Re: Sony's Backwards PS4 to PS5 Upgrade System Is Still Causing Headaches

Kang81

Yeah, this is a mess for sure. However, the top honor of most convoluted PS4 to PS5 upgrade still belongs to Control. Though I believe that fiasco is all due to the games publisher, 505 Games. Yeah, the same publisher involved in the Bloodstained port for Switch fiasco. I will always take the opportunity to talk s#!t about 505 Games.

Re: There's Definitely a New Ghostbusters Game on the Way

Kang81

Unless Terminal Reality is involved, which it seems is not the case according to this article, then I won't get my hopes up.

Terminal Reality is the only studio to ever make not only a good Ghostbusters game, but a great one. What a mistep to not get them involved again.

Re: Poll: What Is Your PS5, PS4 Game of the Year 2021?

Kang81

@Saltborne

I'm highly interested in Deaths Door, but the lack of truly desirable games for me this generation has led me to finally work on my backlog. At least games in my backlog I know I can and want to finish, the rest, I'll chalk it up to poor spending decisions as ill never bother with them.

It'll have to wait.

Re: Godfall's PS Plus Version Is All Endgame Content, No Story Campaign

Kang81

@Spiders

That's not exactly my problem, I don't buy too many on day one, I just buy too many on sales. 😆

Honestly, every sale for the past 2 years has been disappointing for me as well.

In regards to PS5 games, they're aren't many. In regards to PS4, by this point in a consoles life cycle, I've most likely purchased everything of interest, many at a deep discount.

Re: Poll: What's Your Favourite PS5 Game So Far?

Kang81

Ratchet and Clank is winning baby! Woo-hoo! 😆

My personal top 3

1) Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart

2) Deathloop (surprised, as much as I love Arkane Studios, I initially had zero interest in Deathloop. I'm glad I gave it a chance.

3) Assassin's Creed Valhalla

Re: Ghost of Tsushima Patch 2.12 Will Rebalance Legends Multiplayer Mode

Kang81

Its been quite some time since my brother and I played Legends Mode, so forgive me if this has already been addressed, but I doubt it.

The only update I want is the removal of stances being tied to the weapons. Allowing a player only one stance needlessly restrictive and its only exacerbated by the fact players are so used to changing stances on the fly from the main game.

It's honestly the main reason my brother and I stopped playing the mode after a few weeks. It's just not fun, and therefore negates any reason to even play.

I guess most people are ok with this though, so not much I can do. It's just refreshing to have a co-op game that isn't focused on guns. There aren't enough of them IMO. Dead Island/Dying Light, AC Unity's co-op, Splinter Cell Conviction/Blacklist (we would try to avoid using gums at all), etc.

Re: Square Enix Insinuates Crystal Dynamics Was the Wrong Dev for Marvel's Avengers

Kang81

Yeah, let's force a developer known for single player games into making a Destiny clone with the Marvel's Avengers property when Bungie who essentially created the genre still can't get it right. Wow!

Way to pass the blame there Square Enix. The success of Guardians of the Galaxy just shows how out of touch Square Enix is. How about you let your developers focus on what they're good at instead of trying to chase trends, a trend that barely works for anyone as is, and force a dev into making a constant money machine for your company.

Square Enix sure loves to blame everyone else for its incompetence. 😡

Re: The Original Tomb Raider Celebrates 25th Anniversary

Kang81

@Gamer83

Yeah, I had heard of the series long before I played it. I was never a PC gamer, but I did try a demo for the original game long before CD handled the first reboot. It was nigh unplayable for me. I wasn't going to bother.

The first CD reboot was sooo good. Yeah, I get that she was still hyper sexualized, but nothing as bad as some other games I've seen, particularly many coming out of Japan.

I'm fine with the new Lara Croft, though I do really miss her better than though arrogant tone. Haha

More than anything, I miss the puzzle and exploration design of the first reboot. Jumping off the boat into the ocean in the start of Underworld was great. The new games just don't compare to the sense of wonder in the exploration and puzzles of the previous trilogy.

I hope the next Tomb Raider game goes back to its roots.

I agree, the fact SE did nothing for the 25th anniversary is a bummer. I'd have even taken remasters of the first reboot.

Of you haven't played them, the isometric Diablo style Tomb Raider games are equally amazing. I want more of them as well, remasters would be great too.

Re: Talking Point: Did You Enjoy Sony's Latest State of Play Livestream?

Kang81

Ok, Sony/Nintendo/Xbox, listen up.

Can we just stop having these mini reveal events unless you actually have something significant to reveal?

Nothing in this State of Play justified even having a State of Play. Everything could have been announced individually and randomly on the Playstation Blog, PS YouTube acct., or PS Twitter feed.

🤦‍♂️

Re: The Original Tomb Raider Celebrates 25th Anniversary

Kang81

@johncalmc

Crystal Dynamics first Tomb Raider reboot is still the better set of games IMO. I loved Legend, Anniversary, and Underworld.

I want that core gameplay and exploration back. They can do away with Lara's overly sexy appeal, I don't care, but we didn't need Lara to become the savior of all mankind and a one woman army to do away with the sexism.

Re: Deathloop Patch 1.1 Fixes PS5 Specific Issues and Glitches

Kang81

@Nepp67

I think the update did the opposite. Sure, the enemy AI was pretty dumb before the patch, but now every enemy is a world class bloodhound. 🤦‍♂️🙄

I can kill a guy with the silenced pistol on one end of a large area on a level, only to have a 30 second delayed response of...hey, that better not be Colt! Which then leads to me being instantly spotted no matter how well I'm hiding.

So the AI basically went from stupid (even after killing all the visionaries) to annoyingly broken in the sense enemies are alerted by things that should not have alerted them. I wanted better AI, not cheap AI.

Plus, on PS5 I'm now having visual glitches with geometry in the levels flickering, and sound issues. After the update, now sound effects are delayed. If I shoot a gun, the sound effect is delayed a few seconds. Same if I melee a wall, kick out a window or door, etc.

Re: Crysis Remastered Trilogy (PS4) - A Franchise with an Identity Crysis

Kang81

Cryteks' games have always been bland in everything but the visuals. The Crysis series was never really good in my opinion. The whole idea of the nanosuit was to make you feel like a killing machine, yet I never felt any more powerful than your average run of the mill FPS protagonist. The nanosuit just felt...weak.

I do have a soft spot for Ryse from Crytek though. It's still a bland game, but it had more appeal to me than anything else Crytek made. Sure, it was just a bare bones and visually stunning launch game, but I had hoped they would have improved upon the gameplay with a sequel. Instead, Crytek went with a F2P game, and I've heard nothing of the studio since. 🤷‍♂️

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Deathloop?

Kang81

I love Arkane Studios, they're one of my favorite developers. That being said, while I really enjoy Deathloop, it's nowhere near the perfect 10 score it's received from numerous outlets.

I'd give it an 8. I still prefer the story structure of Dishonored and Prey over Deathloop. However, the voice acting cast in Deathloop is great. Particularly the dialog between Colt and Juliana.
