Korean dev Shift Up has just completed a location scouting trip to Chongqing, China, as it begins work in earnest on Stellar Blade’s sequel.

Originally, it posted artwork on its X (or Twitter) account of the famous Kuixing Building, which connects various skyscrapers and rooftops using high-rise bridges.

While it originally teased the content was “confidential”, it later posted the photograph upon which its artwork is based, confirming it’s inspired by the iconic architecture in the Yuzhong District.

Taking the franchise to China would make sense, given the game’s overwhelming popularity in the country. Last week, in fact, Sony released some new marketing materials for the region, prominently featuring heroine Eve.

Shift Up has been aggressively hiring staff for the sequel to Stellar Blade, which it aims to release in 2027, although that does seem like an ambitious target to us.

Either way, it’s good to get a small early glimpse into the game’s development, with Chongqing looking like a great choice for one of the follow-up’s maps.
