In an extraordinary announcement, Dragon Ball FighterZ is getting a new character next year.
The game, which first launched in 2018 on the PS4, was ported to the PS5 natively in 2025. But the addition of Goku (Super Saiyan 4, DAIMA) as DLC in Spring 2026 will mark the first roster expansion in over four years.
That’s really incredible long tail support for fans of the game.
Additionally, competitive players may be excited to learn a balance update is out later today, 12th October, bringing “strategic depth to Z-Reflect” and updates to “every character”. A full set of patch notes are scheduled to be released later today.
Obviously, developer Arc System Works has talked about wanting to support Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls for ten years, and this is an example of how strong its post-release support can be.
To continue to release balance updates and new characters for Dragon Ball FighterZ this late on is a staggering show of support for everyone who invested in the game, and we’ll certainly be booting it back up and playing a few rounds to acknowledge all of the dev’s hard work.
