@Nintyfan And it obviously takes a vastly superior intellect to be able to gauge people's educational ability by their view of expressing a shape's name. Or perhaps not since to a lot of well educated people that shape is correctly termed a saltire, or a diagonal cross, but not just cross. The shape is also still called X, not cross, when used as a way to affirm something, ie. marking a ballot paper or, perhaps, to some people, affirming you want to bypass the start screen of a game. It's not dumb, it's a point of view. Thinking you're superior to other people based on their pronunciation of X, well now, that's really dumb.
I think the problem here is the lighting may be improving but people are too busy looking at the awkward animations. The hand movements looked weird, the mouth and eyes were really odd. Those are thing that'll stand out to us straight away rather than thinking ooh that's nice moody lighting. I'm sure shown with and then without the effects I'd be impressed but without a reference point it doesn't wow me. Which then begs the question what's the point?
@SwanPrincess83 As you so aptly put it PT was not a released game, it was a demo. No one had paid for it, no one is entitled to it, as gutting as that is. So that doesn't work as an example. That's like saying you can easily buy an old car but you're annoyed because you can't buy a prototype. I'm into retro computer oddities. A while back I tried to find a screen saver I loved. Could I find the disk version, no, but I could get a digital copy. It's swings and roundabouts. Both physical and digital have the possibility of being pulled. The only way you're safe is if you purchased it beforehand because physical disks can become like gold dust. As for HDDs breaking, I've had well over a hundred in my time and only had two fail. But the sensible thing is to not have only one backup. That and to only buy Toshiba hard drives.
@SwanPrincess83 It doesn't and they won't. Because any digital game I bought is stored on my personal harddrive that Sony has no access to. But whether I bought digital, or you bought physical, both of us lose the MP if they take it offline so how does owning physical make you better off? Same principle, I have a backup harddrive with my games on. So how are my games any more at risk than your physical copy? Simple answer... they aren't. Of course you can't back up your physical disk in case it gets scratched.
@SwanPrincess83 That makes no sense whatsoever. What difference does owning a physical vs digital copy make to online MP servers? Are you somehow magically still able to play on a closed down server if you bought a physical copy?
Can't understand why as consoles have got more powerful, and TVs have got much bigger, that couch co-op has taken such a dive. It's a struggle to find much to play. I'll probably give it a go for that reason alone.
@makoshichi if you'd read the comments you'd have found, 34 minutes before you posted, that Kienda was big on The Lion King. Shortly followed by NoxAeturnus. He seemed pretty keen, even if his wife didn't. Could have saved yourself a bit of typing.
@GodGamer I never said he shouldn't want to see game play. I was saying there's a reason these companies edit what we see. As you use the car analogy you wouldn't expect to test drive a car that had features on that will never exist. The reason being you're likely to complain that what you saw doesn't exist on the product you bought.
How can they be honest about it? Things can change all the time. What might have been a dead cert then may not be possible later. And despite whatever warnings they put gamers make these things personal. Gamers, on the whole, are a toxic and not a very forgiving bunch. Look at the whole puddlegate fiasco. The company increases graphic performance but due to different lighting within the individual games people start crying about it's not as good as the demo they saw. I don't blame companies for not wanting to show lots because whatever happens they're going to annoy some section of gamers. And as for table scraps, you're getting the whole game later. Patience is a virtue as they say.
@RBMango Why? So you can have the game spoiled? The people who go to see these things don't usually get to play a game properly, they have to rush through it for reviews etc. So some spoilers for them don't matter. Also things change. They edit stuff out that will no longer be appearing, or has changed graphically, because they know full well people like you will be writing in forums "I'm irritated with CDPR. I can't believe they removed that from the game. It was only that but that made it worth buying. They lied to us!" etc, etc, etc...
@glassmusic Sony would be stupid to bother trying to do 8k. It'll be such a niche market. Since you can't currently buy a decent 8k TV for under £3000, and that price won't drop much for many many years. Add to that that 8k is not a graphical improvement for normal sized Tvs, its use is for oversized TVs ie. 80 inch TVs. Also there's really no 8k content anywhere to watch on them anyway so it really is a complete waste of Sony's time and adding unnecessary expense to 99% of PlayStation customers. It's not something aimed at the average user except for those dumb enough to think that 8k will mean a better picture on their 60 inch or smaller TV.
I'm thinking they're going to take a loss but that the system is still going to cost around £750. And why not, people are willing to pay stupid money for phones. I know which I'd rather put more money into and it's the PS5.
Looks great to me. Like the art style, like the premise it's based on. Just hoping that as a co-op game there's a couch co-op option. Too many games missing that feature these days.
Someone bought me silicone covers for my controllers ages ago and they're excellent so coloured controllers are pointless for me. But they do look nice... except for the camo.
I hate to say it but I'm out due to the accent. I don't know what it is about that accent but it makes my skin crawl. Not that I'd have bought it day 1 anyway. NFS' are usually bargain basement buys for me. I was rather hoping, with the logo styling, it would have been set in the 70s or 80s. That would have been fun. Ah well.
@Horizon_Rover I really need to get back on RDR Online. Things happened that stopped me playing much for a while. But I was certainly enjoying it. Even if all I was doing was hunting and fishing. lol
@rockertherockgod It's because R* have always stated that GTA online is a separate entity to the single player game. It's all the people buying the shark cards who pay for all the online DLC. And there has been an awful lot of DLC. And it's not that hard to make money on there. I've never bought a shark card and I've earned well over 600 million in there. Also there's no pay to win. You can't go in at level 1 and have the best car. You still have to earn all the upgrades. All different to EA etc. As for R* owing you. I think Dee would be appalled to hear that. No one owes you anything. You got what you paid for, an amazing game with hell of a lot to do. I bought it twice as well and consider it value for money.
@joey302 why is it going to sting? It's not like you won't still be able to download them, as the article stated. And it's not like you can't back up digital downloads. How's that any more risky than accidentally scratching a disc or your disc oxidising with age? Physical discs do have a limited lifespan.
With all the negativity towards this guy I'm beginning to feel a little bad for smashing my PS4 Pro in protest at last month's free game Horizon Chase Turbo. But Outrun was a classic. Perhaps I should have thought things through though and done it at a convention instead of just in my living room.
I'm with the less-stars-the-better-brigade. I don't want them ruining the immersion. As for the soundtrack, I always turn off in game music anyway. For me that also ruins the immersion.
I still preorder. I just do it one day before the game is available for download off PSN. Stopped ordering way in advance when PlayStation decided they'd let your money sit in their account earning them interest instead of taking it the day prior to being available for download.
@TuckNorris85 @carlos82 In that case I stand corrected. Which I don't mind at all because it felt so totally wrong, and made me feel rather dirty, supporting EA.
@carlos82 or absolutely amazing value for money if you're a Sims fan. £20 a year to play a game that must cost £300 to £400 if you were to buy it and all the DLCs. Astounding value for money at that price.
Despite TD1 being in my 3 most played games on PS4, with 300+ hours, I'm of the same opinion as @Bagshot. It should have been an extension to the original game. Games as a service with a limited shelf life seem defeatest to me. Putting in all that effort and then losing it when the next comes out a couple of years later. In GTA I still have everything I've gained since day 1 and can continue to use it. So basically no TD2, 3, 4 etc for me.
@MattyHammo totally agree. Fallout 4 is a good example. Average graphics but amazing gameplay. I'm hoping Cyberpunk will draw me in in the same way and still have me playing several years later.
I'm guessing playstation1995 thinks GoT looks better than Cyberpunk. (I had to block him a long time back for finishing off every comment with... no, I can't even bring myself to say it...) Either way GoT is a beautiful looking game but it has a certain stylism about it. A bit like The Witcher did. But I certainly wouldn't say it's graphically superior to Cyberpunk. Both look stunning and both are pretty much all I'm waiting for... besides TLOU2.
Tat indeed. I've only seen the trailer but I'm still trying to work out why the game is about a bunch of Australians in London? There I was getting excited for playing a fellow country person and instead some bloomin' Aussie comes on doing the voice over. It's like Dick Van Duke all over again.
