Re: PS Plus Extra, Premium PS5, PS4 Games for October 2022 Announced

Kang81

@Milktastrophe

Yeah, that's my conclusion as well. I don't usually take Twitter notices as fact, but I was hopeful. I bought it again for dirt cheap on Xbox a while ago and just now on Steam Deck again dirt cheap. The portability factor is nice and I think I'll just play the whole game on SD. I've kind of given up on Ubisoft doing anything to benefit consumers.

They've gone from one of my favorite publishers who tried new things, to an AC/Ghost Recon/FarCry machine with too many tiresome and overused mechanics. They're just becoming lifeless games now.

Re: PS Plus Extra, Premium PS5, PS4 Games for October 2022 Announced

Kang81

@DETfaninATL

You and me both! I would love to replay them on a modern console. The Vita game was fun too from what I played of it. I just couldn't finish it, or any other 1st/3rd person shooters on Vita because the control sticks where to imprecise for me to get used to and I hate all things gyro/motion controlled.

In fact, I'd say most Vita games could work on PS4/PS5. The touch pad can make up for touch controls or things like rubbing dirt from artifacts in Uncharted Golden Abyss. The only game I recall needing to use the rear touchpad was Tearaway and its already been remade/ported to PS4.

Re: PS Plus Extra, Premium PS5, PS4 Games for October 2022 Announced

Kang81

@Korgon

Sam here, I'm still hopeful, but not expecting anything.

I believe I bought it on Xbox for $5 w awhile back. I just didn't want to restart my save. However, I did just grab it on Steam to play on the Steam Deck. I believe it was under $10. Still may be if that's an option for you.

It looks good and runs great all things considered. I think the portability will make up for starting over. I forgot just how much fun the grapple mechanic was. It's OP for traversal, but I dont care. I always say EVERY game is better with a grappling hook. Haha

@AndroidBango

I see your Twitter Link, but im almost positive it was only just recently Ubisoft officially stated it was looking into the issues of Syndicate on PS5 again?

**Edit**

From July of this year.

https://www.pushsquare.com/news/2022/07/ubisoft-working-on-fix-for-assassins-creed-syndicate-bugs-on-ps5

This newest tweet would seem to indicate they just said f*#! It. In which case, Ubisoft is forever going downhill in my opinion and support with their bungling ways over the recent years.

**Edit 2**

I see the link to the Ubisoft support tweet about looking into fixing Syndicate, which is linked in the Push Square article is no longer available. ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ˜‘

Re: PS Plus Extra, Premium PS5, PS4 Games for October 2022 Announced

@Orpheus79V

So many games they can remake or port to PS4/PS5, especially games locked to the PS3, yet we get a TLoU remake and a rumored Horizon Zero Dawn remake instead? Two games in no need of a remake. ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ

I've played the first 3rd of TLoU Pt1, while it looks better and has some improvements, I stopped playing it and sent it back to GameFly (yes it still exists and is still a good service). I am more than happy just playing the PS4 remaster again on PS5.

I'd still love a remastered or remade Resistance: Fall of Man Trilogy, you cant even stream the trilogy, only the 3rd game. How about remaking the God of War games up to the level of GoW 2018 and GoW Ragnarรถk?

How about porting all the PS3 Ratchet & Clank games off the system? I'm not even a big fan of inFamous, but the first 2 games are still locked to the PS3. What about the Sly Cooper collection? Also locked on the PS3.

How about porting PS Vita games to the PS4/PS5? The touch pad can be used to mimic the touch screen functions, and outside of a few games, I don't recall the back touch pad being used much. Tearaway? Already remade for PS4. Uncharted Golden Abyss? I can't say, I stopped playing because the sticks on the Vita were horrible for 3rd/1st person shooters and gyro aiming is worse.

Sony is just confusing lately.

Re: PS Plus Extra, Premium PS5, PS4 Games for October 2022 Announced

Kang81

PS+ Premium is giving 4 streaming only games ๐Ÿคฎ and 3 identical back to back games in a series? Yeah, I definitely won't be keeping Premium when my free upgrade runs out. I may go with Extra, but its usually adding games I already own so normal PS Plus it may be again. ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

Re: Talking Point: What Do You Make of Microsoft and Sony's Call of Duty Quarrel?

Kang81

I haven't cared about CoD since the original Modern Warfare 2 game so this doesn't effect me.

I do find the whole thing to be childish however.

Instead of Microsoft spending the time, money, and resources into righting the sinking ship that was the XB1 after its arguably disastrous reveal, they just go on a spending spree instead.

First it was creating Game Pass, then it was paying publishers/developers large sums of money to add their games to the Game Pass service on day one. Which isn't inherently a bad thing as it provides a service with a large appeal to many gamers. I still feel it was incredibly lazy on Microsoft's part.

When Game Pass wasn't even enough, Microsoft just went on an even bigger spending spree and decided to start buying some of the biggest publishers/developers in the entire industry.

Whatever happened to those new studios Microsoft talked about years ago? Especially all the boasting they made of getting big names from the industry to start the world's first AAAA developer? ๐Ÿ™„ The last thing the industry needs is anything more costly than AAA games development. ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ

Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but if my memory serves me well, Microsoft was also the one to start the whole timed console exclusive BS. Which coincidentally, started with month long exclusivity on new CoD PvP map releases.

Also, I believe it was recently revealed in an interview with Peter Moore, that Microsoft started, or at the very least propagated the entire push for the Xbox vs PS console wars. He said it was to bolster competition, but I feel it stained the entire hobby of gaming by pushing a childish rivalry among fans.

I'm not just hating on Xbox either. I loved my 360 enough to go through 8 of them despite the horrible production quality of them.

None of the big 3 are saints, they all have many major faults that are bad for the industry and gamers/consumers. None of these companies do the things they do for the "fans", Its just business for them.

I just feel Microsoft is stirring up ๐Ÿ’ฉ because it likes to. Xbox has always had that dudebro aura surrounding everything they do.

Re: Mini Review: Cursed to Golf (PS5) - A Fun, Hilarious Spin on the Roguelike

Kang81

All these 2D side scroller style golf games remind me of Super Stickman Golf from back in the early days of the iOS App store. All 3 were excellent games, and are also on the Google Play store if anyone who enjoys Cursed to Golf is looking for similar games. They're much simpler and bare bones, bit still great fun! I'm glad to see more involved takes coming to consoles.

Re: In the Crossover of the Century, Destiny 2 Is Getting Fortnite Skins

Kang81

@Dudeman1

Not only is Microsoft giving away GP for practically pennies and often, just how much money are they giving to publishers/developers to even consider being on GamePass?

I'm not sure what kind of profits Microsoft is making on GamePass, or like you said, if any at all. Right now they're doing everything they can to build that install base to hopefully reach those Netflix subscriber numbers.

I understand the idea of a Netflix of gaming is great to a lot of people, but I prefer to own my games. ๐Ÿ˜„ As if anybody actually does these days. ๐Ÿ˜‘

Plus, I would feel pressured to rush through games on a subscription service because a lot of the games are on short time limits before being removed, even shorter for the big name games.

Re: Rumour: Immortals Fenyx Rising Spin-Off Is Inspired by Polynesian Mythology

Kang81

@Th3solution

No doubt, Greek Mythology as much as I love it is the most used Mythology. We've had a major use of Norse Mythology of late as well. So I am all for representing other Mythologies, I love learning about them.

I had forgotten about how Indian culture and myths were. I haven't learned much about them since graduating from high school. Which was looong ago.

I didn't even think Polynesian myths and religions would be so diverse. Pure lack of knowledge on my part. I see how that can be difficult to tackle without omitting some aspects or just mashing them altogether, which wouldn't be accurate.

Re: Rumour: Immortals Fenyx Rising Spin-Off Is Inspired by Polynesian Mythology

Kang81

@Th3solution

I love Greek and Norse Mythology, and to a lesser extent (only by lack of knowledge) Japanese and Chinese Mythology.

I know next to nothing about Indian or Polynesian Mythology. That said, I loved the animated film Moana, and I found its Polynesian Mythology to be very intriguing and entertaining, so I am all for an Immortals game set in a Polynesian setting.

Re: Rumour: Immortals Fenyx Rising Spin-Off Is Inspired by Polynesian Mythology

Kang81

Awesome, I loved Immortals Fenyx Rising. It had the fun of an Assassin's Creed game sans the AC stuff. That way they could go full on fantasy and not be tied to a semi-reality setting. I'm also glad to hear that it's supposedly getting rid of a lot of its BotW influence. I hope they remove the stamina guage, it's an annoying mechanic in any game. I look forward to what they do next.

Immortals is the route Ubisoft should have taken with the pirate setting of Black Flag. It didn't need to go with the cartoon-like visuals that Immortals did, just remove the AC ties. They could have gone all out fantasy based in ways too. We could have battled the Kraken, Davy Jones, Black Beard, skeletons, voodoo shamans on mysterious uncharted islands, etc.

What do we get instead? Skull & Bones. ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ
A live service PvP pirate game made to push micro-transactions and "recurrent spending" BS. No doubt Ubisoft will try to ad their NFT Quartz BS into the game despite its utter failure in Ghost Recon Breakpoint.

There are currently reports that even it's own developers are revealing that what little is on offer with the game is shallow and underdeveloped. ๐Ÿ˜‘๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ

Re: UK Sales Charts: Horizon Forbidden West Soars Back to the Top

Kang81

The new PS5 bundle that includes HFW aside, isn't this bad news in a way? With the amount of PS4's out there and the major hurdle people are still going through to hopefully aquire a PS5, surely sales could be even higher.

I love HFW, as I did HZD, but I wonder how many people are just holding off on the game entirely until they can get their hands on a PS5.

I can't speak for anyone else, but my brother told me he had all kinds of issues with HFW running on his launch PS4. Such so that he just stopped playing it until he could get a PS5.

I was lucky enough to be able to get him one a week or so ago with a Best Buy restock.

Anyway, I'm glad to see HFW doing so well, and deservedly so. I really hope we get another big expansion size DLC.

Re: Lollipop Chainsaw Remake Revealed for 2023

Kang81

@GorosBat

I agree, that era had tons of great AA games, which is where I would put this game.

Everything is so cookie cutter these days In regards to AAA games. I definitely feel a drastic drop in odd yet fun games like we had on the 360/PS3. The best we have now are indie games.

Re: This Is the Closest You'll Ever Get to a PS3 Devkit

Kang81

I never knew Gears 3 was in development for the PS3. I dont recall when Xbox purchased the series, but I thought they always had it locked down with publishing rights alone.

Oh well, it likely would have been inferior like most 3rd party games on the PS3. The Cell really screwed that console over. I did love my PS3 and it's excellent exclusives though.

I often wondered if 3rd party publishers/developers just didn't want to put the time and money into making their games equal across the board or if the Cell was that notoriously difficult to develop games on.

Re: Soapbox: I Tried So Hard to Like Elden Ring, But I Just Couldnโ€™t Do It

Kang81

I have nearly zero interest in any Fromsoft games. I tried Bloodborne because the setting seemed interesting, but that lasted all of a couple hours.

I tried Elden Ring, and I fell off that even quicker than Bloodborne. I get why people like it, but I feel it's the new overrated "best game of all time!" Basically, it's the new BotW. ๐Ÿ™„

I will say, I gave Sekiro a try and I actually had a blast playing it, a huge shock to me as I dont like soulslike games, but there was just something about it that was much better than the rest.

Ultimately I gave up as well due to the difficulty. A games difficulty doesn't make it a better game, and I'm getting too old to put in the time to "Git Gud!" anyway. I no longer play games for a challenge, I play them for stress relief and just pure enjoyment.

Re: Could a New Game Involving Ecco the Dolphin Be Imminent?

@kyleforrester87

Awesome, I'll look into it. I'm not into going to crowded places just yet. I already had covid once. I was lucky and it wasn't bad. But missing out on 10 days of pay sucked because of company isolation policies. I really don't want that again.

Re: Could a New Game Involving Ecco the Dolphin Be Imminent?

Kang81

@twitchtvpat

Isn't ECCO on Nintendo Switch Online's overpriced expansion pass, with a rewind feature? I'm not paying Nintendo for the expansion pass, no value for me, but I'd love e to play ECCO with a rewind feature. Maybe then I could actually beat it. Haha

Re: Could a New Game Involving Ecco the Dolphin Be Imminent?

@kyleforrester87

Ah, a fellow The Midnight fan, I see your also a man of culture. ๐Ÿ˜

I discovered them because of Timecop 1983, who I discovered due to the game Crossing Souls. Great game, and great music.

Dance with the Dead is also amazing if your into a hard rock style of music mixed with synthwave.

Re: Sony Invites You to Find Your Zone on 28th June

Kang81

A Dualsense Pro controller with back buttons? Or at least another back button attachment? The PS4 back button attachment really spoiled me, I'd take back buttons over adaptive triggers.

I've rarely used the adaptive triggers feature since my right trigger spring broke on the first day I tried it out. I wasnt really fond of it to be honest. I've also been afraid to use it again because the Dualsense has already given me issues.

First the trigger spring broke, which Sony seems to have quietly fixed? Apparently new model controllers have a thicker trigger spring. Then my 2nd brand new controller had major stick drift out of the box. Seriously, why is stick drift even a problem? I've never experienced drift until the latest console generation.

Never had drift on anything prior to the Switch and PS5. Even my PS3 and 360 sticks work perfectly. ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ I've heard the Xbox Elite controllers have bad stick drift issues. I would be livid if that was the case due to their high price point.
