Re: Samsung Designing New 980 Pro SSD Model Around PS5

Kang81

Well I'll just be playing HDD Tetris for a few years until these prices decline. 1TB is hardly enough, and I'm not paying nearly the cost of the entire console just to double that.

Sure, it's cheaper to buy the heat sink separately, but it's still far too expensive for my liking.

The ever frustrating first world problems of inadequate storage space in modern electronics shall continue.

Re: Far Cry 6 (PS5) - The Best Game in the Series, Sort Of

Kang81

The ammo system and gear system sound like unnecessary annoyances, but I'll find out soon enough.

I'll be waiting for the inevitable 50% off sale around the holidays that Ubisoft usually has. I've learned to just wait a couple months on new Ubisoft releases. They almost always go on deep discount, very quick.

Re: Poll: Did You Buy Far Cry 6?

Kang81

I have zero reason to buy FarCry 6 right now. My brother and I still have to beat FarCry 5.

Besides, I fully expect to see the Uber edition of FarCry 6 on sale for 50% off by Black Friday.

I've learned long ago to never buy an Ubisoft game on launch. They go on a deeply discounted sale not long after launch.

I will 100% buy it on sale soon enough though. I enjoy the FarCry series, and it's one of the few co-op experiences my brother and I enjoy playing together.

Re: Feature: 12 PS5 Firmware Updates We Want to See

Kang81

EDITED

I would love more stats. I'm talking the amount of stats that the end of the year in review stats from console makers sometimes release. Or the stats screens within a game. I'd like to be able to see those without launching a game.

I do want folders, and pins would be nice as well. I'd take themes, but I feel too much useless stuff would cover up the theme.

Actually, being able to choose what is and isn't on the home screen would be great. I dont need the news feed taking up the entire lower half of my screen, just condense that into one small tile and if I want to read it, I'll select it. .

I really like how The Division 2 let's you rearrange the size, location, transparency, or just remove things off the in game HUD. That would be a great feature for console UI's! Then I'd take themes, ones I can actually view!

I really want the ability to select a games icon, press start, and be able to check for updates anywhere, within the library, folders (if we get them), etc.

I absolutely hate having to launch a game not in the recently played bar on the home screen just to see if it needs an update.

I never keep games on auto update in case an update screws something up or something gets nerfed in a game I can play offline that I don't want nerfed.

I absolutely do not care about a web browser on the PS5. I'm honestly surprised people still request web browsers on consoles. They've always been a horrible and cumbersome experience.

I can't see many people who own a console not owning a smart phone, tablet, or computer to use a web browser over a game console. 🤷‍♂️

Re: PS Store Plunges the Price of Over 400 Hidden Gems

Kang81

@Panic_Attache

At first I was going to say I'm sure it was, but for some reason everytime I hear of Maquette, I think of The Puppeteer back on PS3.

So I don't know if Maquette was ever on PS+. I know for a fact that The Puppeteer was though.

Re: Round Up: Far Cry 6 Reviews Paint a Familiar Open World Picture

Kang81

@amenohi

Yeah, FarCry is one of the last great co-op experiences on the market. If they change it too much, my brother and I would be really disappointed.

Right now all we have is FarCry, Dying Light, Gears of War, and for now some of the Tom Clancy games. I expect the latter to no longer be an option for us soon.

Re: Round Up: Far Cry 6 Reviews Paint a Familiar Open World Picture

Kang81

I dont think FarCry needs a drastic change, especially with the way Ubisoft is heading as of late. Its comforting to know some games stick to what works as trying to shake things up can sometimes lead to an inferior experience.

That being said, I'm not against some changes and in fact will welcome them. I think Ubisoft just goes too hard in filling their maps with repetitive content. I'd love to see FarCry take a little bit from Elder Scrolls or Tomb Raider in regards to exploration.

Maybe even have another go at a more fantasy or sci-fi setting. Mixing it up with some Dishonored/Prey/Deathloop mechanics. Actually, I just want to see Arkane tackle something like Elder Scrolls.

I'm really surprised that Ubisoft didn't make a full fledged Blood Dragon style FarCry again.

All in all, I'm ok with FarCry not changing much. I'd appreciate little tweaks here and there and more traversal options. Perhaps a grappling hook usable nearly everywhere?

Just stay away from any multi-player outside of co-op, and for the love of God, don't make a FarCry Battle Royale F2P game.

Re: God of War Wins IGN's Big Best Video Game of All Time Poll

Kang81

The brackets were pretty bad, but im ok with God of War winning. It's an amazing game and deserves recognition.

As much as I love it, I still don't know about best game of all time. I'm just glad GTA or BotW didn't win. They're also great games, objectively, but nowhere near best of all time either.

I totally expected BotW to win, and it would have irritated me if it did. It's nowhere near as perfect as people believe.

Re: Kena: Bridge of Spirits Exploit Lets You Skip Second Playthrough to Get Tough Trophy

Kang81

I've heard the game wasn't overly long, so I'd probably just play it again since it looks gorgeous. Of course, I won't know how difficult it is or if I'll feel that way in November when the physical release arrives.

On a side note, I've grown tired of lazy trophies like beat the game on ___ difficulty level. More so when you can't even start out on the most difficult level to begin with.

Eh, I stopped caring about bragging rights of beating games on the most difficult settings back in the 360 days before Playstation even had trophies.

That being said, I'm also tired of the typical...grab all collectibles, do all side missions, etc., etc.

I only go out of my way to platinum a game if I absolutely love it and want to explore and collect everything. But games like Assassin's Creed and similar titles with their collectibles trophies are a chore.

I want creative trophies. To this day, some of the most fun I ever had earning achievements/trophies was in the original Crackdown for the 360.

Getting air time for long periods, multi directional flips in a vehicle, etc, where tons of fun.

I wish developers would focus on making earning trophies and achievements fun to earn and less of a chore. For example, I love Arkane Studios, and I've played Dishonored multiple times, but in Prey, it would take a minimum of 4 plathroughs to unlock the platinum. Each playthrough forcing a specific playstyle in your run to do so.

No thanks.

Re: Far Cry 6 Sure Does Look Like Far Cry in Latest Previews

Kang81

I think it's time for FarCry to have a slight shakeup. Nothing to reinvent the wheel, but a big enough change. Similar to how Assassin's Creed has changed since the release of Origins.

I honestly don't understand why Ubisoft just hasn't taken the batsh*t crazy idea and setting of FarCry Blood Dragon and made an entire game out of it. 🤷‍♂️

Just don't get rid of co-op! FarCry is one of the last good co-op games my brother and I have fun with. Actually, a co-op Blood Dragon would be awesome!

Re: Deathloop Is All About the PS5 DualSense Controller in New Trailer

Kang81

That all sounds good, but after Sony even advertised Deathloop in their Roguelike category on PSN for quite a while, I'll probably pass. Arkane is one of my favorite studios, but I just want a traditional Sim game like Dishonored or Prey from them. I'd have loved to see them try a hand at Thief.

[EDIT: The rest of my comment is just me going off on a tangent about poor quality control and build quality of electronics these days, including the Dualsense it may seem.]

On a side note, I've now lost faith in the build quality of the Dualsense. I just had a spring pop in the right trigger. It still works, for the most part, but its lost all tension.

I've always taken great care of my electronics, I have tons of decades old electronics that work today like they did the day I bought them. However, since the days of the Xbox 360, I have lost faith in all hardware manufacturers.

Either build quality has severely declined, or I have had a decade of bad luck with electronics. Maybe a black cat crossed my path or some other superstitious BS.

I went through 8 RRoD 360's, a YLoD Backwards Compatibile PS3, a Vita with a faulty cartridge slot within a couple weeks of use, and an iPhone that would not charge within a month of purchase. I also had 4 Dualshock 4's with a faulty left thumb stick, an $80 pair of Joy-cons with horrible drift, along with a 2nd new pair I bought at launch and haven't opened that will likely have drift issues not long after use as well.

Now, I have a Dualsense trigger that had an internal spring pop/break for a console I've had for 4 months. A controller Sony even has the nerve to charge $70 for. One that I had thought would have improved on the poor quality or at least poor quality control of the Dualshock 4, because the Dualsense certainly feels like high quality.

Yeah, no, that's too many problems for even bad luck. I call that companies cutting corners and making cheaper products.

Re: PS5's Lighter, Revised Hardware Model Has Already Gone on Sale

Kang81

Was the screw really an issue?

Who doesn't have a screwdriver, coin, or a butter knife but bought a PS5?

There are lots of things that could have been used. Plus, like someone mentioned above, I thought the system came with a tool for the screw.

I can see if they went with a less common screw head like a torx, hex, or square bit, as many people may not have those. 🤷‍♂️

Re: Assassin's Creed Odyssey Runs at 60FPS on PS5 with New Patch

Kang81

Awesome!

I've currently put Odyssey on hold and have been absorbed in Valhalla after giving it a second chance. I've grown to like it much more since my initial 10 hours with the game. I still have major issues with it, but there is a lot to like and a few of the changes, not many, are actually good and hopefully stick around.

Anyway, I knew going back to Odyssey would be tough only due to the framerate. I've never been one to care for framerate much, but after being able to toggle between 30fps and 60fps at will on games, I've been converted.

Re: Shadow of the Tomb Raider Patched to Run 4K, 60fps on PS5

Kang81

Cool, gives me an excuse to go back and Platinum the game. While it wasn't as good as the 1st two, I enjoyed it. Particularly the larger focus on puzzles over combat, I missed that about Lara Croft.

Although, I did find it a bit funny that by the end of the game I actually wanted more combat, just to put the new stealth mechanics to more use.

Re: Deathloop Is High-Intensity Dishonored on PS5, And We're Here for It

Kang81

@PossibLeigh

Ok, so is it a start over at a checkpoint, or start over completely from the start again? If I die on the final boss type enemy,, do I have to fight them all over again? Because it seems marketed as starting all over again like that.

If that's the case, it's taking elements of a RogueLike, it doesn't have to be procedurally generated to borrow ideas from Roguelike games.

So many games today are borrowing roguelike and souls like mechanics. I just want to be informed correctly so I can base a purchase decision on a game. I dont enjoy roguelikes or soulslike games, or the mechanics borrowed from them, so I don't want to spend money on them.

Hitman is one of the few stealth games I've never gotten into, no idea why to be honest. Is it basically restarting a level over from scratch then?

Re: Deathloop Is High-Intensity Dishonored on PS5, And We're Here for It

Kang81

I love Arkane Studios, they're one of my favorite developers. I also love the Dishonored series as well as Prey. Deathloop should be right up my alley, but I really have no interest in playing it.

For starters, whether it's been officially labeled as a Roguelike or not, it sure fits the bill. I'm not a fan of the genre, and they've joined forces with Souls-like as most copied and overused genre. Kinda hard to think of a Metroidvania sounding title for Roguelike and Souls-like.

Strike one

As much as I love Arkane's games, they definitely do not have the feeling of a top notch shooter with smooth controls like Destiny or CoD. So seeing how much shooting is involved with this, I'd say it won't feel good enough for a Roguelike experience...in my opinion.

Strike 2

Finally, it just looks bland, dreary, and uninteresting.

Strike 3

Deathloop...you're out!

Re: Tales of Arise Fully Animated Opening Movie Is Pretty Hype

Kang81

So, are they going to completely block out all screenshots again? I noticed Berseria didn't allow me to and after a quick Google search, I found out a few Tales games blocked this feature entirely.

I've been taking screenshots and video of nearly every game I play for years. The introduction of photo mode into tons of games has only increased my desire to do so. So much so I have nearly as much time spent on photo capture as I do time spent playing a game. I was in quite a few screenshot groups on PS4 communities before Sony annoyingly decided to do away with them.

Re: Deal: Physical PS5 Games Get Significant Price Cuts

Kang81

@Total_Weirdo

I agree, that news was unexpected, so I'm sure Gearbox will want to try and get as much money as they can first.

It's not a horrible game, just nothing really special outside of the pretty graphics. Definitely not worth the next gen games price point.
