Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 'Will Be Loved by Everyone', Says Director 1

As Final Fantasy fans wait patiently for the third instalment in the grand FF7 Remake project, the trilogy's director is clearly happy with the upcoming RPG.

Speaking in an interview during Brazil Game Show 2025, Square Enix's Naoki Hamaguchi commented on the remake project and what he expects of the reaction to the third game, which currently doesn't have a title.

He explains the reasoning behind splitting Final Fantasy 7 into three parts, saying the remake could've "cut some parts and turned it into one game" — but that the fans would "never have forgiven us". To realise the full extent of the game "using new technology", they decided to make it a trilogy.

With Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth out and adored by fans new and old, Hamaguchi is expecting players will equally enjoy the third and final entry:

"Of course, I already have a clear idea of the ending for Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3. I think this conclusion will appeal to both those who loved the original and those who became fans of Final Fantasy 7 thanks to the Remake series. I’m confident this new game will be loved by everyone."

There's still a big chunk of the game's story to get through in the final part, so the third game could be a big one.

Square Enix has previously said development is progressing smoothly on the game, while Hamaguchi himself has said Rebirth is doing very well after fan concerns about its sales numbers.

It's difficult to determine exactly when Part 3 will be done; there was a nearly four-year gap between Remake and Rebirth, so it could still be a few years until we get to play it. However, it's possible the team could turn it around slightly faster having now produced the previous two titles.

Whatever the case, Hamaguchi seems pleased with how it's shaping up, and reckons everyone will love it.
