Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 607

DETfaninATL

I’ve taken a break from Borderlands 4 for a bit to play Black Ops 7. It’s a solid well made game and certainly has its moments but it’s…….. lifeless and same-y…… pretty much what I’ve accused the Borderlands series of being. Honestly, after only 24 hours with it, I’m considering just going back to Borderlands 4 which has proven to be quite fun and easily the best one since BL2.
Hope everyone has a great weekend gaming!

Still working my way through Borderlands 4. It’s a massive game absolutely packed with stuff to do. Thoroughly enjoying it thus far. Probably the mechanically best one ever although 2 will likely always have the best story. Hope everyone has a great weekend and enjoys whatever they’re playing!

Re: First PS Plus Extra Game for November 2025 Leaked

DETfaninATL

@SeanOhOgain You're not. I've never played a GTA game either and after RDR2, I doubt I'll ever play another R* game. They're certanly well done, good looking and fun, but they're also insanely involved games that require a ridiculous amount of time to complete and do most of the activities in, which I just don't have time for.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 605

DETfaninATL

I’ll be spending some time playing Borderlands 4. I’m pretty impressed with all the quality of life improvements in the game and while all of the Borderlands games tend to feel very ……. same-y, this iteration may very well be the best and most enjoyable one they’ve done. That said, the platinum hunt (if you’re a trophy hunter) looks to be a VERY long one as the trophy stack is rife with things like complete all missions, complete all side missions, complete all contratcs, find all areas and the grindy time sink of level all 4 vault hunters to level 50 which is hidden behind a different description altogether. Anyways, hope everyone enjoys whatever they’re playing this weekend!

Re: PS Plus Essential Games for November 2025 Announced

DETfaninATL

SWEET!!! A game that was already offered on PS Plus that I've played and 2 games I could care less about. Man, these 'free' offerings Sony keeps doling out are right up there with some of their other offerings like the new 'rewards' program and a lack of themes for the PS5.

Re: Random: Fans Can't Believe Halo Is Coming to PS5 Before Killzone

DETfaninATL

Forget Killzone - what about Resistance?? I always preferred Resistance FAR more than Killzone and have been wanting a remastered trilogy or new entry in the series on PS5 for ages. And yes, I know RESISTANCE: Retribution is available on PS5 complete w DLC but that doesn’t count in my mind any more than KILLZONE: Liberation does.

I finally platinumed DYING LIGHT: The Beast so I picked up Borderlands 4 and started on that last night. Having played all of the Borderlands games, I had grown tired of the formula as, if you’ve played one of those games you’ve pretty much played them all. But I have to say, after just a few hours in to this one, they’ve really nailed it. There’s so much that Gearbox has improved on that this seems to be the very best iteration of the Borderlands ‘formula’.So, when time permits, that’s what I’ll be playing this weekend. Hopefully everyone has a great time w whatever they’re playing! CHEERS!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 603

I’m out of town this weekend back up in my hometown of Detroit so the only ‘gaming’ I’ll be doing this weekend is going to see the Michigan Wolverines play today, the Detroit Red Wings play tomorrow and then going to see my Detroit Lions take on Tampa Bay on Monday Night Football! Hope everyone has as much fun as I’m going to with whatever they get into this weekend! Happy gaming all!!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 602

Still working my way through DYING LIGHT: The Beast. It’s a really good game but I have to say, there are some design choices in it that are beyond frustrating. Lack of fast travel is probably the #1 culprit here but there are a few others. Otherwise it’s a pretty solid mix of the best parts of the other two games. Hope everyone has a great weekend gaming!

Re: Call of Duty Is Trying Everything It Can to Make You Play Black Ops 7 Over Battlefield 6

DETfaninATL

@get2sammyb For the most part, I'm pretty ambivalent about SBM but I will say, the world doesn't operate that way in competition for many things such as jobs, life mates or especially on an actual battlefield itself so if we're going for a more 'realistic' approach, as some people are, I'd say it's actually the way to go to eliminate SBM. But maybe the happy medium here is to have SBM for general / casual matches but eliminate it for ranked play? Just a thought....

Re: Call of Duty Is Trying Everything It Can to Make You Play Black Ops 7 Over Battlefield 6

DETfaninATL

I thoroughly enjoy FPS games, but Battlefield has done everything it can in the past few years to make it ROCK SOLID that I'll NEVER buy a BF game at launch or anywhere near it ever again, no matter how good the initial reviews and reports are. After the past few releases being so absolutely undercooked and piss poor at launch I'll never get them out of the gate again. Sure - I'll pick it up and play it many months down the road after the inevitable patches have been put into effect and there's maybe even a sale or price drop but I'm done with Battlefield at or near it's release window. There's always too much else out ther at this time of year to spend my hard earned $$ on.
On the other hand, I play COD every year with some friends and regradless of whether one yearly iteration is better or worse than the last or other previous ones, I can always count on it being a solid, fun to play and technically well executed game every single solitary year.........which is a LOT more than I can say for BF. So, it'll be COD day one for me and BF6 many months down the line.

Re: People Don't Buy Anywhere Near As Many Games As You Think

DETfaninATL

I guess it kind of depends on how they / we are defining 'new'? Is 'new' a brand new, full MSRP priced game? Or is it just any 'new' game I haven't previously purchased before whether it's on sale or at full MSRP? If the former, then yeah - maybe a few times year as I try to save money where I can and I can patiently wait a year or more to play most games. But if the latter then yeah, I but a new game every time I finish the last one I played which averages out to about one a month or so, give or take.

Re: Poll: Vote for Your PS5 Game of the Month (September 2025)

DETfaninATL

CRONOS The New Dawn is not only the best game in September '25 for me but also GOTY thus far as well. It's just so good at everything it does and has such an incredible atmosphere.Everything about it is just amazing. Sure, it borrows heavily from Dead Space and Resident Evil and even a little bit from Silent Hill, but it really comes together as something all it's own. The graphics are incredible, the sound design & score is amazing, the mechanics are fun and it really nails the whole survival horror gameplay with thoughtful inventory management, fair but tough difficulty and an oppressive atmosphere. Highly recommended if you like survival horror.

Re: Talking Point: Are You Getting Sick of Sony's Supposedly 'Samey' Approach to Story Telling?

DETfaninATL

Story is one of the least ineteresting aspects of a game for me and I have little or no problem skipping over dialogue just so I can get to why I play a videogame in the first place - to actually, you know, play them. So even if the story-telling is pretty 'samey' I didn't really notice nor do I really care either. I just want good / fun mechanics in a game along with great graphics, excellent sound design, few bugs (if any) a solid framerate and if the story is good then great. If not whatever. Just my 2 cents worth......

Re: Silent Hill 1 Remake Now a Big Focus at Bloober Team, Could Make Cronos 2

DETfaninATL

@Fiendish-Beaver Yeah m8! For sure. To me a game is measured PURELY on how much of a good time you have playing it and for me, nothing came out this year that matched how much fun I had with Cronos TND. Sure we can all critique graphics, story, sound design, frame rate, mechanics, etc., but it really just comes down to: how fun was it? And man oh man Cronos was a LOT of fun! And while I'm at it, the sound design and OST was amazing too! Cheers!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 600

DETfaninATL

I’ll be starting my NG+ run on Hard difficulty of CRONOS: The New Dawn. Super impressed with the game! It takes heavily from Dead Space and blends it with Resident Evil and Silent Hill to make a very solid, extremely fun and incredibly creepy new IP all its own. I dare say it’s my GOTY thus far based solely on how much enjoyment I’ve gotten out of it, which after all, is why we play games to begin with. That said, I hope everyone enjoys whatever they’re playing this weekend. Cheers!

Re: New PlayStation Rewards Program to Offer Exclusive Merch, Starts Today

DETfaninATL

Who's getting rewarded here?!?!?! Not us, the players. It's Sony because we get the 'reward' of an opportunity to give them more of our money. What brain dead executive over there thought this one up and who are the idiots that approved it??? How about actually rewarding us with FREEBIES of some kind for us already spending our hard earned $$ with you? IDIOTS.....

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 599

DETfaninATL

My campaign of cleaning up some games and getting them to 100% trophy completion has taken me to CASTLEVANIA: Lords Of Shadow on the PS3. Haven’t played it since 2010 but I’m rather enjoying a return to it.
Of course, now I finally have my physical copy of CRONOS: The New Dawn which I’ve REALLY been looking forward to, but as one who doesn’t like to play multiple games at once so as not to confuse control schemes, I guess I ‘ll wait on it another week or so. LOL first world problems for sure. Hope everyone has a great weekend and enjoys whatever they’re playing!

Re: GOTY Frontrunner Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Just Keeps Selling, Cracks 4.4 Million Copies

DETfaninATL

@Czar_Khastik Thanks bud - that’s a VERY comprehensive post full of good information that helps me understand why so many people love this game. I see your posts on this site fairly often extolling its virtues. Unfortunately, turn-based games are the farthest thing from what I actually like in a video game so it’s a hard pass for me but it does sound like if ever I was going to give a turn based game a shot this would probably be it.
