Re: PS Plus Extra, Premium Now Live in Europe, Australia, and New Zealand

Eldritch

@MrElfenSafety If it's anything like what I just had it doesn't crash, as such, it was just showing a blank PS+ screen. I held down the PS button to go to home, everything else was fine, so could still look at the collection via the store. But the PS+ screen did stay frozen for quite some time. Before finally showing what it's meant to.

Re: PS Plus Extra, Premium Now Live in Europe, Australia and New Zealand

@get2sammyb Seems a bit naughty they're showing stuff in the catalog that isn't actually available, unless you want to pay for it. I've just signed up for the Extra, went to download Project Cars 3 but no. Number 2 is also showing but you'd have to pay for that too. Bit of research and people were complaining about this on 6th of June. Not sure if there are similarly affected titles. Don't suppose you have any idea?

Re: Sony Invites You to Find Your Zone on 28th June

Eldritch

@Grimwood I know a couple of people who thought the same as you and sent theirs back. So with that in mind, that and I think the Pulse look awful anyway, I'm hoping these headsets have good integration with the PS5. Otherwise I guess I'll have to go with the Steelseries 7P+ and get used to the lack of integrated game/chat volume adjustment.

Re: Sony Invites You to Find Your Zone on 28th June

Eldritch

@TheCollector316 They aren't using PlayStation branding because it's for the PC market not the PlayStation market. It's just that certain items will also be 'perfect' for the PS5.
I imagine they're trying to find a bigger piece of the PC action now that their games are being released to that market.

Re: PS5 Slim That's Just 2CM in Height Built by YouTuber

Eldritch

@theMEGAniggle You're putting words in my mouth. I never mentioned whether I liked or disliked it. I merely said I wasn't impressed. Hardly makes me a "hater". Seems people are not only easily impressed but also quick to cast aspersions on other people's character.

Re: PS5 Slim That's Just 2CM in Height Built by YouTuber

Eldritch

Guess I'm in the minority. Can't say I'm impressed. It's like creating the most compact electric car that then has to drag around a massive caravan that houses the battery etc. How's that clever or impressive? Seems people are so easily impressed these days. But maybe that's a good thing, considering the current climate.

Re: Rumour: Sony to Announce a Premium Pro Controller for PS5

Eldritch

@Sir_funkington Never had drifting sticks but certainly know the pain of the dodgy R2 on the PS4 controllers. I went through 4 controllers. I play a lot of racing games and so it's a big issue. First time I realised how bad they were was on Tearaway Unfolded. I got to a part and got stuck. Seemed impossible till I looked up a video and saw a bridge, I was controlling with my R2 trigger, was only extending half the distance it was meant to be. Making crossing the gap impossible... but also explaining why I'd been doing so bad in racing games. 😂

Re: Reminder: PS Plus Extra, Premium Launches in North America Tomorrow

Eldritch

My PS+ runs out today. I'm in the UK and I'm not renewing till I can see what's available in the tiers and am actually able to pay for it in one go. I'm not paying a bit now then upgrading at a later date. So looks like I'll have a couple of weeks to catch up on offline only games. Sony not doing a great job for kick starting this new 'service'.

Re: PS Plus' PS1 Games Use Superior NTSC 60Hz Format in Japan

Eldritch

@__jamiie It's not laziness It's due to the regions games were originally released.
And also it "is" "frames" people are talking about. The issue is Pal frame rates not playing nicely with modern TV refresh rates. NTSC's approx 30fps works well with 60hz whereas Pal 25fps doesn't. 25 into 60 ain't happening. Not smoothly anyway.

Re: Horror Game The Callisto Protocol Returns with News This Week

Eldritch

@Nepp67 I'm not saying you're wrong. In fact I hope you're correct. One of the other commenters said similar, adding "you may as well say it's set on this universe". Well why didn't they? There has to be a reason they've chosen not to set it in our universe. And that's what worries me. If they want to include historical canon into the game. Or worse, use it as a way to lay the story for a more futuristic PUBG.
Either way I'm rooting for your optimism and not my cynicism.

Re: Sony Is Predicting Improved PS5 Stock Availability

Eldritch

Managed to get one from Game a couple of days ago. Paid for the more secure insured delivery. I was then made aware I'd received it via a congratulatory email from Game. Found it outside. 😖Courier hadn't even bothered ringing the doorbell. That extra money for delivery was well worth it... 😕 guess at least they didn't steal it.

Re: Sonic Origins Spins to PS5, PS4 in June with Multiple Pricey Editions

Eldritch

@themcnoisy I guess we're never going to agree since I don't think the games are expensive. Especially when you consider value for money. When a collection of games or game, that'll give me many many hours of enjoyment, costs far less than one evening down the local pub I'm hard pressed to see why people are bemoaning today's pricing. I probably look at past pricing because to me the price of games, in my opinion, has stayed roughly constant or dropped. Unlike other vices in life that have absolutely sky rocketed in price and are outrageously priced these days. So I can't help but think people are spoilt when they begrudge paying for something that'll give them enjoyment for many hours, weeks, possibly even months. There's not many of life's pleasures that come so cheaply as games.
As for the price of PCs I remember paying £13,000 for an Apple Mac back in the '90s. 🤣

Re: Sonic Origins Spins to PS5, PS4 in June with Multiple Pricey Editions

Eldritch

@themcnoisy And? I'm not exactly sure where you were going with that, you seemed to falter then stop abruptly without having made a point. So Lemmings sold 70,000 copies but it was made by a company of 4 people not the vast Rockstar* that company has become today. But, all that aside, I was taking my pricing from consoles of around '92. So take the 2nd Sonic game, since the 1st was quite often bundled... Sonic 2 sold over 7.5 million copies. Hardly niche like you're trying to suggest. That and the Gremlins 2 game were selling at £49.95. That's well over £100 at today's exchange rate... whilst not being so "niche". So I'm afraid I think that old argument you're trying to dismiss is still valid.

Re: Sonic Origins Spins to PS5, PS4 in June with Multiple Pricey Editions

Eldritch

Strange how people view pricing these days. Basically they're releasing the set of games for the same price as the original cartridge would have cost. Or, put another way, using inflation, this set works out at £48 cheaper than the original cartridge. As that would have been roughly £88 today. Gasp and scream at the outrageous pricing of those £70 PS5 titles. 🤣

Re: PS5, PS4 Exclusives May Get Worse if Free with PS Plus Day One

Eldritch

I'm happy with this. I'm not a fan of subscription services anyway. I don't have any TV/movie or music subscriptions, PS+ is my only subscription service.
Also I don't think the games are expensive. £70 is a night on the town these days. Compare that with weeks to months of enjoyment gaming, 'nuff said.
The majority of people, these days, seem happy to pay out money to avoid actually owning anything. Call me stupid but I'll stick to paying for what I actually want.
