And so here we are: the first WAYP of 2026. Fortunately, this is one feature where we don’t intend to reinvent the wheel. So, you can expect the same regularly scheduled Talking Point, every Saturday, just like it’s always been.

Honestly, I'm not sure what I'll play this weekend. I'll maybe just chill out with some multiplayer games, which usually means crashing out on The Finals or screaming "don't shoot!" in ARC Raiders.

I've been neglecting my Steam account an awful lot lately. I'm thinking it's time I pick up Tempest Rising and spend some time with it. I've been itching to try it for a while, and now is the time, surely!
Jamie O'Neill
I don't want Christmas to end, so the idea of defending Batman against eight of Black Mask’s assassins, and fighting a thug in a Santa hat in snowy Gotham, means WB Games Montréal's PS3 Batman: Arkham Origins is a perfect way to start 2026.
Sammy Barker
I'm still travelling, so I'll continue playing piddly little things on my phone. I've been booting up Resident Evil Survival Unit a little bit lately, and I think it's fun enough.
Stephen Tailby
Happy new year! I'll be honest, the Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve announcement has me so amped up, I'm very tempted to fire up Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown and blast through the campaign again. Not sure there's a better way to see in 2026.
And that concludes our first WAYP of 2026. Pretty good, wasn't it? Let us know how you're ringing in the New Year in the comments section below.

Yakuza 0 all weekend long 😎😎
Metroid prime 4 on switch 2 and may start hellblade 2
To start the year I am playing Castlevania Lords of Shadow on the Steam Deck (because the Xbox is just trash for taking screenshots).
I am on Chapter 2 in Red Dead Redemption 2 and it is a good game but the controls are just terrible.
And I am continuing with Quake on the Switch as I am on Act/Chapter 3 of the main game
Happy gaming everyone!!!
Thankfully my tummys finally recovering from the Christmas/New year bloat - now I can finally get back to rescuing Liara in Mass Effect 🙂
I’m Arma Reforger, Arc raiders and some Pacific Drive. Have a good weekend all
Donkey Kong Bananza: Loving all the destructible terrain and Kong transformations. The environments have creative denizens, such as the gem-like Fractones, and it's nice to see Pauline's backstory. There's tons to do, and I'm only six layers down; it's quite a blast.
Ghost of Yotei and maybe Destiny 2.
Continuing Alan Wake Remastered, as the beginning of the full trilogy including Control dlc. Halfway through AW it’s both frustrating (old gameplay) and great (story, atmosphere).
Ball X Pit
The one who recommended this crazy addictive game knows who he is -_-
@trymer89 great game. Just pure fun
I just finished the Silent Hill 2 remake and I was blown away. I never played the original but the VA work for James and Mary / Maria was sensational. I loved the way that the heartbreak of James losing his wife was put across in subtle ways such as his constant sighing and lack of patience. Video game characters can be a little one dimensional sometimes but here we have a main character of real depth and it was intriguing to go on the journey with him, even if I didn't agree with everything he was doing.
PS5: Mainly Spider-Man 2 which I bought on sale. I am really loving it 🥳. I just love collecting stuff and finishing districts. Also some Arc raiders when I’m in the mood but still downloading EA: WRC (slow internet..)
Trails in the sky: first chapter. Wasn't sure at first, but 40 hours in and Im enjoying the busy work and characters a lot.
I might try outer worlds 2 again. I gave it a cursary look and fell off quick, but it deserves more than that!
Whatever you play this weekend, I hope you have fun!
Hopefully finally finish Tales from the Borderlands today and maybe Still Wakes the Deep. I also need to get back to Outer Worlds 2 and I've got Borderlands 4 coming from Amazon and i bought Sniper Elite Resistance and a couple of others games in the January sale.
Pokemon Legends Z-A, Powerwash Simulator and The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask on my Switch 2
I bought DLC for Alan Wake II, so the playthrough is taking longer than I thought it would. I've been playing it on and off.
I think the sections with Alan Wake drags out with a lot. I love myself some postmodernism, but dear God the writing in places are too much.
I think it is the combination of the same lines/points repeated again and again that wears me out. Also, the story about the cult is too disjointed, too contorted to carry the game.
The puzzles could also be better, as in the Sherlock Holmes games you get to deduct things yourself - here everything is resolved for you as you drag a piece of evidence to the only place it fits.
That is all of my criticism, check out the review on here for a complete rundown on ALL its merits.
I am at least on a 8/10 for this one.
Street Fighter 6 for my multiplayer fix.
And Skyrim for my… RPG-im?
Sorry, I couldn’t think of a rhyme.
My after Christmas sleep pattern is so out whack that I forced myself to wake up at 9:30 this morning and it feels like it’s 4am.
@naruball 👍
I'm juggling a few at the moment. Once I finish all these I'm hoping to stick to one game at a time for 2026. The games are:-
Disco Elysium which has just taken a crazy turn I didn't see coming.
Judgement 2: The Kaito Files, I should finish this today.
Pipistrello & The Cursed Yo-Yo, this game is fantastic I've taken out 2 bosses so far.
Planet of Lana, picked it up for just over £4 and loving what I've played of it.
Cocoon, I must be on the last part and might finish it this weekend. A real blast with this one.
Despatch. This game is gorgeous and hilarious. I've done the first 2 episodes.
Have a great weekend everyone, it a whiteout here in Aberdeen so I don't plan on leaving the house until I have to go back to work on Monday 😭
Well happy new year folks..to kick things off it's EA wrc rally and a spot of Arc raiding. Going to give AC:Shadows a play now I have a bit of me time. Have a great weekend folks and 👍
I am looking forward to many hours of plundering, pillaging and smuggling in Skull and Bones. I am afraid that 6 hours of cutscenes and wobbly slow walking in Death Stranding was plenty enough for me. I'll not be going back. However, I do now have a pirate ship that fires torpedoes, after a similar amount of time. Happy New Year 😀
I finally reached Act 3 in Divinity Original Sin 2. I’m still utterly blown away by the depth this game has to offer, not only from a gameplay perspective, but also its quests and companions.
But in terms of combat, I’ve usually always play as a barbarian or rogue assassin/archer, yet I’ve grown to be enamored with the sorcerer class. It’s been a blast — quite literally — and it’s incredibly OP if you can use the right talents, and have equipment that provides elemental buffs. This may just be my “go-to” class for future games, or even existing ones such as Baldur’s Gate 3.
And then there are the quests, main and side that continue for multiple chapters. I love how open-ended they can be, and really matter depending on your choices. I’m seeing ramifications for my actions in Act 1 as I venture into the final act. Oh, I’m also befriending members of the Black Ring and then betraying them in the utmost satisfying ways.
I’m really curious to see how much Larian continues to evolve with their new Divinity game. I personally believe Baldur’s Gate 3 is one of, if not the best game ever made on different levels, so to expand on their expertise is going to be very interesting.
I think now, I feel comfortable dipping my toes into another game to play in between sessions in Divinity; Cronos The New Dawn has been tempting me for months.
After 4 months of trials and tribulations Resident Evil: Revelations Raid mode is done! So I don’t have to play (I say play… more like submit myself to torture) or think about that anymore. 😅
Started Gears of War: Reloaded yesterday, which will be my first of at least 4 Xbox Studios games this year to celebrate their 25th anniversary. So I’ll hopefully be able to get a bit more progression done on my first playthrough.
The good news is, that it isn’t Resident Evil: Revelations, the bad… the mp on this might take even longer!
After 100+ hours I’ve finally gotten to the Epilogue of Hades. Wanna go for the platinum as only got 3 or 4 trophies to go.
Platted Dead Island 2 late last night as well whilst watching the awesome semi final of darts, only needed the Survivor trophy 👌
Football and no beer also this weekend as trying dry January 🤞
Have a great gaming weekend Pushsquarians! 🍻
Greetings fellow video game enthusiasts. This weekend I hope to start the video game known as Astrobot. I’ve heard it’s quite the award-winning video gaming experience. Happy gaming time lovely purple.
Probably a bit of Fallout 4 until I can work up the energy to carry on with Divinity 2, which I started over the holidays but was too busy to properly get into
i just finished mafia toc, so i’m doing the start something new or resume something old debate, probably figure it out by sunday night.
I'm playing:
Ys: The Oath in Felghana (PSP) / PS Vita / Hard difficulty
Man, i really miss Ys series and Falcom games from this early 2000 era 😭. The chibi 2D sprite, the character design that looks simple but immaculate, the old man narrator, and solo Adol kicking ass everything without talking like current Adol.
And the music is the PEAK of Falcom Sound Team JDK works! Just listen to this "The Boy Who Had Wings" track and i don't think any track from Ys 8, 9, or 10 can comes close to this banger!
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ATBcYQjE6rw&pp=ygUbWXMgdGhlIG9hdGggaW4gZmVsZ2hhbmEgb3N0
Also. I wish more RPG follow Ys higher diificulty. Not just the enemies have more health but they especially the bosses have different move sets + more agressive when their health bar down to half. I got my ass kicked many times by the first boss lol. Currently i'm at lava cave fighting the fire eater Guilen.
Have a great first weekend of 2026 everyone 🍻
Tomb Raider 2, Final Fight and Alwa's Awakening on Evercade.
Happy New Year, fellow Push Squarians! This weekend I will be hunkering down indoors to avoid the snowstorm currently hitting the North East of Scotland, and while doing so I will be continuing to play: -
Have a great weekend, folks.
Playing the wonderful Lumines Arise addictive like crack and the best PS5 exclusive of last year. Ghost Of Yotei ZZZZ can do one !
Despite the criticism, which I agree with, Metroid Prime 4 Beyond which im enjoying immensely. Its a game from 2007 but I just love the sense of isolation and atmosphere on this. Yes it's linear but I think thats one of its strengths.
Also recently restarted Final Fantasy 9 PS4 version, the best in the series ! Looking nice with its hi res makeover too !
Have a great weekend guys and gals ❤️
Happy New Year folks! Rolled credits on the first Nioh yesterday, what a ride that was, absolutely loved it! I’ll probably wait and jump into 3 next before tackling 2, apparently the stories don’t really follow on? (If anyone can confirm that’d be appreciated 😄)
Picked up Ninja Gaiden Black in the January sale to tide me over until then, why did no one tell me this game was so hard? 😂. Changing the move speed of the camera to fast has helped a lot, but damn that second main boss kicked me around for a long time. I got him eventually… a long ways off master ninja for now, but let’s see what 2026 brings.
Have a fun first 2026 weekend!
I've set myself the goal of starting AND finishing 30 games in 2026. Busy job, two kids and a tendency to get sucked into the odd live service game - curse you ARC Raiders for what you did in 2025 - means this will be a decent challenge. Today I'm starting with making the list of games I know I want to play, probably while going topside and fighting ARC...
As per the shoutout from @graymamba - anyone with some gaming goals for 2026, here's the place to add them!
https://www.pushsquare.com/forums/retro_and_other_gaming/gaming_resolutions_for_the_new_year_of_2026#comment8967587
I tried a couple of games but nothing has stuck.
The list is:
As you can see the list is diverse and full of 7/10 games as well as some masterpieces. So the problem is in me apparently.
I'm looking for a cosy game to play before bedtime on my PS Portal so later tonight I'll pop the last sucker in: Trails in the sky 1st chapter remake.
I wish you all the very best for this new year and I hope you'll wish my weird brain good luck so that Trails stick since everything else failed.
Currently playing Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown as my single player game. Enjoying it so far so I’ll be cracking on with that over the next 2 days.
Finished up my playthrough of Talos Principle Reawakened, thankfully they've sorted out the framerate issues that were there on release, and playing it with the developer commentary on is interesting. I know the DLC is going to kick my butt, so I'm finishing off Clair Obscur first. I've got a shiny new LG C5 coming in a couple of hours, so really looking forward to that too.
Have a great weekend Folks!
Finishing up the Monster Hunter Wilds main campaign then hitting Assassin's Creed Shadows finally.
@PuppetMaster Oath in Felghana is the game that kicked off my Falcom habit. It's just so good.
@NieR_Dark yeah Nioh 2 is’nt a ‘direct’ sequel to the original… I think it takes place a few hundred years before it actually. There is connective tissue though… but I won’t spoil it 😉
@MightyDemon82 Cocoon is definitely one of my favourite 'short and sweet' games out there, having already beat it 100% on Steam back in 2023 and also Platinumed it on PS5 back last November. Really like the effectiveness of its simple controls especially.
Myself, I've put Squeakross (on Steam Deck) to one side for now due to a little picross burnout, and to start off the new year, I've started Unicorn Overlord via PS Plus catalogue on my Portal. Can't really make a full judgement yet, but I'm already digging its real-time tactics gameplay (if it were tile-based like Fire Emblem, that might have put me off a little).
Happy New 2026 y'all!
@Marquez good luck on achieving you 2026 goals. Maybe once you’ve completed you list, you can add it to our 2026 Gaming Resolutions thread:
https://www.pushsquare.com/forums/retro_and_other_gaming/gaming_resolutions_for_the_new_year_of_2026#reply-02
Diablo4 grind and also started Forbidden west as a secondary platinum run. Last time I played FW it was on base Ps5 and it looked amazing. Now I’m playing it on the PRO and man alive it’s stunning. Who needs a PC when console games can look this good. Happy gaming everybody
I will continued playing fan favorite the classic the amazing onimusha warlords.i will continued playing one of the best video games ever made and the best soul like like games not made by from software next to remnant from the ashes in the incredible nioh with all the dlcs.i will be watching my pittsburgh steelers 💛🖤 play.and I will also be watching my boston celtics 💚🖤 play.i will be watching legendary sitcoms TV 📺 comedy shows in family matters.good times.the Jeffersons.sanford and son.different strokes.the wayans brothers. Martin and saved by the bell.word up son
Still on GTA's only competition now - Cyberpunk 2077. I just love this game! Didn't know Deathloop had RT, looks like a whole new game on that setting. Will try to see if i can rescue Capon for the hundredth time in KCDII.
@graymamba That’s good to know. I kind of want to play 3 alongside everyone else. There’s something about those types of games discovering everything at the same time as others, as corny as that sounds, and then I know I’ve got 2 to look forward to after! 🙂
On Playstation:
Assassin's Creed Shadows
Currently level 37 and I'm completing various assassination missions in Yamashiro and Omi provinces.
On other platforms:
American Truck Simulator
Delivered a backhoe loader to Winnemuca and petrol to Santa Maria. After 29 days my DF Logistics trucking empire has 10 trucks. Have explored all cities in the base game and will now switch to Euro Truck Simulator to do the Scandinavia DLC.
Euro Truck Simulator 2
Have moved back to Europe to look after my trucking empire there and I'm making my way from the bottom of Hungary up to Scandinavia to access new markets. Delivered cars to Graz. After 94 days my Ziggurat Spedition trucking empire has 34 trucks.
Keeper
Completed the Lock Keeper chapter in Act 2.
@NieR_Dark yeah I don’t think it’ll spoil your enjoyment by playing them out of order. Nioh 2 will be a nice game to keep in the backlog for when you feel like it anyway. Brilliant game!
Star Wars Outlaw, I'm really digging Kay and Nyx's little adventure so far and I look forward to where it goes.
I'm also reinstalling Diablob IV to play with chums.
Happy New Years folks.
@Mintie I’m currently playing Diabloiv and I’ve been struggling to get to grips with the whole ‘ build’ thing to take on the higher difficulties. It’s slowly coming together but this is the first time I’ve ever played one of these types of games so it’s a steep learning curve for me. I went from normal to penitent last night to see where I’m at stats wise and I get mullered now and again all of a sudden when I’m doing the Helltide areas. Need to get to grips with it asap before lord of hatred comes in march. I brought the DLC this morning so I can get on with the Vessel of hatred campaign as I want 100% trophies
This weekend I'm continuing the hunting of my Shinbakufu targets in Assassin's Creed Shadows. Just got another one yesterday. Man, this world is big, so many things to discover, loving it!!
As I finished Yakuza 6, now it's time to dive in the Judgment story. Always heard great things about this one, so I wil pack many hours in it.
In Final Fantasy VII Rebirth I finished the intense chapter 12 (and got the pair I wanted all along). Now, chapter 13 awaits... Even knowing the story of the OG FFVII (completed that one 3 times back in the day), I'm very curious for what will happen here. We will see...
And, as always, if time allows it, I'm thinking about returning to Hades. Never saw the epilogue, maybe I can at least hunt for that. All this talking about Hades II brought me memories.
Carry on my friends!!
@graymamba Oh nice! As long as forum engagement doesn't eat too much into my playing time
Plants vs. Zombies: Replanted (Switch) - I've made it to the pool area.
Angry Birds Classic (Windows Phone) - On the last few levels I need to three star now.
Angry Birds Space (Windows Phone) - After taking a break from this, I began again a couple of days ago.
Octopath Traveler for me. Really like the structure, stories are nice, combat is good. Wish I didn’t have to keep switching up characters in towns though, gets tiresome that.
I’m replaying Dishonoured 2 and I cannot believe it’s nearly 10 years old. I haven’t quite decided on what else I want to play yet, so I’ve settled for my comfort gaming series.
Finally snagged the platinum for Wuchang! Now onto something lighter; Cosmic Invasion. After that I have no idea where to go. Maybe I finally purchase and tackle AI Limit or FF Tactics. Enjoy all!!
@TimeDelayedGamer What a concidence that you're also playing old Ys games! 😁
I have Ys 1 & 2 Chronicles on my buying list for years. I believe it's $15 on PS Vita store? And yep, Oath in Felghana is really good 🤝. I'm tempted to get the remaster but maybe after i get Ys 1 & 2 Chronicles.
Im going to a wedding this weekend in Bohemia!
KCD2.
Brilliant game. Played over 40 hours and I just started the first main Quest once you can freeroam.
Have a great weekend!
Happy New year folks, more Borderlands 4 for me, much better than the 3rd and I really like the unlimited grenade approach, the variety of weapons never disappoints in this series
Happy gaming folks, enjoy the last weekend of freedom
@EfYI I couldn't agree more, I loved AW2, great atmosphere and score but found playing as the man himself a real chore, the light bulb puzzles were a rubbish and pointless IMO. Playing as Saga was so much better, I really liked her story! Looking forward to Control 2 later this yea!, Have a good one buddy👍
@Mintie When I'm specifically playing with friends I look up build guides for whatever class I'm rolling so I don't spend so much time umm-ing and ahh-ing over skills and stuff. But when I'm playing as a solo class I make the build up as I go and experiment, it's inefficient and can lead to what you experienced with randomly getting obliterated, but its fun when a piece of gear makes something randomly work in my favour.
Mostly playing Silent Hill 2 remake. Just passed 9 hours and just made it out of the scary hospital... It's a bit bloody good you know!
Sound design is excellent at keeping me on edge.
Happy New year, happy gaming and have a good weekend people.
Playing octopath traveller zero
Marvel rivals for me. i use spiderman and black panther
Picked up Jotunnslayer in the current sale so giving that a go, and it's got me hankering for more Norse mythology so I've redownloaded Hellblade. Who knows, I might even finish it this time...
Hello again, y'all! This weekend I'm playing:
Switch:
Animal Crossing New Horizons: just selling more crops to obtain bells to pay for house storage upgrades.
PS4:
Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth1+: I'm already on Chapter 3 in the game, and the main character, Neptune, has been poisoned by a bad guy and is out of action right now, but a different goddess character named Vert has taken her place, and I'm searching a new dungeon called Marabuco Forest to defeat a specific monster with an antidote that will help cure Neptune. All of my party members are now in their late 20s in terms of level.
Still cracking away at Octopath Traveler before jumping into Octopath 0. Also replaying a bit of Demon Souls and Returnal in an effort to justify this PS5 Pro I got.
Hello there fellow gamers.
On this very first weekend of 2026 I´ll be playing the following:
Cheers everyone and happy gaming weekend to us all
Still playing assassin’s creed mirage-really liking what I’ve played so far. As I wasn’t a fan of the older assassins creed games & finding myself enjoying mirage, I ended up redownloading the ezio collection, freedom wars, creed 3 remastered. Not sure when I’ll get round to them tho, my backlog of games is bloody insane.
Arc ofc, the REAL GOTY Bought Dragons Dogma 2 in the sale to try and scratch my SP itch but I don't think it's going to drag me away from Arc tbh, can't stop playing that gem.
Mario Kart on Switch 2, Flight Sim on PS5.
Happy New Year, all! ✌️
Death Stranding 2. Went back and five-starred everything in Mexico for some juicy unlocks. Back in Australia, I just finished chapter four and unlocked the blood boomerang.
Shinobi Art of Vengeance. Really enjoying this, think I'm in the third area proper. Can see the legitimacy of the complaint that the stages are a bit too long.
Finished RE Village in VR yesterday. On PCVR so without all the bells and whistles of the PSVR2 version, but still a great experience.
The final part was more action than horror, as usual for Resident Evil. Not that I mind. Would be difficult to make the game scary when I'm packing guns and grenades like Rambo.
All-in-all a great game, although not quite up there with 7 for me.
Since last we shared, I bought Dispatch and played it twice. I'm letting it cool off for a bit before I go for the platinum.
This weekend should be Tormented Souls II, Control, and maybe something else. I bought a Wingman XE2 last weekend and cycled 5 or 6 different games on the PS3 - its really nice to have full, home button functionality with a modern controller. Shoot, maybe I'll see if I can jump back into Final Fantasy XIII.
Have a great weekend, everybody.
I’m kind of in between games right now since I just platinumed Astro Bot and have absolutely NO desire to do the majority of the DLC’s. It was (for the most part) a charming enough game, but I don’t enjoy platformers all that much and some of the challenge levels in that game were immensely frustrating. By the time I finally made it through the Great Master Challenge at the end, it had worn out what good will I had for it and I couldn’t wait to delete it from my system.
That said, I’m now looking at grabbing one of the following in the current sale:
Metal Eden
WUCHANG Fallen Feathers
ALIEN Rogue Incursion Evolved
Not sure what I’m gonna go with as they all appeal to me in one way or another but I have had a few people say WUCHANG is the way to go.
Bloodborne and Achilles Survivor in my downtime on the portal.
@Midnyte-Monkey bloodborne good choice 👍🏻
My Ghost of Yotei PS5 bundle just arrived, so I'll be playing a lot of that game. If it's as good as Ghost of Tsushima was, I may not play anything else all weekend. If I do play something else, it'll be the Task Force Admiral Vol. 1 demo on my laptop.
@NavalHistorian enjoy mate
Been playing star ocean 2 r and loving it! Still playing persona 5 strikers before mustering the willpower to get stuck in to persona 4 and 5. To put it bluntly, they are the moby dick to my ahab. I keep bouncing off but I have an almost obsessional need to enjoy them, just get too overwhelmed with choices. .
Finished up Wuchang including all optional bosses some of which were really difficult. Like Khazan I feel like PushSquare droppped the ball with their review. On deck for the weekend is Metal Gear Solid Delta which I’m really excited for as I have never played the original. That and Spidey 2 should keep me occupied until RE9 in February.
I’ve started Divinity 2. It’s no Baldurs Gate 3, however it’s still good. The companions are all arrogant, rude and annoying though. The game is not making me want to keep playing to help them!
Black Myth Wukong and Dispatch. Awesome games .
I picked up Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 on sale and it's feeling tiresome and repetitive after about 90 minutes. Does it get better? I'm just shooting and swinging away at everything that comes at me with no real thought or cleverness along the way.
Silent Hill 2 Remake - Started a NG+ playthrough without guns and radio to get the platinum.
Mario & Luigi: Brothership - Finishing the 3rd Great Lighthouse Island.
Sonic Racing Cross Worlds and Legend of the Tomb Raider.
I’m now bouncing between Death Stranding directors cut and hades. I booted up hades the other day because death stranding isn’t the best game for when you’re drinking. I love the loop on hades so far. It’s got the 1 more run feeling I got from returnal. Good stuff
Am now fully in a multiplayer mood so the 2 games I'll mostly be playing are mp games. I think I've finished all of the standard bosses in Elden Ring Nightreign. So gonna be doing some of those repeat fights that seem like they're gonna be harder versions of them and I'll try out that endless night one too. Very fun game
And I finally got Arc Raiders. Still early and I think I'll enjoy this one a lot more further on but rn at the start, it's very confusing. Most of my matches have been just hoarding a bunch of stuff I have no idea if it's useful or not, then dying near the end at the elevator and losing it all plus my guns. That parts not fun lol. But I'm slowly learning my way around the game. Gonna continue on
I feel bad that I've set Digimon Story Time Stranger aside but I'm really engrossed in Octopath Traveler 0 it's really really good!
Happy gaming !
I rolled the credits on Ace Combat 7 so back to Death Stranding 2 for me! I'm on chapter 10. Full disclosure: I bought it Day 1 but am really trying to do a full completionist run and 5-star it all as I go. It's a huge game playing it this way and an absolute joy. I don't want it to end! When I do, I'm starting 1 over and then probably 2 again.
I just finished my first playthrough of Dispatch. It is just as good as everyone says. One of the best of 2025.
I am also playing through Yakuza 6, as I have finally reached the end of the mainline series after taking it slow for years. I am having fun, but it is a little different in tone from the rest of the series so far.
The latest assassin's.
Rang in the new year by getting the Borderlands GOTY edition platinum. Now I started Doom the Dark Ages and having an absolute blast.
I’m trying Crono Trigger for the third or fourth time, it’s actually clicking with me this time. I’ve also been playing Star Wars Outlaws which I had played some of at launch but it was a buggy mess, it seems like it’s in a much better place now.
Finished Alan Wake 2 which was entertaining enough but the ending frustrated me because it tries to match the original but doesn't really land the same. Also I can't stand this trend of making you replay a 30+ hour game for the "true" ending which is just a few extra minutes of cutscenes. It just feels lazy and doesn't respect a players time. Either make the new game majorly different or tell the whole story in one.
Started Guardians of the Galaxy now which is pretty fun so far. They seem to have got the characters down pretty well with the insane chatter and constant bickering.
I've been so ill over Chrimbo and New Year that I've hardly touched my consoles. I have played a bit of Mass Effect Andromeda today though. Mindless fun.
@HRdepartment
Hades has taken over my console, it’s that good. 115 hrs and there’s still stuff to do. Cracking game.
Maybe this is the weekend I finally tackle that Pragmata demo. I think I’ll play some Counter Strike and Cast ‘n Chill. I feel like going back to Sektori, Earthion, and Toree Saturn too for the fun of it. I bought Zak McKraken and the Alien Mindbenders yesterday too for old time’s sake. Maybe I’ll indulge in a classic for a bit. I don’t anticipate I’ll be playing anything consistently til February, so I’m just going to have some fun.
Finished AC Mirage and on recommendation here have started AC Origins.
Preferring the combat and quite like the levelling up system but not liking the stealth. More action and less assassination. Much harder - for me at least - to plan, creep and assassinate as enemies seem to see everything?
But definitely having fun in my 1st 2 hours.
Also picked up Limbo and Inside on sale. And have worked my way through about 50% of Limbo which is a terrific little puzzler with great art style
I've been playing a lot of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 and I'm very upset that the only compatible flight stick (hotas 4) seems to be sold out everywhere.
Ninja Turtles: Splintered Fate and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. Both really fun games that I thought I’d hate.
@Odium have the most fun with Outlaws! That lunch really did a number on the game. If it had launched in the state it’s in today, it’s a GOTY contender.
Assassin's Creed Shadows
Blood: Refreshed Supply, and Prime 4.
@AhmadSumadi I completely agree. I did really enjoy what I had played of it but the bugs were taking me out, and of course some of the design choices they made I wasn’t a fan of, like dropping heavy weapons all the time. I’m really glad to see they fixed things like that and most of the bugs I dealt with, though I did get randomly stuck opening a door and I had to reset the game, but I don’t expect the game to be flawless. Overall, I’m really enjoying it again.
Xcom Enemy unknown plus on the Vita.....finally platinumed Darkest dungeon 😁
