After the excellent Silent Hill 2 remake and new fan-favourite Silent Hill F, it's Silent Hill: Townfall that fans have to look forward to next. From developer Screen Burn, which did Observation, the new entry is out for PS5 this year. Get your first look in the trailer above.
Simon Ordell is called back to the island of St. Amelia to ‘put things right’, encountering a town lying quiet beneath a heavy fog, seemingly abandoned but not at rest. Venturing deeper, and driven to understand his connection to the place and its inhabitants, Simon begins to discover fragments of a past rising to the surface.

This looked really creepy/cool, Like the way they are going the RE7 route and going first person, will be watching the SH transmission to see more.
With how fast they’re pumping these out I’m worried the series comeback will burnout too quick.
Not feeling the first person, unfortunately. I don’t know what it is. I just can’t get into first person games despite them being designed to be a more immersive experience.
@Jireland92 at least they’re experimenting with different concepts. F was very different from 2 remake and this looks to be a lot different than both of them.
Atmosphere! Games like this are all about the atmosphere, esp anything in the Silent Hill Universe. I think this trailer nailed how this game seems to have great atmosphere. Looks fantastic IMO
@jFug yeah but if you experiment without first establishing a core foundation it can make a series look directionless.
Damn this looked good
What's scarier than Silent Hill? Silent Hill, Scotland.
First person killed any hype for me.
Not interested in first person perspective easy skip unfortunately
Seeing “first-person” wasn’t what I initially hoped for but that trailer is superb and I’m always willing to give any Silent Hill game a go. Indiana Jones turned out great and convinced me (despite my initial reservations on the perspective).
1st person seems like a weak attempt at a different angle in the Universe but beyond that it looks like back to old familiar as well. I think we’ll appreciate that much after some annoying stuff in f, not least the otherworld which seemed to feature way more than any foggy town i did not like the palette there at all.
Looking Forward to learning more.
I love the setting, love the protag, don't mind the first person perspective and love a lot of what's been shown, my only worry is a lack of enemy variety and the game potentially being a walking sim, but we will be there!
Personally, I know a lot of people will disagree, but this looks like where I want SH to go next
Very excited for this! I think the first-person perspective will be a nice change of pace; some great opportunities for scares, for sure. Nice to see a fresh protagonist, and the monster design seems correct. Definitely more in line with traditional Silent Hill, too (although I absolutely loved SHf). Pumped! Great show!
This looked really great. Konami is cooking right now, great to see them back firing. Castlevania looked brilliant too.
@Jireland92 They are developed by different teams right?
I'm looking forward to this. The first person makes sense for this studio whose previous often overlooked game Observation is also in this format. I really enjoyed that game for its uniqueness, mystery and atmosphere so doing a psychological horror like Silent Hill is a good fit.
I remember a couple of years ago me and wife went to Whitby for a weekend break during the winter for some reason and I can remember walking around there thinking what a great setting it would be for a horror game. Obviously silent hill townfall isn't set in Whitby but it has a very similar vibe and feel to the town where the game is set.
I think it looks great, but like someone else mentioned I hope there is a decent variety of enemies.
Once proud Japanese legends, whoring out their IP to lesser skilled western craftsmen. They defined genres with these franchises, now they will forever be nothing more than empty echoes of former greatness. Like the dusty, crumbling, vacant coliseum in Rome.
Was hyped for this until I saw it's 1st person.
They make me feel very sick. Shame
That roadsign made me think that this is set in a nice, coastal, English town. Then the villagers affirmed it.
I may be in Hated the last final hill game! Loved the remake. We will see where this lands.
Looks pretty awesome. Can't wait for the chuds to all lose their collective single brain cell over the game "going woke" by having a black main character. They already lost their mind when the mc of F looked like a real asian woman and not a gooner character from a mobile gacha game.
Not sure about first person.
The problem is that first person makes YOU the character.
The issue there is that these games are about telling the story of the authors character and the trauma they have been through.
I haven't killed my wife, or been beaten by my alcoholic father, so it doesn't really work. I need to view the events from the third person perspective because I am a fly on the wall, watching someone else's story and life unfold.
Whatever though, I will likely buy it anyway. Just hope the combat isn't too excessive and annoying.
Looks rough. Especially combat which "SH is always like that" isn't an excuse.
@anubisvel my sentiments exactly when it comes to first person. Doesn’t feel more immersive to me at all. It actually takes me out of the immersion.
3 silent hill games since 2024, let's hope konami don't keep doing yearly releases or people will get fed up of the same every year
@Noone2025 You mean 4 SH games since 2023 with Short Message.
I think Konami will keep doing yearly releases considering SH 2 remake sold 2.5 million copies, SH f sold 1 million copies, and so far Townfall received positive response.
Next year possibly SH 1 remake but if not then we could skip a year.
