@LifeGirl I think the difference of our opinion comes down to you seemingly (correct me if I’m wrong ) thinking it’s been a bait and switch and fans are right to be unhappy that they can no longer play as Geralt.

Where as I’ve always known this would be an eventual move in the series, especially after TW3, and reading the books the games are based on, this was always the end goal more or less, so I just don’t understand how fans can feel aggrieved by this change unless they didn’t understand the story enough or didn’t do their research.

With Pitchford at the helm I’ll always be doubtful, BL3 was the best game in many ways like exploration, gun play and traversal, but it was seriously lacking with its storytelling and character handling, hopefully this is a step in the right direction.

@LifeGirl Like I said, the game had always been setting this up pretty outwardly, and the books were always about Ciri, it’s not the developers fault those people weren’t paying attention.

Also it’s pretty repetitive that the same two female protagonists are always used by those who are now critical of female protagonists, it screams “I have black friends”, just because men liked two women in media now means that it’s not them that are the issue but the evil western developers! The fact you’re using very words like “cope” proves you’re going down a very narrow path with your argument.

Geralt hasn’t left the game, he’s in TW4, if fans don’t want to play as Ciri they can just say that, not make up excuses saying “she’s not a Witcher” which exposes their lack of comprehension skills.

When you say backlash, 99% of people who are behind said backlash are being laughed at because they’re clearly coming from a disingenuous place, if you’re part of the 1% who aren’t disingenuous then fair, but for the user I called out, their whole argument being “Ciri isn’t a Witcher” is a pretty poor excuse.

@ChimpMasta No conspiracy theory needed, some people are just too immature to accept a female protagonist, which is even more hilarious in this situation given The Witcher has always been about Ciri and TW3 literally set this up for Ciri to take the reigns, if you were expecting another game with Geralt as the lead you only have yourselves to blame.

@ATaco Druckmann literally cited Akira, Blade Runner and Cowboy Bebop as inspirations for this game, it's a retro futuristic aesthetic, brand placement is a huge part of 2/3 of those inspirations.

You can make an argument about not wanting a game that takes inspiration from those titles, but to say it's just corporate slop with product placement is highly reductive imo.

£75 for a standard controller (not an edge) is truly insane

DAY ONE. The usual suspects will cry over a bald female protagonist but I'm sure the game itself will do the talking, seems like they're really gonna level up the open ended design and melee combat loop from TLOU2!

People complaining about Product Placements, it actually made a lot more sense once I read the article just posted from the NY POST with Druckmann that stated how Cowboy Bebop, Akira and Blade Runner were all inspirations, 2/3 of those also had insane product placement, it's part of the whole retro future 80s aesthetic.

@elvisfan1 It definitely isn’t cheaper lmao, for the 10% of great digital prices, most games are priced 20/25 pounds more than their physical counterparts.

But the ease of access is still a big appeal, it’s why i go with digital/physical on a by game basis.

Less tech demos and more first party support.

12 hours into this game! Writing is still so so but there’s enough sprinkles of good storytelling and character development to keep me engaged, the real highlight of the game is its combat and zone exploration with how beautiful some of them are, also quite a decent amount of choice for a modern day BioWare title, by no means a masterpiece but a solid 7/10!

@kevinm360 agreed, console gaming only dies when gaming itself dies, as long as there is a market for video games there will be the market for consoles.

Until everyone has access to amazing internet speeds and PCs become more affordable for masses, this isn't happening any time soon.

X is awful in terms of how heinous posters seem to gain traction, but I still prefer it to Bluesky, BS lacks so many features and sometimes the posts are just so unbelievably cringe I can’t.

Maybe one day once the spam/low effort posting is filtered out, for now I’ll just use X for my news and Chelsea updates.

If the game is good nobody but console war fanatics will actually care, and if it sells well on the PS Store then Sony certainly won’t care.

So hyped for their next project, Lies of P was amazing and I’m sure their artistic flair will pop off with sci-fi horror.

Well in that case what a waste of those ideas, which is a huge shame as from the initial teaser I was so excited for this game but man, it’s really not worth it’s asking price.

@bazchillin that’s great for you pal, I have a series x, switch, Wii u and my laptop along with the PS5 Pro, look through my comment history and you’ll see plenty occasions of me criticising Sony, I just won’t make hilarious accusations for the game ripping off Mario where you could make a case for EVERY platformer doing that seeing how popular Mario is.

Image Quality overall is greatly improved over the old performance mode but all bodies of water now have a truly awful shimmering akin to how Silent Hill 2 looked before it’s recent patch.

Not a good enough improvement and is becoming a theme with Massive and their pro patches so far.

I loved my PSVR2 but I sold it in the end as just wasn’t using it enough to justify it clogging up dust around the place, it’s a marvellous piece of kit and games like Alien and Behemoth will be stunners.

I will admit though it’s a disgrace how Sony didn’t back it at all after launch in terms of first party support, I can only imagine how many units you’d have sold if you offered a The Last of Us VR title or even beating Meta to the punch with Batman Arkham Shadow.

@Max_the_German this reads like a parody post, how can one ever moan about having more options to fine tune games, especially with how consoles and PCs are getting ever closer in their pricing and architecture, so it makes sense to give those players the same sort of settings PC users are allowed.

There’s still gonna be bog standard quality and performance for those who can’t be bothered to fiddle around, but I one day hope we get a whole ass menu with each individual setting available!

Don’t wanna be a doomer but Jesus man what a loss, Shu is an icon and deserves his flowers, wish him the best of luck going forward, maybe it’ll be time to wish PS some luck too as they’re gonna need it without someone like Shu.

I’m still really happy with it! Almost every game runs and looks way better than the base PS5, and the select 3/4 games that look sub par will be solved in due time.

I can’t say it’s a must buy as no enthusiast product is, but if you only play on consoles and have a good OLED display, it’s going to be essential as we go into the latter half of this gen if you want the best possible experience.

Don’t know if you’ve tried this already but if you buy a usb c to a connector and plug it into the front usb c port on the PS5 then plug the PS Link into there, I’ve had not one disconnect with the Elite since back in April when I first did this little trick!
