Re: Random: The Last of Us Made a Surprise Appearance on Quiz Show Jeopardy

Eldritch

@GamingFan4Lyf Sadly history has proven time and time again that's what people are like. So the violence is probably more apt in TLOU than most other games. Let's face it, you only need to look at the first few weeks of this virus, when people weren't really sure of facts... selfish stockpiling, violence over toilet paper... that one just beggars belief, countries stealing health supplies from other countries. So here we are, in a situation nowhere near as bad as TLOU, and people still reacted disgustingly until they realised the apocalypse wasn't quite coming. As for turf wars. That's also happening right now. Violence towards people suspected of not coming from an area. Some poor nurse, living in a camper van to be near her hospital is fearing for her life incase someone sets her camper on fire after receiving threats. So perhaps you might want to look at the violence in TLOU from a different perspective.

Re: Rumour: PS5 Will Have Shorter Supply Than PS4 at Launch, Delay Unlikely with High Price

Eldritch

A phone may be a necessity but an expensive phone isn't and people still bought the expensive ones in the millions. Obviously the iPhone's sales figures are nowhere near the PlayStation 4's, but then a lot of these people buy a new one every year, that's one hell of an expenditure, so again people are willing to spend huge amounts on non essential entertainment items. The other thing is, with consoles in the past, they've always been behind the times. By the time they are released the tech has been old. That's not the case this time. So I think that'll impact price and potential buyers too. Either way, whatever the price, just be grateful you're not in the UK. We always get stiffed. If it's $500 dollars we'll pay £500 even if the exchange rate means we should only be paying just over £400.

Re: PS4 Firmware Update 7.50 Is Available to Download Now

Eldritch

@ankehuber No worries. And if you have a router like mine where you can't add static IP addresses then just doing it on the PS4 works. Apparently it's not quite as reliable but I've only had the issue happen once in the last month. So can't really complain. Just wish Sony would sort it out.

Re: PS4 Firmware Update 7.50 Is Available to Download Now

Eldritch

@ankehuber I've had that for a while now on both a 1st gen and Pro. Even prior to the last update. I thought it was an issue with my router at first as the internet itself wasn't dropping out. My IP even sent me a new router and the problem persisted. One thing I tried that reduced it happening (now it only happens once in a blue moon) was to setup the PS4s with a static IP. Might be worth a try if you don't have that already.

Re: The Last of Us 2 Taken Off PlayStation Store Following Indefinite Delay

Eldritch

@Matroska oh come on. You must be [removed] if you can't see why it's being delayed. There's no conspiracy theory except in your mind. This is the big one for Sony and many countries are on shut down. People are not allowed to go out to buy games, stores are not allowed to open to sell games. That's a huge section of the market. Not everyone buys digital or from Amazon. Japan is about to declare a state of emergency lasting 6 months if needed, other countries will follow or are already there. Why would Sony want a small fanfare and possible backlash when they can wait for things to settle and go for the big bang. You and others have been bashing Sony for every decision they've made throughout this virus outbreak and in the end there's only one side that's continually looking stupid and it's not Sony. Anyway, I won't keep you any longer as I imagine you're off out to burn down some 5G masts, as I'm sure you're the type to believe the kind of guff that's doing the rounds about them as well.

Re: Poll: Should Sony Giveaway Free PS4 Games for Those in Isolation?

Eldritch

As someone who's having to isolate no I don't feel Sony should be giving away games. I'm with @BAMozzy and would rather see Sony giving money to aid finding a cure. Far more useful. I sincerely doubt there are many gamers who don't have unplayed games to play. Not all of us are that low that we're willing to take advantage of a bad situation and be freeloaders like @Powerpellet.

Re: Soapbox: All I Want the PS5 to Do Is Track My Play Time Across Games

Eldritch

Sounds like sad persons Top Trumps to me. "I played the game for 360 hours..." "Well I played it for 845 hours". Alright, I may be putting in some shocking amount of hours into some games but I don't necessarily want that information available. I'd rather keep the fact I have no life, outside of the PlayStation anymore, to myself... thank you very much.

Re: PS5's Backwards Compatibility with PS4 Has Fans Baffled

Eldritch

@oldschool1987 The PS5 is backwards compatible with PS4 games. When Cerny was talking about the top 100 games he was talking about PS4 games that would be able to take advantage of the PS5's boost mode. He didn't mean only a few of the top 100 games would play at all.

Re: Guide: PS5 vs Xbox Series X - Tech Specs Comparison

Eldritch

@ellsworth004 Basically our ears are like fingerprints, all different. Therefore the way we hear things is also unique. ie. Putting a small piece of clay in the folds of our outer ear can completely throw off our ability to sense which direction a sound is coming from. (Don't go getting clay stuck in your ear.) A couple of companies are doing what Sony are suggesting but the price for their equipment is through the roof. As a simple example they could theoretically make your cheaper system sound like a several thousand pound system by tricking your ears. (That's what the other companies are doing) Sony though are going to be using it to give you more spacial awareness of your game surroundings and so make the games more immersive.

Re: Zombie Army 4: Dead War Discounted to Just £25.99 A Month After Release

Eldritch

I paid full price on the day of release and I've certainly got no qualms about that. I think I owe them something after getting Sniper Elite 4 free, Sniper Elite 3 and ZA Trilogy for £8 in the recent sales. All been really fun games and the starting price was reasonable anyway. So if I think of it as £48 for all four games it's still cheaper than most day 1 releases these days.

Re: PlayStation Cancels Huge PAX East Showing Due to Coronavirus Concerns

Eldritch

@Gamer83 There are other events that Sony has pulled from, that have nothing to do with PlayStation, along with many other companies. In some cases the events were eventually cancelled. These events draw big crowds from all around the world. Not just Americans attend and it only takes one infected person. Just look at the cruise ships where one infected person got on and infected huge amounts of people. Since China is still not being entirely truthful with statistics it's understandable companies don't want to endanger their employees. Especially if said employees could then turn around and sue them for putting them at risk. Because one thing's for sure, America may not be a hotbed for the virus but it sure is for litigation.

Re: PlayStation Cancels Huge PAX East Showing Due to Coronavirus Concerns

Eldritch

@Gamer83 I'm not quite sure you're grasping the concept there. Sony weren't thinking of their staff taking the virus to the event. 🤣 They're worried that someone infected will visit the event and pass it on to their staff. Those Californian execs aren't immune if someone who's infected decides sneeze their way around the event.

Re: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare's Latest PS4 Patch Is a Ludicrous 51GB in Size

Eldritch

@Knuckles-Fajita Some of that missing 500GB will be a safety buffer. These disks need space to move data around in order for them to work properly. The downside is SSDs works in a similar fashion but also reduce in speed the fuller they get.
Perhaps Sony have found a way around this if it's their own build but if not those SSDs could be even more restrictive than we're thinking.

Re: Sony Shuts Manchester Studio Before It Ships a Game

Eldritch

@Panic_Attache @AdamNovice VGTR is a UK created tax policy and has absolutely nothing to do with the EU. So Brexit will in no way affect it. The only reason the EU were involved was they started an investigation to see if the UK was guilty of trying to create an unfair tax haven for gaming companies.

Re: Days Gone Patch 1.61 Reduces the Game's File Size

Eldritch

@banacheck I'm not saying you're wrong but... if you're correct about removing double data to reduce file size then surely by removing this 'double data' the game is now going to run slower? Since we haven't moved to these new SSDs yet and the double data was being used to speed up the game?
