I really don't like shared health-bars in tag fighters, but I'm willing to give this a chance. Hopefully there's 1v1, 2v2 and 3v3 modes at launch, unlike with DBFz.
ASW basically pioneered the "simple mode" controls back in the Blazblue 2 days, and have stuck to them since, I trust their balancing that with traditional controls.
I fully expect next-gen to release and be the last Xbox console, because right now it seems to their benefit to have a home console for GamePass and games. That said, I wouldn't put it past MS to decide it's better to cut costs by eliminating hardware altogether as soon as possible, as the only place they seem to want to spend money on is on their AI wing.
Goku, Vegeta and Gohan make up a sizable portion of that number, especially if we count the fusions. lol
First matter of business for Year 2 should be getting the GT and og DB side filled up more, it's criminal that only kid Goku is there for the og. Also new stages, game really needs new & more varied stages at this point.
If they said $15 for the combo and the money goes to a cleaner experience with less ads, or a bigger money pot, I could see it making sense, but $40 for the full package is crazy.
I've never had to replace a dualsense battery yet, but I'm all in for an easier process. I've changed dualshock 4 and PS Vita batteries, and while they're fairly doable jobs a process that doesn't require you dismantle the whole package would be nice.
They're betting big on selling skins and cars by the truckload, likely thanks to NetEase's own success in that front with Marvel Rivals. We'll see if it pays off, but it's at least a unique approach to this kind of game.
Big asterisk on limiting collabs to what they think "makes sense" especially in a game that's playing with surrealism & dream logic, as we saw in the campaign trailer. By spring they could be adding Freddy Krueger and argue it makes sense given the story.
It's about middle of the road for the GoW themed controllers. Better than the awful one for Ascension and the lame one for '18 (the custom PS4 Pro it came with was gorgeous), but below the Ragnarok controller. My favorite efforts are still the PSP's. The red one with Kratos face on the battery plate for CoO and the black with red buttons and highlights for GoS, were pretty darn good.
They found an untapped niche in the extraction-shooter genre, with this sci-fi extraction-brawler idea. Hope it pays off for them, Grasshopper is a solid AA developer with unique games.
Game looks good and using the King in Yellow as a story base is never a bad idea. I wonder if the eclipsed sun iconography that's so potent in this is the yellow sign?
To my ears the dub sounds perfectly fine, except the main character. I've never seen a dubbed Mifune film, so I can't tell if the voice is on purpose or just a miscast.
@Hesse they didn't include the War of the Lions content because they wanted to remain "true" to the og PS1 game, it's the same argument Atlus made when the remake of Person 3 didn't include the FES and Portable content, or SE themselves with the latest remakes of FF1-6. Even though the existence of a Classic mode in this for purists would in theory allow for the Modern mode to feature all the extra content/QoL features from WotL to be here.
I expect them to sell the extra classes and characters as a little DLC for $15 or so, even though it was optional content that was just included for free on PSP.
Maybe hire Nightdive to remaster the Marathon Trilogy for consoles & PC in the meantime? That's likely to earn some good will on a fairly simple project that's fully outsourced.
I trust A24 to do it justice, just have to remember the actual core of the game is the human connections, and not the weirdness with the tar, the beach, the ghosts, nor the powers.
Getting the Tsushima platinum gives you the reward of: being able to spend $25 on a pin. Is the shipping at least free? lol
I wish more games gifted PSN avatars as rewards. I remember the Persona 5 platinum got me a couple Velvet Room ones (I still use the V logo one) and a PS4 theme. That's a good way to reward trophy list completions.
I like the woman with the tattoos running around in a dress shirt and pants. Healthy amount of maps, but surprised they're holding Nuketown back again to release it a couple of months after release. Just have it in there from day 1, it's in every BO's game and it's not about to miss one.
I don't expect things to get better until FSR4 support comes in for the Pro since that's actually important for PC support moving forward they can't just halfas it.
I'm sure the Kratos actor will be fine, he's just quiet-angry for like 85% of the game and loud-angry the other 15%, I'm more interesting in who's going to play Atreus. Not easy to play a grieving kid who's stuck with a quiet stranger, but also finds time to be the source of levity in the journey.
I think Peace Walker should be next, but it's a PSP game so you can't just put a UE5 wrapper and call it a day; things have to work better as a console-desktop game. Just keep to a chronological line, but skip the 5's.
They have an important question on whether they want MG1-2 to be remade in 3D to match the rest of the series or to keep the 2D perspective, and if so whether that means using 3D models or new 2D sprites.
I wouldn't be surprised if their priority is the mainline games though, and doing MGS1 or MGS2 next. If MG 1 & 2 are going to be kept 2D then a studio that specializes in that should do them and not virtuous, who can focus on pumping out the main saga.
Gameplay wise it's effectively Lego Arkham Knight and that's pretty amazing. I hope it's not just Batman getting all the nifty legacy suits, I want a playable Discowing!
Frank Castle Ghost Rider is an interesting choice, I would have guessed Danny Ketch was the GR (if any) was most likely to appear. All that's missing is some proper Fantastic Four representation, roster could use another beefy brawler so I feel Ben is most likely, and a magic caster.
Hope you can at least still experience the Abstergo story line through cut-scenes, like Unity & Syndicate did. The Abstergo story it told tied in nicely with the story the Edwards side is telling, specially the Sage concept.
I still think AC1 should have gotten the remake treatment first, that has a lot more room for a broad rethink on how it plays & works.
I bet it's going to use the DQ7re styling (though obviously not using Toriyama's art as base) to capture the more cartoony look of the og rather than going in the realistic styling of the modern games. So I think it's real, but maybe DQ7 took priority over it, as DQ12 is perpetually far off, and FF has had a busy decade overall.
I legit can't spot the difference from PS4 to PS5 (doesn't help that it's an 1080p vid). The Switch 2 upgrade trailer said Fall 2025 so it should be releasing in the next 2 months, weird to not have a set date this close to release though.
I applaud Capcom for actually using Switch 2 footage for the Direct trailer, and for all 3 RE games (though I question releasing them all on the same day). Way too many devs just drop PC videos running on max specs or in the case of Switch 1, you got a lot of PS5-XsX promos rather than reflecting the visually downgraded Switch experience.
@rjejr I'm making the same point as Godot, just worded differently, not that the multi-plat release is implied. I'm saying is the simultaneous nature of the release is implied.
@Yozora146_ It's implied at the end of the twit, though not outright stated. The context for that implication is that they mostly haven't been able to talk about releasing on other platforms outside the PS4|5, aside from vague allusions to future PC versions, during the lead up and release period of the games. SE never talked about a future Xbox or Switch versions for Remake or Rebirth, not even when promoting CC Reunion for those consoles. If they're doing it now for Part 3 then it's implied that it's a multi-platform release.
This should be a good move overall for SE, but I expect them to place even hire sales expectations that the games can't possibly achieve as SE loves to do.
It looks like a fun arena brawler and the camera angle makes for an interesting twist on the deluge of anime arena brawlers Bandai puts out every year. If there's good content this could be a nice fun time between bigger releases.
It's a bit impressive that the 3 separate publishers got in line and picked release dates that made the most sense to maximize sales for all 3 games. I'm glad for it
I expect it to be around $600 or so. I hope they don't abandon the unique aesthetics in the name of price reduction. I'm a big fan of the PS5 look and I'm not saying it should be a continuation of that , but I like the current commitment to distinct looks for each generation.
@Anti-Matter 2 different PS6 models: The model with the Dock is a handheld like the PSVita (I would expect a different name to PS6 for that one, like PSP3) and the one with the detachable disc drive is a proper PS5 replacement.
I have to assume they're going to use the book adaptation as the source to anchor this. The GoW books do a solid job of focusing the story, hitting the major events and such without having a fight every 20 steps.
I'm not a fan of the changes made to End of the F*** World in terms of characters, the switching around of events was fine, but I can't deny it still made for good tv. Hopefully this stays true to the game character wise, should be easier since it doesn't go down as dark a path as EotFW did.
Framerate wasn't solid, but everything else looked pretty great. There's certainly time for them to make the technical side rock solid before launch. I like the exaggerated physics in places, making it look more like an action movie, and the character designs are all solid (at least the main cast). Only thing is the aesthetics look a bit too clean, it could certainly use some more grime.
I think this is the first season with a hero vs hero plot. Daredevil vs Angela would be a hilariously lopsided fight, not sure he can even punch hard enough for her to notice. It's a necessary part of the gameplay, but it's just funny doing a whole season around it.
Hopefully this means a Switch 2 version isn't far off.
It seems right up my alley, I'll forgive gameplay issues for some unique aesthetics. At $30 it's a bit expensive for what's on offer though, I'll likely grab it when it hits about $20.
