Hogwarts Legacy PS5 PlayStation 5 1

Coronavirus means students are currently taking Potions Classes from home, and you’re also going to have to wait to enrol on your adventure in Hogwarts Legacy. The game – expected to be released in 2021 – will now pack up its broomstick until 2022, with developer Avalanche needing additional time to realise its vision for the PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 open world game.

“Creating the best possible experience for all of the Wizarding World and gaming fans is paramount to us, so we’re giving the game the time it needs,” the studio said as part of a now-customary Twitter post on a yellowish background. “Hogwarts Legacy will now be released in 2022.” It went on to thank fans from around the world for its “tremendous reaction” to the announcement.

Obviously this is hugely disappointing news, but it’s an ambitious project and it deserves time to realise its full potential. Hopefully we at least get some updates on the game’s progress throughout 2021, as we’re still watching that inaugural trailer on repeat.
