Re: New Monster Hunter World: Iceborne Trailers Show Yet More Weapon Changes

DanM

The best thing I'm seeing in this videos is that now, probably because of the introduction of the clutch claw, every single weapon, not only the SnS, can shoot the slinger without having to sheathe. I'm sure GL users will be overjoyed. Also IG. I main IG and I hate when I have to sheathe my weapon to use the slinger, because it recalls the kinsect.

Re: Death Stranding Release Date Confirmed for November 2019

DanM

Am I the only one that thinks that that bit at the end with Mads Mikkelsen staring at the viewer and saying "I'll show you the real thing soon, I promise..." is a nod by Kojima to all the people that say that these trailers are nice but don't really explain what the game is like? It seems just like the kind of thing Kojima would do...

Re: State of Play: Monster Hunter: World - Iceborne Looks Incredibly Cool in First Gameplay Trailer, Gets a Release Date

DanM

No, no, no! I want to play other games too, damn it! Stop adding content, MHW! More than 500 hours I've given you! I thought we were almost done, but you keep dragging me back, you bast*rd! Just... Ieave me alone for a while, let me play other games... I barely touched Days Gone because of your damned Spring Festival, and now this! You'll be the death of me!....

Re: Monster Hunter: World's Impressive Sales Continue with 12 Million Units Shipped

DanM

I'm glad the game is so successful. I started playing around the time the collaboration quest with the Witcher III was introduced, and I haven't stopped since.
I mean, I play other games, days gone most recently, but most of my gaming time is now dedicated to Monster Hunter World, and I'm not tired of it yet.
First Monster Hunter game for me, and I love it.

Re: Days Gone Has Some Seriously Impressive Snow

DanM

That's cool. I think no game has ever made snow as well as Horizon Zero Dawn but this could come close. God of war also had realistic snow effects, though not as good as Horizon.
(Yes, I'm the kind of gamer that spends more time rolling in the snow or jumping in and out of the water to see if they're well done than actually playing the game
On the subject, nobody makes water as well as Ubisoft does. Between AC Origins, Odyssey and Watch Dogs 2 they've made the best looking, more realistic water in any game. )
I'm still looking forward to Days Gone though, regardless of snow and water

Re: Talking Point: Should All Games Have an Easy Mode?

DanM

There isn't a yes or no answer, it really depends on the game in question.
Take God of War for example: amazing game with a wonderful story that anyone can enjoy, regardless of their skill or the amount of time they can afford to spend playing the game. You like the challenge? Go for it. Just want to enjoy the story? You're set.
Then again, you have games like Sekiro or Dark Souls where the challenge is integral to the gameplay, and asking for a lower difficulty is akin to asking to turn a first person shooter in a JRPG... It would change the game into something completely different.
Personally, I have no interest in games like Dark Souls, just like I have no interest in turn-based JRPGs, but I would never ask for the difficulty to be lowered... like I said, they would become different games.
It all depends on the kind of game and the kind of gameplay.
Of course, I believe even games like Sekiro should have accessibility options for disabled gamers, like controls mapping or auto aiming and such, so that if you need it you can toggle them on or off as you like and as you need.
That's it from me. It turned out longer than I thought

Re: Does This Sony Patent Suggest It's Working on a Wireless PSVR?

DanM

The cables don't really bother me, personally. It just takes a while to set everything up, that's all. The only cable I could see becoming a problem is the one attached to the headset itself, but I usually position it behind me so that it reaches around to the side, well away from me... It's quite long so it's not really a problem...
I don't think I ever tripped or got caught in any of the cables while playing... Others have, though, usually because they were too busy saying I looked like an idiot to notice the cables under their feet

Re: ANTHEM's Latest Update Has Broken the Game on a Fundamental Level

DanM

Well, this is clearly done on purpose, then...
There are three possibilities:
1) EA just wants to shut down Bioware and created the perfect excuse;
2) This is all a big smokescreen created by Bethesda to make Fallout 76 look better by comparison;
3) EA has found a way to harvest money from the hate and curses of gamers;
Personally, I lean towards option 3

Re: RAGE 2 Trailer Details Crazy Abilities and Brutal Takedowns

DanM

It kind of reminds me of Dishonored, by the way you can fight and kill people in many different ways and combine them however you want. Still not interested, though... the more I see of this game the less I care for it... Which is weird because I remember having fun with the first RAGE...

Re: Devil May Cry 5 - Devil May Cry Back to Its Absolute Best

DanM

I'm not really interested in this, I've never played Devil May Cry games, but I might just buy this, later on, if only to show my appreciation of their putting a recap video of the previous games IN the game itself.
That's a great courtesy to newcomers, more developers should do that.

Re: Guide: Jump Force - All Confirmed Characters

DanM

Put in Hiei from Yu Yu Hakusho and I might buy this game, but as it is I'd say that's nowhere near enough characters... What's the point of including so many different series if you only pick one character from each of them?

Re: Assassin's Creed Odyssey Patch 1.12 Is a Big One, and It's Out Now on PS4

DanM

@Throb yeah those other monsters are annoying, but you should be able to fight them without moving too far from behind the columns and so avoid being turned into stone.
As for the option to quit the mission, it should be in the pause menu, in the same place where you find the "exit game" or "quit game" option. I can't tell you exactly because I haven't been playing AC Odyssey in a while, but I'm pretty sure it's there, I've never used it but I saw it a lot whenever I quit the game while playing a mission...

Re: Assassin's Creed Odyssey Patch 1.12 Is a Big One, and It's Out Now on PS4

DanM

@Throb
The trick is to hide behind a column in a position where you can hit her with your arrows but she can't hit you with her petrifying ray, and dodge and run around for all other attacks while always shooting arrows. It requires a lot of time and a lot of arrows.
Be patient and you'll make it
If you think you are under-leveled you can go in the pause menu and select the option to abandon the mission. it should reset your progress in the quest and you can come back to it later with a higher level and a better bow

Re: 'My PS4 Life' Tells You How Much Time You've Put Into Your Favourite Games

DanM

I was able to make the video, but... It's wrong
It says my first ps4 game was AC Black flag while I know for a fact it was Killzone Shadow fall... It says I have 39 platinums but I've got 50...
It does get right my most played game, which is the witcher 3 wild hunt, but it also says I played it for 700 hours, and I know I have 3 different playthroughs and one of them is more than 800 hours by itself alone...
It's weird, it's all mixed up, it says my rarest trophy is from xenoverse 2, which might be true, I don't know, but I know I got it sometime inbetween my 45th and 50th platinum, so how come it says 39?!
It's all so weird

Re: Spider-Man PS4 Dev Pushes Back Against Fan Criticisms Regarding DLC

DanM

Looks like a perfectly sensible and reasonable response to me.
It's not like they called him a tw@ or anything... If anything, the "fan" looks the more rude of the two to me...
As far as I'm concerned they could have just said something like "we won't put the damn suit in the game, I mean... did you see it?! It's godawful, man"

Re: Post-Apocalyptic Far Cry Game to Be Announced at The Game Awards 2018

DanM

I don't understand. Why is it so surprising?
(SPOILER ALERT)
After the way Far Cry 5 ended I don't see how a game set after a nuclear apocalypse would be so difficult to believe. I actually expected it, it seemed kind of weird to set up and end a game that way without some kind of future payoff. Mind you, I was thinking more in the line of a DLC or an expansion of some sort. A whole new game based on the concept is certainly interesting, but in no way did it came out of nowhere. Not after Far Cry 5 ... Maybe it's even a direct sequel, even if it doesn't follow the same character

Re: Hitman 2 - More Darkly Amusing Murder

DanM

@johncalmc Do you still need to be always online to unlock stuff, get rated at the end of missions and pretty much do anything that you should be able to do without needing to be online? Because that's what broke the fun with the last game for me.
