appeal.
MTX galore

Loot Boxes

Now Microsoft trying not to outdo the competition, but effectively kill it off.
None of this is good for the industry. Plus, AAA games have become stale and redundant.
It's becoming more and more likely I'll just find a new hobby.
It really depends, but I'd say for a single player campaign, 10-20 hours is ideal. Double that for all the bonus stuff like collectibles, side quests, challenges, puzzles, etc.
Anything over 40 hours is really pushing it.
The only games I spend over 100 hours on are open world games like Assassin's Creed, Ghost of Tsushima, Horizon Zero Dawn, etc. To be honest, a lot of that time is wasted on useless tasks.
I'd much prefer a smaller length game with replayability over a game that requires over 100 hours to complete. It's very seldom I complete games of that length anymore.
A good example of a nice balance between linear games and open world games, my two most played genres, are games like the Tomb Raider reboot trilogy and the latest God of War. They really hit that sweet spot for me.
I bought it, I'm enjoying it so far, but I'm only a few hours in. I've beaten two bosses so far.
Combat is closer to a 2D Souls-like, I guess more like Blasphemous than most Metroidvaniaโs. Parrying is a main mechanic, and your attacks are basically spirits attacking for you. They feel fine, and combat isn't too difficult.
You have limited health restoration, I believe 3 uses at the start, but it can be upgraded. My one irritation so far is the dodge mechanic. Your character just falls forward like she tripped. It feels very weird and it's not as useful as most backdashes or rolls. However, I've read it gets upgraded to a forward dash at some point in the game.
Most importantly, you lose nothing on death but having to return to the nearest checkpoint. So it has some soulslike ideas, but none of the things I generally dislike about those games, like loss of valuable resources.

Most importantly, you lose nothing on death but having to return to the nearest checkpoint. So it has some soulslike ideas, but none of the things I generally dislike about those games, like loss of valuable resources.
