It's not quite an entire series reboot, but Need for Speed Heat is now officially a thing. EA just got done debuting the announcement trailer, which you can check out for yourself above.
It's coming to PS4 on 8th November worldwide, and the footage shown looks like a return to form. The cops can play dirty this time at night, but you'll have legitimate races to participate in while the sun is still up. Raw gameplay will be debuted at Gamescom Opening Night Live next week, so make sure you check back with us for that.
Hustle by day and risk it all at night in Need for Speed™ Heat, a white-knuckle street racer, where the lines of the law fade as the sun starts to set. By day, Palm City hosts the Speedhunter Showdown, a sanctioned competition where you earn Bank to customize and upgrade your high-performance cars. At night, ramp up the intensity in illicit street races that build your reputation, getting you access to bigger races and better parts. But stay ready – cops are waiting and not all of them play fair.
The game will be available as both a standard edition and a deluxe version that comes with some REP and Bank boosts, four exclusive character outfits, and a K.S. edition starter car. Both versions are available for pre-order on the PlayStation Store right now, with the deluxe option coming in at £69.99. A US price isn't listed just yet, but EA Access members will get a small discount.
Will you return to the streets in Need for Speed Heat? Stick to the speed limit in the comments below.

Looks great!! Day one for me as well! May as well sub to EA Access for a month to get the discount, didnt know about that!
Day one here too, can't wait!
Great idea on discount through EA Access too.
@airrik
I know which one I'll be driving first
I'm IN!! Been waitin' for this one!!
Preorder bankboost yeah ill go with Death Stranding.
@ankehuber Ill be travelling on foot. 😆
The "acting" is a huge turn off for me. I can also see the daytime stuff being mundane.
Sorry, but I'm out.
I SAID RIGHT NOW
haha people getting too excited FYI game has booster packs if its not card s*** like payback its something else check deluxe ed rep and bank boost 5% increase.
Is this a "live service" game then?
The concept is pretty good. It looks very good. And I really want another NFS to be very good.
But... will it be good? I will wait.
amazing!... always up for a new NFS.
Looks less interesting than Payback in my opinion. Reminds more of the previous NFS with the FMV.
I don’t know why people didn’t like Payback. The racing, police pursuit, Off-Road, and drag racing were all good and were blended in well with a good story and interesting characters. This new one looks too bland like the NFS before, which was always dark as well.
I just can't get how NFS went from a nice arcade racer to all these weird incarnations... I loved NFS1 with it's point to point racing, with incoming traffic, why we can't get some kind of NFS1 reboot ? Or a StreetRod reboot ? ; )
I'm a bit burnt on the franchise. Still have 2 or 3 games I bought and need to play properly. Though one thing that would get me to buy the game is if it added full PSVR support. Evading cops in VR would be epic!
Daytime looks a bit boring, but the voiceover and “story” sounded so lame. It could still be a good game, but I’m not sold at all. It just sounded so tryhard. The lack of ability to play as the cops doesn’t sound good either. We’ll see what happens though.
This looks too annoyingly modern-day hip for my old arse. I bet its full of awful mumble rap.
Well EA are already telling us to spend more money to play its game less with the deluxe edition so I can't wait to see what surprise mechanics this game will have. Not likely to be a game that I'll be buying
I think I'll just play the super fun race varieties available in GTAO instead.
I can't get over the "I SAID RIGHT NOW!" as @Quintumply pointed out.
I may need convincing still. The thing I hated in payback was the upgrade system and the story totally sucked. I did like the handling model, very easy to initiate drifting. Also I thought payback tried too hard to be like Forza Horizon series.
Hoping for a 10hour trial on ea access usually what they do with their games. Here's hoping.
I hate to say it but I'm out due to the accent. I don't know what it is about that accent but it makes my skin crawl. Not that I'd have bought it day 1 anyway. NFS' are usually bargain basement buys for me. I was rather hoping, with the logo styling, it would have been set in the 70s or 80s. That would have been fun. Ah well.
@Quintumply That really made me laugh, so silly.
I do like arcade racers, though I've not really liked a Need for Speed in a long while. I'll probably try the game out if get a chance, as long as it's not always online.
No Cop campaign ????????????????????
I'm out!
What a waste.
@Wesker currently playing Payback. It's pretty decent, I dont understand the hate for the speed cards. You get one after every race, can trade in for them, etc. With individual parts wouldn't that be more expensive? This doesn't look as good Payback so far.
The trailer looks good, though perhaps they're trying to be too edgy. The 5% Rep and Bank boosts in the deluxe edition has me spooked though, I'm worried it's going to be a tedious grind to get them without microtransactions.
Please don't be open world, Please don't be open world, Please don't be open world,
Please don't be open world, Please don't be open world, Please don't be open world,
Please don't be open world, Please don't be open world....
@Chris0160 I never had a problem with the speed cards either. And you can download and customize skins to your heart’s content. People go absolutely mental about any in game currency that you can pay for with real money, but there is absolutely no need to pay. The game is easy!!!
Will definitely wait to see more of this before making up my mind.
So far it feels like they’ve spent more time trying to make this “cool” than anything else, which has made it seem very uncool to me...
Best NFS is Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit 2 end of! Hammering a vauxhall vx220 in the game was a total blast and the police chases were insane with helicopters, stingers and missiles!
Aaaand it's out the same day as Death Stranding so I'll pick it up later on at a discount.
@K-Wud played the absolute crap out of this game on PS2 with my brother. Splitscreening with the BMW M5 on the Alpine trail point to point track.. thank you for mentioning this legend.
@K-Wud Nah bro the Ferrari 360 spider is where it's at! NFS was at it's best when they released this bad boy!
I wonder this time if it will be online only or not, we won't know till closer to release date so I will keep my eye out.
@Dubya75 and the bigger question is it online only.
Feels like NFS shift during the day and NFS underground during the night. Will probably buy this on...just not day one. Haven't bought a nfs in so long I'm starting to get the need
When do you sleep, exactly?
@K-Wud Hot Pursuit 2 is definitely up there. A buddy of mine was staying with us the summer after it came out and we played that game religiously!! Great memories with that one!
Looks like a bit of pro street with a bit of underground & most wanted I just hope it's not online only cause then you'd have to have an internet connection & ps plus even if you just wanted to play alone
Well, where I start, well, I just can't say much with this trailer, but I hope it maintains good races and car/police chases as NFS has shown for years and that it has options for offline and online games, that is, that not everything is focused on just complete the story mode and then just play games online, that's what has tired this franchise, all online and nothing offline.
Also, that not only focus on car customization, I repeat, and I do not say it for disturbing you, I love the idea of customizing the car, but that is not the focus, the main thing of these games, NFS is a "Racing game, that's the main thing"; I would also say about the soundtrack, but well, if EA has not used his own music for years and only uses licensed music, here I don't have much hope...
Well, I still do not see something from the gameplay, but I repeat, I hope this NFS is, at least, as was Most Wanted (and since it includes Pro Street style)

The microtaxation was removed some way down the line after a mass outcry. You both are probably playing the updated version without the nonsense at release.

Thanks for understanding
@themcnoisy yeah maybe. There was no ‘grind’ or ‘brickwall’ when I played it about a year ago. Sammy could also just be rubbish, but I doubt it
If there is any kind of progression-slowing in order to encourage microtransaction purchases, it will be a pass. I never trust EA, but this does look fun. I’ve been getting more into the racing genre as of late.
I yawned so hard I nearly broke my jaw.
I'll stick with DriveClub and Project Cars 2, thanks.
@deepspace5d it's EA after all, they cannot be trusted to deliver anything.
No interest at all. I'm pretty sure it's all "dark and gritty", laden with microtransactions, and the main characters are some over-the-top-minorities. N'ah.
@deepspace5d You should try out the latest Forza Horizon then if you have the chance. For purists it's always gonna be Gran Turismo and if you love a plethora of choices and settings you should Project Cars II a go! Have fun!
Aren't these games essentially all the same?
That voiceover script was cheesier than that fondue I had last night.
