Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give DOOM: The Dark Ages?

DETfaninATL

I actually like it better than DOOM: Eternal, but maybe not quite as much as the 2016 reboot by just a liiiiittle bit. Dark Ages is immensely fun and quite well made. Not really understanding all the hate for the Atlan and Dragon levels as I thought they were fun, a little something different and didn’t overstay their welcome.

Traveling to Colorado this weekend for the holiday so I won’t have much time at all to game, but if I do it’ll be on my PS Paperweight ………..uh, ‘Vita’. ……. 😂😉 where I’ll be playing some Gravity Rush. Gravity Rush is a great title for that device as it makes good use of most of the Vita’s features. Unfortunately, about the only time I ever play my Vita anymore is when I travel which isn’t too often and even then it’s not much since there’s (obviously) other stuff I’d rather be doing. Anyways, hope everyone has a great time with whatever they’re playing!

Re: Round Up: Lies of P: Overture Previews Reveal Difficulty Options, Boss Rush Mode, and More

DETfaninATL

I haven’t played this yet and it’s been on my list of games to play since before it came out. Despite the fact I’ve played just about every Soulsborne, Souls-like and Souls-lite out there the difficulty of this one has had me hesitant about it. Seeing as how there’s going to be a difficulty option that can make it a bit easier, I may just give this a go when that happens…..

Re: TV Show Review: The Last Of Us (HBO) Season 2 Episode 6 - Robbing the Story of Its Genius

DETfaninATL

The games are certainly very good games and well made but, IMHO, are also somewhat overrated. Maybe it’s because I played the first one a few years after it came out, but I definitely didn’t think it was THEGREATESTGAMEEVERMADEINTHEHISTORYOFEVERANDDON’TYOUDARESAYOTHERWISE!!!!! Same for the sequel.
As for the TV show, It’s definitely well done entertainment and I enjoy watching it but there’s no question it has its issues, much of which has been discussed on this site already so I won’t belabor the point. Suffice it to say, it’s a good story that works well in both mediums but isn’t the be-all, end-all many make it out to be.

Re: Poll: Are You Playing DOOM: The Dark Ages?

I did something for this game that I very rarely do which was to pre-order it. With games like DOOM, God Of War, Call Of Duty, Remnant, any FromSoftware game and maybe one or two other series or developers, I know from past experience the quality of game I’ll be getting and that it will be loads of fun. All of which is to say I’m all about supporting good devs and game series with top dollar to show my support for them. Especially in a day and age when game studios seem to be closing down left and right every time you turn around.

I have nothing to play this weekend as I just platinumed Rise Of The Ronin and now I’m just biding my time until DOOM: The Dark Ages.
Having said that though, the game did get me in a very Japanese-oriented mood as I’ve always found their culture and country beautiful, rich and fascinating, so I watched the 2024 version of Shogun. Can’t recommend it enough if you’re into that sort of thing. Utterly fantastic in every way!

Re: State of Play Set for Wednesday, 20 Minutes of Borderlands 4 Gameplay

DETfaninATL

Borderlands 1 was awesome, fresh, cool and a ton of fun
Borderlands 2 was somehow an improvement on what was already great and that much more fun
Borderlands The Pre-Sequel was too similar and too soon after the last entry and ended up being largely forgettable and .......'just OK'
Borderlands 3 was a big disappointment for A LOT of reasons. Take your pick - i'm sure you have your own.
Tiny Tina's Wonderlands was somehow surprisingly good and quite fun. I suspect because it didn't entirely follow the Borderlands formula, but whatever the reason it worked pretty well.

Borderlands 4 though? I remain skeptical based on 3 and the Pre-Sequel, but cautiously hopeful based on Wonderlands. One way or the other, I know I'll end up picking this up at some point but I highly doubt it'll be on Day 1 like I've done with the past entries. I DO KNOW though, that I don't need a 20 minute SoP for this game.

Taking my time with Rise Of The Ronin and also playing some MP matches of COD BO6 here and there. RotR is a good game but it’s not holding my interest for long periods of time and it feels like Ghost Of Tsushima lite. Maybe I’m just looking forward to some of the games coming out in the next few months so I’m just biding my time? Whatever the case…… happy gaming everyone!

Re: Ghost of Yotei Gets PS5 Release Date, Trailer, Pre-Order Details

DETfaninATL

Definitely all-in on this but I'll likely do what I did with the first one and wait for a 'Director's Cut' or whatever (and even then probably on sale) as there will inevitably be DLC for this game. With all the other games out there that I want to play, I prefer to minimize my monetary expenditures instead of letting these publishers nickel and dime me to death for everything. But yeah, this game looks GREAT!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 576

DETfaninATL

i just platinumed BANISHERS: Ghosts Of New Eden so I went and picked up Rise Of The Ronin yesterday and started on that. It reminds me a LOT of Ghost Of Tsushima. Not very far into it yet to say how good of a game it is but from what I’ve played so far I’m enjoying it.
Other than that, I’ll be playing COD: BO6 as I always knock out the daily challenges and move on.
Hope everyone has a great weekend and enjoys what they’re playing!

Re: Xbox Has 'a Lot More' PS5 Ports to Come in 2025

DETfaninATL

Only 3 I've ever had any REAL interest in that were Xbox exclusives were Gears Of War, Halo and Sunset Overdrive. I'd also like the Senua sequel as I played the first game and enjoyed it enough, but it's not in the same class as the other 3 for me.

Re: Atomfall (PS5) - British Charm Elevates Riveting Mystery

DETfaninATL

Never been a huge fan of the Fallout type of game despite playing Fallout 3 & 4 to 100% completion on the trophy stack, so I'll be passing on this. But I'm glad that this has reviewed well as the industry in general needs some good, well-done and (hopefully) successful new IP's.

Re: Poll: Are You Playing Assassin's Creed Shadows?

DETfaninATL

I’ve only ever played Odyssey (to 100% completion on the trophy stack) and AC III on the Vita so I’m not a big fan of the series but I’m definitely looking forward to picking this one up at some point. There’s just something about this setting that clicks w/ the AC series for me so I’ll be picking this up at some point.
