Like many others on here I'm astounded this wasn't done to begin with and wreaks either of bull*, or complete negligence and stupidity. Neither bares well and CDPR joined the list of gaming companies I'll never pre-order titles from.
@Would_you_kindly "I'd have expected for a game that's skipping last gen to be more about photo realism" 🤣 That's like saying, With the advent of Blu-ray I expected all cartoons to become live action films.
I've recently started playing a few of the Warhammer games. I used to play them many moons ago. Bad voice acting aside they're pretty enjoyable. They're certainly never going to win awards but they're fun. Currently playing Chaosbane but had Inquisitor tagged to play next.
I played Heat recently, having originally avoiding it due to disliking the way NFS has gone. Seemed I was right to do so and ended up giving it a solid 2 out of 10, on my game collection on here. This is sounding like it's going beat that... and not in a good way.
@Cyrus29 It's certainly not horrible janky controls like RE but neither is it an action game like Uncharted. As for Ammo, that'll depend on difficulty level and how much you rely on the characters other abilities. I'm not a fan of REs but loved the Dead Space series. It's certainly worth a shot.
@Wolfie_Pie There we go. I think there's a few companies that do them. So I'm sure you'd be able to find something that'll suit your needs. They're bound to make ones for people with very large ears which would then give you that space you're looking for. Good luck.
@Wolfie_Pie Just a thought... If you're having issues finding the right headphones you could get a set that has replaceable pads and then buy 3rd party ones that are deeper and more spacious. Might sort your issue.
@Titntin 🤣 Ok, well I'm certainly no Columbo. My deduction, of your age, based on you saying you started gaming late 70s, a hazy memory of when I actually started... I now realise it was probably also late 70s, I think '76, one year prior to the Atari, on a friend's Magnavox. That, combined with being used to being the oldest gamer in the village, all led me to the wrong conclusion. So I'm afraid you can have back your crown. But I'm not far behind you. I was born 1970.
@Titntin I suspect I'm a little older than you but thankfully my reaction times are still with me, for the time being, though I guess it'll catch up to me soon enough. lol But I'm still taking the same viewpoint as you just from a different angle. I've recently dialed down the difficulty levels on certain games because I've given up trophy hunting. The main reason being is the amount of trophies that include grinding, to get better, or worse still trophies that require you just putting your controller aside and doing nothing (looking at you Stray!) In this time of rising electric bills and with some people who can barely afford to pay those bills, forcing the less able to also monetarily suffer seems a tad harsh to me.
@RaZieLDaNtE Agreed. I aired my opinion 2 was the better game when it released but emotions were too heated back then. But more than anything you said I totally agree that we need more Jak and Daxter in our lives. I really can't understand how they're letting such an amazing IP be little more than Easter egg finds in their other games. An absolute tragedy.
It's quite simple. Social media is full of idiots. There's no need for companies to interact with these people. It's not cool, it's not constructive, if anything it's demoralising. So let's get back to where companies just made games and we bought and enjoyed them. There's absolutely no need for us to "converse". These companies need to stop using social media.
I think all the Borderlands games are pretty lacklustre. I only ever really enjoyed playing them with friends. Not played Wonderlands but can understand this. Through the drunken beery haze of co-op Tiny Tina did stand out from the other NPCs. And I'm sure she appeals to a certain kind of audience.
@Ravix I pretty much agree with everything you say. Perhaps we're lucky to afford the digital games we want on release. But, for me, I think what it really boils down to is, 9 time out of 10, those games I do pre-order are worth every penny. I honestly don't feel £70 is expensive for the amount of hours I put into those games and so I'm happy to pay it. And that bit extra for the convenience, and peace of mind, with digital.
@BartoxAbrasiveness I'm like you in regard to soundtracks and their impact on games. Though feel our likes differ greatly. 🤣 But you saying a bad soundtrack could sour a game for you. Same. I was really looking forward to playing Death Stranding. 15 minutes in I hated the soundtrack. Found I couldn't turn it off so have deleted the game rather than endure the soundtrack. As you say, to some of us, the sound is more important than the visuals.
@Titntin I'm like you but disagree on one part. You say about digital being expensive but that's only if you have no patience. I've been digital only since the PS3. Still have it with hundreds of games on it, same with PS4. But you never see physical, even second hand, dropping to the really low prices you get on digital sales. So for me, it's only once in a blue moon I'll find the need to pre-order or buy day 1. And hence I don't find the small increase in price enough to complain about. Especially knowing a backup copy is always there to redownload should anything untoward happen. Physical buyers certainly can't say that if they accidentally scratch or crack a disc.
@PenguinLtd I disliked the song. I really disliked not having the choice of whether I want to listen to it or not. And, knowing it's a loooong game, I've taken the decision I'd rather miss out on the experience than be forced to listen to more songs like it. I've already deleted it and am now deciding what to play next.
Just finished Guardians of the Galaxy. Thought it was amazing. Just started Death Stranding. Had high hopes but 15 minutes in and already thinking about quitting. Unable to turn off the music. Absolutely ridiculous.
@PegasusActual93 Hold on, are we both talking about the same Bushido Blade? The 1997 one with good old Japanese broadswords and the stereotypical Japanese feudal helicopter landing pad? Because if we are I revert to my original statement. I'm not saying they're bad games. Just they're not what I'm looking for. Take cowboy games as an example. I'm looking for Red Dead Redemption not RDR Undead nightmare. There's a distinct lack of Samurai games like GoT and, for me, if the influx of "influenced" games is going to be more akin to the ones you've mentioned, you'll be happy, I won't be bothering.
@PegasusActual93 No, they are all exactly what I described. Over the top and Anime "style". I didn't say they were Anime but they take the fantasy, over the top, theme. Not what I want at all.
I really loved GoT and Way of the Samurai. But, other than those two, the only Samurai games I can think of were over the top anime type rubbish, which I think killed off any real interest in the genre. So if it's more of that incoming god forbid.
@BusyOlf That's not the incident I was talking about. I think that was late '80s. My fault though for getting my dates incorrect. (Edit: Apparently it started in '98) It was 2001, not the 90s, and it was the US vs Microsoft, though Apple was involved. It was that case that really kickstarted Apple's journey from a designer's dream to a phone orientated cult for sheep.
Hence my thinking perhaps COD going to Microsoft would be for the best. The competition could make Sony double down at what they're good at.
I have zero interest in COD but it's certainly something Sony will want to hold onto. Look at the past situation with Apple. If Microsoft hadn't been brought into line, back then, Apple would still just be making streamlined, top tier, design/media orientated, machines instead of the style over substance stuff, aimed at sheep, they produce today... hold on, what am I saying... let Microsoft have it.
Here's hoping it's Catalina. She's already been Bonnie and Clydesque with a couple of GTA's protagonists. And she's right up there with Trevor in the psychotic stakes. She certainly deserves a leading role.
@dskatter I'm not talking about initial game load times. @dskatter You're talking to someone who makes your collection look small then. 🤣 I use 14TB harddrives for media/games collections now. But not on the PS5. By all means you go for it but I prefer speedier loading times. It's the main reason I bought a PS5.

@Elodin @themuckman It looks like they've done similar with Centipede Recharged. Though, having not had chance to play it yet, I can't say if it works as well as Tetris Connected. I loved the original when I was young so I've got my fingers crossed.
@themuckman lol That was one of the first games I downloaded too. And I've also been playing other smaller titles. Spookily, having just bought a new pair of headphones this morning, I decided to try them out on one of the many games I'd have purchased but now get on Extra. I chose Last Day of June as I'd had my eye on it for a while and the soundtrack is done by a favourite artist of mine. As I'm playing it suddenly dawns on me I'm playing the Last Day of June on the last day of June with a thunderstorm ruining a lovely day for the protagonists, whilst outside, a sunny day is being ruined by thunderstorm. 🤣
Because I was excluding the yearly £50 for PS+ for the sake of showing expenditure differences. I'm only including the £34 that gets you access to Extra's library of games. I'd have bought PS+ either way.

I'm now getting a huge load of them for, basically, £34. I would happily have paid for them, I wanted them, but now I don't need to. Also I tend to buy a lot of smaller games throughout the year. At a rough guess I usually spend around £600 to £700 on games a year. Now it's £34 and maybe the odd multiplayer I like the look of. How is that loss of revenue good for the gaming industry? Good for us in the short term. But long term I can't see how. And then to hear people moaning...
