PS Plus August 2021 Games Include Hunter's Arena: Legends on PS5, PS4

Basically just a way of getting a microtransactions riddled would-be F2P game in the hands of more people by giving the perception this is a good generous thing and not a way to hook the easily adddicted

It wasn’t clear to me from the trailer whether this is a repetitive online multiplayer game, or potentially good. Is there a single player story?

A shame it's being wasted on a moba/battle royale F2P game. And as much as I support chinese games, when it comes to F2P games, especially competitive ones, they would one way or another implement some annoying or scummy monetization (all while not bothering to care for the balance of the game), and this one probably won't be an exception. The fact that it has a 6 on Steam definitely makes me all the more cautious. I might still try it out but I won't hold my breath for something spectacular.

Also, I like they shown off more the male characters then the female characters, possibly because a lot of them are sort of very...well, revealing lol

I'm generally completely uninterested by multiplayer games/MMOs/BR games... but this looks kind of fun.
The combat gameplay seems fun enough, the graphics are fine, and the character design is quite good.
As it's coming with PS+, I'm ready to give it a try.

@playstation1995 I would be all over this if it was a proper fighter with a campaign. Not this battle royale crap.

@Olmaz I agree. I tend to avoid online only games as well, but it’s nice to see a melee based game when we’re drowning in online shooters. The combat looked fun and it’s available with PS+ so no reason not to give it a chance.

I can't help that Sony are giving us a free to play game for PS Plus lol. I will try it out but I'm not expecting much.

@Flaming_Kaiser I don’t think it is F2P, though. I’m pretty sure it’s like $20 on Steam early access? That’s what I thought I remember seeing it on Steam for. I could be wrong though.
Don’t get me wrong, not saying having to pay money will make it any better of a game. I just think Sony is investing something to give this to PS+ users, whether it’s good or bad.

I wasn't really blown away to say the least but if its PS+ it's cool. I'd try that.

@thefourfoldroot I played the closed beta. At the time, it had no single player or much content. There were few maps, though they were adding the rest in the full game. There is just a pvp mode, focused on using your skills, dodging and blocking wisely and then the rumble mode, where you have to kill NPCs to level up as quickly as possible so you can be ready to take on the last survivors of the round and obviously duke it out with anyone who may attack before then.

Oh, also it was really janky (the rolling felt a bit off and movement a bit stiff, worst was the fact you had to FULLY press triggers on a ps4 controller to use a potion or pick up items, which generally don't work that well if they're old so you have to slam then down lol) but I should imagine that has been smoothed out more like the pc experience

I have no interest in battle royales bit the clip that I watched make it look more like a fighter (I understand thats their aim but I wouldnt guessed its a battle royale from that clip)

They are going to shoot themselves in the foot though.
It feels like most players dont download plus games unless its something they are interested in. If the game ever built traction it might be off ps +by then.
This meaning anyone that becomes interested would have to buy it and sub to ps+ to play.

If the put it to f2p, if it built traction anyone can download any play without forking out for the game or plus.

Its get the publicity from the plus at the start and hope its a success from that.....or be f2p andmake it a success via their own advertising/efforts

Mythic Quest

Not a fan of online only games and multiplayer, but this game actually looks pretty solid. I’ll probably never play it but if it reviews well and catches on… maybe.

I'm paid up until September but PlayStation Plus is becoming less attractive every month.

Wow kind of surprised by the unanimous dismissal on here. I'm not a BR guy and I don't know anything about this game but atleast the concept and gameplay look a little different

Are there any non-BR modes, or is it only that? Some variety would help make this more appealing as it looks decent aside from just being a BR.

@Squanch These liveservice games are great but how many time do people think i have and its BR so its a online not free to play, BR, MP only that does not make it any better. Look great if other people like these gamesbut man i have a console not to have a mobile experience.

@Flaming_Kaiser I hear you, man. Not a fan of online games myself. Heck, I haven’t played an online only game since Warframe and I haven’t played that, since like, the second year into the PS4’s life cycle. I guess, I’m thinking this game will just be an extra offering on top of their normal PS+ offerings. Hopefully that’s the case.

@Squanch I did the COD Modern Warfare remake pass and Jezus it sucks the fun out of gaming playing and playing non stop to get those rewards. I thought i was done with work just to come home to start my other job.

@Squanch I know it sounds nuts but my backlog with mostly RPG's is terrifying me. Im finishing up Dynasty Warriors Orochi 4 Ultimate and FFS why am i punishing myself even with it any more collect 100 special weapons which you need 10 rare items and 10 normal ones, 1.3 million gold and 10 or more crystals a weapon just kill me for even trying this.

@Flaming_Kaiser JRPG’s are my favorite genre. I’m currently working on the Nier remaster and Trails of Cold Steel. The last RPG I finished was Y’s: Memories of Celceta on PS4 and played through till I got the Platinum. Great game by the way! I’m seriously not sure I can get through my backlog before I die. lol!
I got the Platinum in Dynasty Warriors 7 and that took forever, so I can just imagine the time sink Orochi 4 is. There’s quite a few more characters in those games, too

@Squanch The Ultimate version is just insane its not hard but i still dont understand why they cant just make character specific challenges. Its way more engaging instead of farming hundreds of boring items. Maybe even character specific lines if you beat your special opponent or tasks. The completion rate of the trophy 0,4 % i think not a lot of people want to finish this. 😢
