You may remember seeing Dark Alliance at The Game Awards 2019. Its announcement trailer ended up being the source of many a meme thanks to its extremely awkward direction and edgy tone (here's a link to refresh your memory).

Anyway, Dark Alliance is back with actual gameplay (though brief) and a release date. It's arriving on both PS5 and PS4 this summer, from the 22nd June. Those who buy the game on PS4 will be able to upgrade to the PS5 version for free.

For those totally out of the loop, this is a co-op action title, which sees you control one of four famous Dungeons & Dragons characters: Drizzt Do’Urden, Catti-brie, Bruenor, or Wulfgar. Naturally, each hero demands a different style of play.

It all sounds quite promising on paper: "Each playable character has more than 50 combat abilities to master, giving you a lot of tools at your disposal," reads the press release. Apparently, the game's perfectly playable solo — but it's obviously built with co-op in mind. The press release continues: "Exploration is encouraged. Sometimes you might find a secret room or a puzzle that grants you new loot. Replaying levels is encouraged too. Up a mission’s Challenge Rating and take on harder enemies to get better loot."
