Re: Hardware Review: Razer Raion for PS4 - This Hyrbid Fighting Game Controller Offers Impressive Precision

DanM

"...resting the Raion on your leg, or supporting the right side of the controller with your hand in a 'claw' position is much more manageable"... Yeah, no. That's just bad design.
If you have to experiment to find out how to hold it without hurting yourself, then it belongs in the trash, whatever it is, no matter if it does some other things very well. That's my two cents, at least

Re: Random: Trophy Hunter Creates Mural Dedicated to His Past 200 Platinums

DanM

My first Platinum is Assassin's Creed II. I'm level 21 with 53 Platinums and 3711 Trophies.
Should become 54 Platinums as soon as I'm done with my second playthrough of The Outer Worlds.
As I get older I care a lot less about trophies, but there are exceptions when I love a game and the trophies become just an excuse to keep playing. The Outer Worlds being a perfect example.

Re: Death Stranding's TGS 2019 Gameplay Demos Have Been Translated into English

DanM

Finally, a game where ruining the landscape by building a giant penis is no longer a solo effort but a collaboration work
Jokes aside, it looks interesting, but I don't know how much I like the idea of "connecting" and finding an highway with rest stops, restaurants and such, all along the way to my objective. Kind of takes the challenge away...
Of course I'd still like that more than finding a path or a bridge in the shape of a penis, created by the collaboration of ten thousand players, with millions of likes
Truly, anything is possible...

Re: GreedFall's PS4 Trophy List Requires Multiple Playthroughs for the Platinum

DanM

I used to play games all over again all the time, even if there was no platinum for it, and especially in cases like this with multiple endings. I had to see them all.
The last game I did this with was Fallout 4. I saved right before choosing which faction I wanted to win, played through all the possible endings of each faction, and then played the one I liked best all over again.
I don't do this anymore. Not because I don't want to, I would if I could, but I just don't have the time
10-15 years ago I would have jumped for joy at the notion of multiple endings and playthroughs. Now I just sigh dejectedly...
Adult life sucks

Re: First Person RPG Cyberpunk 2077 Will Have First Person Cutscenes

DanM

I don't care either way.
While I usually prefer TPV over FPV, I care more about the quality of the game. What I disagree with is their statement that FPV is more immersive. As others said above, that's true only in VR.
In fact, if it's not implemented well, it might even be a jarring experience. That surely won't be a problem with CD Projekt Red. They'll handle it well, I'm sure, but I never felt like my POV had any influence on immersion. It relates only to gameplay IMHO.
Also, like many others said, what's the point of visual customization if you can't see your character? I hope the way you're dressed in the game will have some influence on dialogues and relationships with npcs, otherwise it will really be pointless.
But I have faith in CDPR. I don't think they'll screw it up

Re: Obsidian RPG The Outer Worlds Could End Up Becoming an Xbox Exclusive Franchise

DanM

I don't know... One thing is having a lot of exclusives, which they will probably have, seeing how many studios they are buying, but another thing is having GOOD exclusives... I've read a lot of interviews with developers who already work with Microsoft and most of them seem to agree that Microsoft always mucks it up.
The common theme seems to be that developers have no say at all, it's marketing that has the last word on anything. An example that often came up was the launch of the Xbox One... I remember this programmer telling how the final product had nothing to do with what he and his coworkers wanted to do and they were even more disappointed than any gamer out there.
The Outer Worlds will probably be a good game, but its sequels may not, unless Microsoft has learned their lesson... after Windows 8 and the train wreck that was the Xbox One launch, I hope so, for everyone that owns an Xbox or plans to buy one

Re: Konami Can't Explain Unexpected PS Plus PES 2019 Swap

DanM

I've never downloaded a plus game.
They're either games I don't care about at all, or, if they're games that I want, guess what, I already own them... Because I wanted them!
Jokes aside, I really wish they'd put on plus some games I find interesting, but do not own... There are still a few out there, especially VR games...

Re: Sony's PS5 Strategy: Aim to Please Hardcore Gamers, Focus on Exclusives and Big Publishers

DanM

@kyleforrester87
Again, there is no widespread available good internet connection. That is also not a difficult concept to grasp.
Also, it seems to me that we are talking about two different things.
I said I agree with Sony that they're right to not focus on streaming right now, because, like the article you posted says, most people are not interested in it or just cannot use it. Whereas you seem more interested in the definition of the word market.
Maybe we should make the distinction between a few customers and a profitable service.
I am not saying no one uses streaming, that would be silly, I am saying less than 200.000 people in the whole wide world does not constitute a market. I use the word market in the sense a corporation like Sony would use it, that is: large user base = profit. While you are saying that there is a market because more than 0 people stream-play games.
So let's meet in the middle and use your definition of market and merge it with my, and Sony's, interpretation:
There is a very, very small market for streaming games, not profitable and with a minuscule userbase, which will not grow easily anytime soon, because, outside of silicon valley, very very few people have a decent internet connection.
Can we agree on that or do we have to keep this merry go round going? I've better things to do than argue all day about streaming Good night, mate, or good morning, I don't know what it is where you're at, good wathever-it-is, anyway...

Re: Sony's PS5 Strategy: Aim to Please Hardcore Gamers, Focus on Exclusives and Big Publishers

DanM

@kyleforrester87
Well, the article you yourself posted said that there was a small market for it and it got even smaller. I'd say you look silly posting an article that argues against your own point.
Beside, there is no market. Period. It's not my opinion, it's a fact.
For there to be a market, you need customers and the service needs to be available to those customers. There is no widespread high speed internet connection. That's a fact. So there's no customers, or there's so little of them that makes no matter. I frankly don't see what is silly about taking facts and reaching a logical conclusion. Saying there is a growing market for streaming right now is like saying there is a growing market for space tourism right now. It is available only to a very very small percentage of the population (those lucky ones that enjoy good internet connection). It will be different in the future, sure, but not anytime soon, which was my point.
Anyway, no harm no foul, you keep your silly opinions, I'll keep my silly facts and maybe next time read the articles you post links to... Who knows, you might learn something too...

Re: Sony's PS5 Strategy: Aim to Please Hardcore Gamers, Focus on Exclusives and Big Publishers

DanM

@kyleforrester87
You do realize that the article you linked to actually says the same thing I did?
Here's a quote from it:
"All of that changed in September of 2018 when Sony also allowed for the downloading of games. Sony CFO, Hiroki Totoki:
Since the launch of this download service, gameplay time per user has grown significantly to the point where gameplay time on downloaded PS4 titles is double that of streamed titles, a trend which has contributed to higher user engagement with, and retention on, the PS Now service.
According to Sony, subscriber count has grown nearly 40% on average each year, leading to a grand total of 700,000 users as of right now. "
So, to recap, most of the people that subscribe, and STAY subscribed to PlayStation Now are people that download games and play offline. The rest of the user base is a revolving door of people that try streaming and then leave.
So... Thanks for confirming I was right, and maybe next time actually read the articles you link to before trying to be condescending? Just a friendly suggestion.

Re: Watch Dogs Legion Continues to Sound Crazy, the Story Script Has 20 Different Versions

DanM

Dunno. I'll get this anyway because Watch Dogs, just like Assassin's Creed, is one of the series of which I buy everything that comes out, regardless of quality.
The first Watch dogs had a great story and decent gameplay, Watch Dogs 2 had a kind of meh story and incredibly fun gameplay.
Third time's the charm, I hope... Maybe they'll get both right this time... Or they'll make a horrible mess of it...

Re: E3 2019: No, You Can't Dismember People in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order

DanM

Wait, did you write this article because of my comment on the other one? Or is that just wishful thinking on my part?
I'll say it again: mutilation and dismemberment are the ONLY thing anyone looks forward to when you give them a lightsaber... Everything else, like story, characters, graphics, gameplay... It's all irrelevant

Re: E3 2019: Watch Dogs Legion Lets You Play as Anyone, Hacks PS4 in March

DanM

Looks interesting... I wonder if I can make a Dedsec Legion of grannies and grandpas and let them go around with tasers and pepper spray, beating and tripping everyone up with their umbrellas and walking sticks, cursing all the while, trying to understand how their smartphones work... They let me do that, it's day one for me
