Re: Cyberpunk 2077 Aiming to Be a 'Playable, Stable Game without Glitches and Crashes'

Genejoke

I've been playing on PS4 pro and had few issues. Especially since latest patch. Well one crash since that. I don't know if I've been lucky, I tend to be with games that are said to be buggy messes. I can't help feel that CDPR were in a damned if they do and damned if they don't situation. No doubt the pandemic has affected the later part of development and testing and they had already delayed and delayed. At the end of the day it's an excellent game, but feel for base PS4 players and hope they'll get it sorted asap.

Re: Next Mass Effect Game in Early Development

Genejoke

They say it's with a veteran team so maybe, just maybe they will come out with something good if EA don't insist it's online and filled with micro transactions. Still I won't get my hopes up until more is known.

Re: Poll: Has Xbox's Bethesda Buyout Made You Reconsider a PS5 Purchase?

Genejoke

Between that and buying obsidian and inexile it's made me think for sure. The question is can Xbox get back to the glory days of the 360? Red ring of death aside. Granted in most generations I've had both, up until Xbox one/PS4 when I could see little reason to get an Xbox one. Granted the controller is better than the dual shock but games wise Sony beat them hands down. There's not a single Xbox one exclusive I'm interested in. But the many of my favourite games are made by obsidian, Bethesda, arkane and ID. So maybe, or maybe I'll just get both again.

Re: 10 Big Upcoming PSVR Games

Genejoke

@Daleaf I was going to say the same. Skyrim was unplayable with move controllers. Well bit unplayable but as it was so clumsy they made the combat absurdly easy it was dull. Psvr needs a custom controller setup like Vive and occulus have.

Re: Poll: PlayStation Is 25 Years Old Today - What Is Your Favourite PlayStation Console?

Genejoke

Being an old skool gamer I've had every playstation system at some point. Even had a Japanese import of the PS1. That said I was mainly a sega player in the early 90s but the Saturn just didn't have the games so I went PS1 then Dreamcast then PS2 when it was clear the DC wasn't going to last. The PS2 was a great machine and had fantastic games but the Xbox pipped it for me. Better controller (in my opinion anyway) in built hard drive and some amazing games as well. Granted I had both so I didn't miss out on anything in that era but Xbox become my go to for the most part. That continued with the 360 which again had a far superior controller and generally better games. Again I did have a PS3 so I didn't miss out on the great exclusives but the multi format games were usually better on 360. Overall I'd say the PS3 was a bit of a mis step for Sony. It's funny, Microsoft started that gen on great form and screwed it up trying to get in on the Wii market. Sony made some mistakes early with the PS3 but pulled it together as Microsoft dropped the ball.
With current gen they've Sony got it spot on. The changes to dual shock controllers really impressed me as I didn't like the analogue sticks on older versions. They've got it so right I never even bothered with an Xbox one. so for me the PS4 is the best playstation so far.

Re: Cyberpunk 2077 Art Book Reveals Part of the Map

Genejoke

@Eldritch agreed, and Tbh the Witcher 3 never felt empty to me, the areas felt naturally quieter. Sort of the opposite of Bethesda games which feel too condensed. I have no doubt it's a tricky thing to balance, along with modes of transport and fast travel. Generally I prefer not to fast travel much in open world games but when playing the sinking city I was doing it as much as possible as that open world was void of content and offered nothing once you've been around it a little. At least with the Witcher 3 there was something here and there, even if it was wolves, drowners or ghouls attacking.
Similarly Rdr2 felt about right, I rarely wondered around in tedium.

Re: Sony: Our Exclusives Are Too Special and Valuable to Giveaway Day One with PS Now

Genejoke

I have a PS4 rather than an Xbox one because of the exclusives, although previously I've been an Xbox owner rather than playstation. Well I've had both but always preferred the Xbox controllers. For me it was midway through the 360 era Microsoft dropped the ball, they let go of exclusives and developers and focused too much on kinect hoping to beat Nintendo and the Wii. Yeah that went well.

Re: BioWare Asks What Mass Effect Fans Want on N7 Day, As if We Haven't Spent the Last 6 Years Begging for a Trilogy Remaster

Genejoke

@Agramonte Indeed, an Andromeda sequel could turn out to be a fantastic game if it ever happened. It could also be a train wreck. Bioware hasn't made a great game for a while, but it doesn't mean they can't. Just as Bethesda's Starfield could be amazing, it's just recent releases from those developers haven't instilled hope. It would be amazing to see them release something that lives up to their earlier games. As for what I want from a new mass effect game, same as most people, a great story, varied and interesting missions, memorable characters and a decent balance between action and RPG systems. Not much to ask is it? Uhhhh....

Re: Soapbox: Cyberpunk 2077 Could Become a Victim of Its Own Immense Hype

Genejoke

You're not wrong, fans and fan communities are often their own worst enemies. Personally I'm hyped for it, I've been playing the pen and paper RPG since the early 90s. I think the Witcher 3 is amazing even with the slightly clunky controls. I like the attitude towards DLC the creators have and it looks great, but I have some reservations. And it's those reservations that are keeping my expectations in check. For all the hype and the things said the game will feature, I'm expecting a bit of a Fable type effect and that it will fail to live up to every aspect of the hype, and that's fine because I'm keeping my expectations in check, even though I'll be getting day one. I suppose I have enough confidence in CDPR to at least deliver a solid game, even if it falls short. At the end of the day, hype is hype, some will be paid for and some will be from genuine interest and as long as you understand that and trust that reviews aren't bought, it's fine.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 295

Genejoke

@Areus that's on my list to get soon. I've finished Icewind dale a few times on the pc back in the day but never played torment. I also fancy a replay of Icewind dale. Out of interest what are the controls like on the console versions? I was pleasantly surprised at the controls on pillars of eternitys port.

Re: PS Plus July 2019 PS4 Games Announced

Genejoke

Colour me unimpressed. I'm not a fan of football any more than I am call of duty, but fair enough I won't like everything on ps plus. I do wish they would up it to 3 games again. One bargain basement indie added would make a difference.

Re: Fallout 76 Was Never Going to Get Rave Reviews Says Bethesda Boss, Prompting Another Backlash

Genejoke

@Robocod he did say that, but I can understand it. He's the mouth piece, the sales man. It's his job to sell the product. That doesn't make it alright but I understand it. I wonder though, was he responsible for the decision to launch it when it did? Could he have launched it as a beta? Maybe all that is above his paygrade. What if Todd is the poor guy who despite saying it's not ready for full release was told the game had to launch on the date and that he had to sell it. If that were the case I hope those who made the decision have seen the error of their ways. I hope Bethesda can make 76 a good game. I hope they pull out all the stops starfield and es6 are decent games. Sadly I fear that is too much to ask.

Re: The PS Vita Is Dead, Long Live Playdate

Genejoke

Hard pass.

Oh I have to write more? Seriously hard pass. It's a novelty toy that in twenty years retro gamers will be paying through the nose for... Maybe I should get one then 😂😂😂
