As much as I hate the whole “pay to access your internet” console subs. This is a nice move from Sony.
5 games is a nice thing to give and there’s variation for everyone, I know for a fact that two of those games are great (The Outlast Trials and Neon White - just ignore Neon White’s cringe story/VA)
With how lacklustre this generation has been for Sony, people who enjoy PlayStation better hope Valve bring some much needed competition, or the future is VERY bleak.
I don’t think this game has sold gangbusters, but given the fact it was made on a similar budget to Tsushima, it will still do more than well enough to be a success for Sony.
I’m loving Yotei so far, even if I’m slightly disappointed that (if I’m remembering correctly) only 1 of the big PS5 first party exclusives released so far is of a new IP (2/3 if we count Concord and Destruction All Stars lmao)
I’d rather put the money into upgrading my PC when the 60 series cards come out.
I tried everything possible to make this gen feel special, I bought the PSVR2, the pulse elites, the dualsense edge, I gave a chance to all the “exclusives”, I got the Pro day one, I was there at launch for the original system day one, nothing has helped make this generation feel worth the money put into it.
It’s been a disaster, and if it wasn’t for rising prices being able to give Sony wild profits, they’d be feeling that disappointment too.
Not everything has been squarely at Sony’s feet to blame like tariffs and rising costs for components, but if these things are happening you have to double down on the quality and making sure your customers get their worth for the heightened cost, they didn’t even try.
Almost half of the first team studios were wasted this whole gen working on live service games that were cancelled anyway, barely any new IP was blossomed through either, and the costs every month rise to make PC gaming look affordable, something that you’d have been laughed at for predicting in the PS4 era.
The only game that would make me get a PS6 day one is PHYSINT and that won’t be around till 2030, and by then we could even have full day and date PC releases, I won’t be buying a PS6 day one at this stage, and hopefully enough people do the same where these changes come faster.
I tried to give this gen every chance to deliver, even bought the pro, the psvr 2, the premium headset and controller.
Every step I’ve been disappointed, I’ve bought my gaming pc this year and won’t be looking back until Sony deliver the games I really care about like PHYSINT.
Love RGG but won’t be supporting this till the sexual harasser and nasty man Kagawa is taken off this project.
They were quick to get rid of Pierre Taki for minor substance possession after a police investigation. But a man found guilty of sexual harassment and someone who compared it to his cousin’s murder of his parents saying as a joke “it makes me look less bad haha” is allowed to work and rebuild his public image.
This game wasn’t needed anyway, but now it definitely isn’t needed, not in this state anyway, I think if you truly believe in free journalism and the right for free speech you should make an article on this as it’s garnered a whole lot more reaction online than half the rumours this site talks about.
We should not set a dangerous precedent for individuals found guilty of insidious crimes to be allowed work in our beloved industry, or any other industry for that matter.
@PuppetMaster thanks for the info man, had no clue Walt Williams was working on this, love that guys work (Spec Ops: The Line), my hype has just increased tenfold.
@Questionable_Duck it won’t be a decade, Kojima started an entire studio from scratch and developed Death Stranding in the space of 4 years.
OD is rumoured to be an anthology of smaller experiences so could be out within the next 2 years, I expect we will see PHYSINT by 2030, 2031 at the very latest.
So that’s still well under a decade, and will be 4 games in the space of 16 years, not a bad feat at all for an independent studio.
It wasn’t a GOTY contender but as a fan of the films I thought it was a good experience that was made with love for the IP.
I ended up getting the platinum around launch and recently picked up the season pass on sale, will be picking up this DLC too before I go and see Fire and Ash on IMAX in cinemas, love this series endlessly, Cameron is one of the greats when it comes to spectacle and pushing technology forward.
@belmont It’s all good man, in all reality this game hasn’t done gangbusters, but early sales figures were promising with it selling 1.3m copies in under a week, but I’ve seen nothing since.
But given the first game was divisive and it’s coming out on a smaller player base than the first game did, that was to be expected.
@Anya-chan If there was a game I had no interest in at all, I personally wouldn’t be one of the first to comment on an article surrounding said game, why waste my precious time on something I don’t care for?
Maybe others are different or simply have more free time, more power to them if that’s how they choose to enjoy things.
A game that didn’t deserve 95% of the hate it got, for the 5% of people who purchased the game were rightfully unhappy over how the game released without some obvious QoL features in the “polished” game they purchased, this game got caught in the middle of culture war nonsense, people fed up with the Star Wars IP and those who were tired of Ubisoft games but still had to make hating them their entire personality.
Just was the worst possible time for the game to release. It’s not a masterpiece by any means but it’s got some really cool stuff going for it where it actively differentiates itself from other Ubisoft open world titles in interesting ways, with the free updates that added stuff that should’ve been in the game day one, and the cool albeit shortish DLCs it’s become quite a nice package, one I’d definitely recommend picking up on sale down the line knowing how Ubi titles free fall in price.
Will say despite the technical state of the game and a lot of middling reviews, the player charts on Steam are pretty damn good so far, so it must’ve sold well, hopefully that motivates the studio to iron out these issues quicker and not repeat these mistakes in the future.
@Deadlyblack I’m glad you’re not running into issues (I know the feeling when I’ve played some “buggy” releases at launch without facing issues myself) but the user reviews on steam which were at like 76% negative today, all stated tech issues that greatly impacted their enjoyment, hopefully these issues get sorted out for all players soon so they can enjoy the game like you are!
The game is now one of the lowest rated user reviewed games of the year on STEAM with people complaining over technical issues galore, but I guess they are just going against the grain too right people?
They’d have to be a gaming god to be actually playing a souls like and commenting at the same time, unless they’re commenting between deaths, which would be very telling 😉
@ILuvGames No you don’t get it, why should I spend time playing the game I’m supposedly excited for and that I’m commenting about rooting for against “corrupt reviews” when I could just start online quarrels instead and moan about the game I love but am not playing instead.
The same people here moaning about Push Square for docking points due to poor performance are the same people who would denounce Push Square as a corrupt entity if they didn’t include performance notes in reviews and didn’t dock a game for it, leading to people buying it and being surprised by their new purchase running awfully.
You really just can’t win when a commenter has nothing better to do than moan and whine.
People in here are already trying to engage in the bad faith argument that PushSquare are giving lower reviews than anybody else.
Then these people have been shown proof that other places gave an even lower score than the 6 PushSquare did, this isn’t to troll the game or even diminish its value, it’s simply to disassemble the narrative being made in no good faith against a site simply because people are unhappy the game they looked forward to got a middling score, I’ve been guilty of this behaviour when I was younger, luckily I’ve grown up to realise the MC/OC should never indicate whether you enjoy a game or not as art is subjective.
Stop using buzzwords like “trolls” to muddy the waters between actual conversations and bad faith drive by postings.
Getting VERY tired with the amount of generic soulslikes being forced out into the wild these days, unless you have something truly special to offer like Lies of P did, I’d much rather developers make something unique and valuable instead of chasing trends to release games that are given praise for being “serviceable”, I’m sure that’s why they decided to make games years ago.
It’s okay to chase trends if you innovate on said trends, if you’re just going to produce something by the numbers, don’t expect most people to dish out their wallets as a response.
Lots of these people moaning about the game being similar to Tsushima must surely not play any sequels given how much they hate games being similar with incremental improvements over the former games?
I think Yotei looks good, not a GOTY winner most likely but an incredible open world experience to relax to, loads of nice improvements over the first game and even with YouTube compression it looks gorgeous on base PS5, will look incredible on Pro, can’t wait for October to come round!
@Frmknst I paid full price for the digital deluxe edition for a few reasons:
I wanted to fully support KojiPro and they’re one of the few devs who deliver (pun intended) fully polished AAA quality titles.
I wanted to avoid spoilers and seeing as DS1 is my favourite game of all time I was willing to pay the extra £10 for those extra days to play my most anticipated title in years.
DS2 is a game I won’t ever want to resale as even once I’m done with the platinum it’s a game I’ll come back to on and off like I do with DS1 as no other games offer what these two do, plus I’m over 52 hours in and still ONLY on Episode 6 of 14 I believe so this has been immense value so far.
I go physical where I can, but for games I know I won’t ever sell, unless there’s an insane physical deal, I’ll go for a digital copy for ease of access.
Good for him, Season 2 was garbage thanks to Mazin and his “creative genius”, Gross and Druckmann were seemingly the driving force between the few redeeming qualities of that season.
This also confirms that I don’t have to watch S3 now as I’m now more than confident there will be nothing of value aside from Kaitlyn’s performance.
Hopefully the earliest is 2028 otherwise this will be the weakest Sony generation by far.
Let’s give it a good run of years to extract the power from this machine and deliver the games people expected when they bought the damn thing day one I say!
Hopefully it’s not Until Dawn, very unpopular opinion but it’s by far for me the most overrated Sony IP from that PS4 era, great visuals for the time but that’s about it for me, I find myself going back to games like The Wolf Among Us far more regularly within that genre compared to Until Dawn, and Supermassive haven’t released anything that good since then either.
This is a nothing burger, of course sales will be down as:
most UK games are sold digital these days
most avid fans like me bought the DIGITAL deluxe edition
people who played the first one as it was a new thing at launch then found out they didn’t like it, of course aren’t going to be the first ones at the door for the sequel

Well that was arguably the worst SoP ever, amazing way to end the stream to basically beg the Japanese customers to buy your console.
I was looking forward to this broadcast too, well there’s always a next time I suppose.

@AdamNovice sure doesn’t feel like it did.

@Frmknst ah yes good old fashioned warfare with closing in circles and constant armour pad spam!

At least this means some of the more COD minded bunny hoppers will go over to their favourite game mode.
Means more time for good ol’ fashioned warfare.

The past two games were masterpieces so I got insane amounts of faith in the team.
Haters on the game can keep crying, I was raised on the OG through my older sister and still adore these games, both can exist!

I think this looks pretty damn good but after the narrative disappointment of Spider-Man 2 I’m not going to wildly ride the hype train.
