A brand new, rather brief trailer for Oddworld: Soulstorm just hit the 'net, and it's looking interesting. A current-gen remake of beloved PSone title Oddworld: Abe's Exoddus, this is first time that we've seen gameplay. Admittedly there's not much of it, but it's just enough to whet our appetite for the kind of strangeness that only the Oddworld series can provide.
It looks like some new ideas have been implemented, too. The trailer alludes to "looting, crafting, and battling" and we see Abe scavenge some bits and bobs towards the end of the teaser. Again, interesting.
Oddworld: Soulstorm is set for an early 2020 release, so we're sure that it won't be long before we get to see more.

There's nothing truly like the first game on PS1. The world is breathtaking and the dark tone is injecting a sense of both dread and wonder.
I'm so down for another Abe's game!?
Excellent! Been wondering where this was. I hope they move away from the remakes after this one though and maybe give us something new. Munch' Oddysee and Stranger's Wrath already have HD ports.
@Peach64 A new Oddysee featuring a new character would be great, or even a Munch's Exoddus.
Another remake ?? Come on !! Just give us a HD compilation of what has come so far in the series, then make a true new chapter in this beautifull saga !
Oh man finally!!... But still gotta wait a while. Oh well, I'm sure it'll be worth it. New n Tasty was so good.
I believe in other interviews the creator of the Abe series had said Exoddus wasn't originally a planned sequel. Then publisher GT Interactive asked/demanded a sequel for the subsequent Xmas (After Oddysee),& they effectively made it in 9 months.
Rather than being a straight remaster, they're basically putting a line thru Munch/Strangers continuity,& reworking this as a "true" sequel from Oddysee.
oh yes awesome i cant wait i love this series
That looks awesome. Prepping money to throw at the screen... #walletinacatapult
As others have said, this one isn't a retread even though it's kind of a remake of Abe's exoddus. Essentially it's the game they wanted to make back then plus more modern bells and whistles. I'm curious to see what comes of it. I mean new and tasty was good but managed to be lesser to the original. I hope this time they surpass the original.
