With the PlayStation Store Spring sale about to shut its door, the time has come for a new line-up of discounts to take its place. The digital marketplace has now welcomed in the Golden Week sale, which actually lasts longer than seven days. It'll stick around until 12th May 2021, and all of the deals listed below are live on the UK, EU, and US storefronts right now. So, let's get stuck right into things and spot ourselves some bargains.
For PS5 games, the Deluxe Edition of Rainbow Six: Siege drops to £7.49/$9.99, Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 is £17.49/$19.99, and the Ultraman Deluxe Edition of Override 2: Super Mech League can be picked up for £21.44/$25.99. Then there's Balan Wonderworld coming in at £33.49/$40.19. We have no further comment beyond that statement. That's it for PS5 titles, so the wait goes on to pick those big exclusives up at a cheaper price.
Over on the PS4 and NieR Automata: Game of the Yorha Edition reaches its cheapest ever digital price of £17.49/$19.99. Then there's Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun for £4.49/$4.99, Kingdom Hearts: Melody of Memory at £33.49/$40.19, and Othercide for £13.19/$15.99. Hypnospace Outlaw drops to £9.79/$13.99, Mortal Shell is £16.24/$19.49 (with a free PS5 upgrade available from this version), and Trials of Mana comes in at £22.49/$24.99. There's also room for The Wonderful 101 Remastered at £27.19/$27.19, Persona 5 Royal for £24.99/$29.99, and Ashen is £13.19/$15.99.
These deals only scratch the tip of what's on offer though, with further discounts available for the Yakuza series, Pathologic 2, Star Ocean titles, and AI: The Somnium Files. Therefore, if you want to browse through more than the 700 price drops the Golden Week sale includes, UK and EU users can head on through here while US readers should use this link.

Finally, one of the sales I look forward to most
Is this actually live yet? Not on the front page, and Yakuza 6 and 7 are not in a sale. Also no update on PS Prices...I know you said it’s live but maybe not in the U.K.? Or maybe the app isn’t updated yet?
@thefourfoldroot It is live across the world. As I said in the article, you need to search for the games that are on sale. You can see which ones are on PS Prices.
As most times I got over 100 games on my list and only received 5 alerts – and they're not even the lowest price. The sale is okay, but nothing I get too excited about.
And still not Sackboy. They haven't put any exclusive on sale on the PS Store yet.
Seems like a new policy at Sony.
That Nintendo mentality.
"We ain't dropping price points sucka, get it day one."
@LiamCroft
Ah right, it threw me as you said the Yakuza series was on sale, but I only searched for 6 and 7 as they’re the ones I need. I guess some of the others are on sale but I can’t see as I own them.
Will pick up Fist of the North Star as it’s on an OK sale. Then again, might wait to see what games are coming to plus today first, been caught out before with sales just before the announcement!
Othercide is tempting...
@JAMes-BroWWWn I don't think it is. They have no reason to drop prices for ps5 exclusive games just yet unless they need the sales. Ps5 exclusives are few and far between 6 months in.
@Kidfried
Yeah, it’s understandable, but annoying, that Sony don’t keep a record of historic prices in their store. I don’t like buying, even at sale, if it’s previously been a lower price. It’ll almost inevitably fall to that level again and I’d likely not get around to playing it before that time given my backlog.
Anyone know if Mortal Shell is a free upgrade to PS5 version please?
Edit: Do'h I just read it is in the story.
I'll get my coat.
I bought nes double dragon 1 & 3 (already have 2) for my ps5 😃
Wish the sales would creep into the PS3 & PS Vita stores, but that hasn’t happened in years. At least there’s Cross-Buy for a few.
Also I find myself browsing from the bottom upwards of the sale sections on the console store as I find the more interesting and cheaper stuff on sale is down there whilst the top is mostly the usual AAA tat.
@velio84 Absolutely worth getting, don’t hesitate. Also, I’m sure you’ve heard this, but to finish it you need to “finish” it multiple times. I won’t spoil beyond that, but know that when you first see the credits you haven’t seen the whole story.
Looks for my usual wishlisted oldies:
Cursed Castilla (Last sale Sept.2018)
Super Hydorah (Last sale Sept.2018)
Shantae Pirates Curse (Last sale July 2017)
Shantae Risky's Revenge (Last sale Jan 2018)
Shantae Half Genie Hero (Last sale July 2018)
Battle Princess Madelyn (EU launch Nov.2019 no psn sales to date)
Xeno Crisis (Oct. 2019 launch,no sales to date)
Sighs deeply & wonders if they'll ever get a psn sale ever again or for the first time!😔😕
Frustrates me as most have had multiple sales on Eshop,PC,XB just not PSN!
Okay,stuff like Blazing Chrome,Timespinner & a few others finally got a crack,but just seems so inconsistent for some indies whilst others get invites every other month!
Might hold out on Little Rock yet,never quite hit the same heights as Until Dawn...loved original North & South on the Amiga,but haven't heard much on this modern take on it.🤔
P5R at 50% but still too expensive... I can’t bring myself to pay $40 CAD for what should be DLC instead of billed as a full game.
I played NieR Automata when it came out, day 1 edition. It was very good and didn't really have any bugs to speak of.
My question to all of you is, is it worth it at this sales price to get the Game of the Yorha edition? What all does that include that wasn't in the initial release?
Thanks in advance!
@Ear_wiG I really liked it. If you're into turn-based like XCOM and want something dark and challenging, might be worth a look.
@Robocod yeah, some of those indies only go on sale during a certain time period and then never again. Don't know why. It would certainly push me to buy more of them.
I think I'm going to break and just get the Deus Ex MD Deluxe Edition even though I already own the standard edition - just to get the DLC. I've been waiting for the season pass to go on sale for over 6 months now, but it never has - even though both the standard and deluxe editions of the games go on sale seemingly every other week. Really I'd only be saving about $4 by getting the season pass over the deluxe edition anyway. Plus, maybe selling "another copy" of the game will help the future of the series in some small way.
I may also pick up the Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition Duke Nukem Bundle. Seems like it could be some dumb fun.
Waiting to see what gets announced for May PS+ before making any purchases though.
@Mega-Gazz I understand the sentiment and definitely wait - but there’s no way it could’ve been dlc. So many core things were fundamentally changed throughout that it would require a new playthrough. It’s not some extra section of the game that was added that you can visit later in the game. Especially since the game is on a calendar system.
Jedi Fallen Order down to $20 is a re-purchase for me. Loved the game on my xbox one s console and can't wait to play it again with PS5 bells and whistles.
@sentiententity Some indies (Abylight Super Hydorah/Cursed Castilla),& WayForward (Shantae series,River City Girls among others),have both hinted strongly it's out of their hands if/when they're able to get PSN sales on their back catalogue...some other indies have been quite vocal on how heavily curated Sony sales are. Namely they need to check a certain Sony portal virtually daily,(no email alerts),they have to be invited by Sony to participate & Sony dictates the % discount! 😕 Seemingly unless you get on "the list",it's difficult to hear anything back out of them!
@nofriendo glad you enjoyed it but I found it really tedious and I played it on the PS5 ….. it does look good but I’m starting g to look back with last gen eyes once the load times kick in… still!
@Robocod yes, Shantae! And Shovel Knight Treasure Trove. Always looking for those games to go on sale and they never, ever do! One day.
@LordSteev It includes a few DLCs. An arena area, costumes, skins things like that. For 20 bucks it's well worth it especially if you have not beaten it.
Speaking of Nier and Balan Wonderworld, it was a pretty big "oof" moment to crack open my copy of Nier Replicant and see a flyer in the manual side of the case for Balan Wonderworld, confidently urging me to "download the demo now!"
Might've gone gold with that packaging just a smidge too soon there, Square Enix...
Golden Week Sale is my favorite sale of the Year. Can't wait to see what's in store.
@Constable_What Thanks man! 👍
I thought I finished it, played through twice, but now I hear you have to go 3 times to get the final ending. I had fun with it the first time, so I think I'll get this and try for all 3 playthroughs.
@LiamCroft Actually no it's not live everywhere yet. It isn't live in North America yet. It'll be going live here in the states in an hour or two.
@TowaHerschel7 I used the US PlayStation Store to find out the prices in the article about five hours ago. The price discounts are very much live.
@Pro_V_Gone Curious what you found tedious about it? Apart from withholding basic gameplay mechanics like double jump until progression milestones are reached, a practice that seriously needs to go extinct. I found the game refreshingly linear, the world full of incredible detail and scale, and the setpieces thrilling. Though I did have to switch to "story" mode to get past some of the ludicrously difficult bosses. Overall, the reason why it gets a re-purchase and replay from me (something I rarely do), is I find myself just wanting to spend more time in its handcrafted world.
@LiamCroft The link you posted is just blank at the moment and the deals are definitely NOT live on PS4's storefront yet. It might be IP blocking shenanigans, but there is no way to see the sale as an American just yet.
@The_New_Butler I bought it full price on release 😫
@tomassi @KayOL77 I’m sure the Shan tae games are on psnow...?
@LordSteev I think there’s like 50 odd endings. For various miscellaneous events that stop the story 🤣
@TowaHerschel7 It Should be up now
@JAMes-BroWWWn they're waiting for june when they have days of play sales, they won't put exclusives on sale now and after 1 month.
@LordSteev No problem, but yeah, your third playthrough is when all of the endings are available to you, as in, that is when the game actually ends.
Bought Dragonball Z Kakarot ( really hoping its good, can anyone put my mind at ease?) and Onimusha Warlords as I've never played one of these in my life! ....bit of a leap of faith with both
Giga Wrecker down to that price is decent. Also Star Ocean First Departure R, I was kinda hoping it was a tad cheaper. Old school 2d rpgs touched up a tad don't seem worth anything over a fiver to me anymore, but considering it has a speed mode like the FF ports I'll probably get it.
I'm confused, is Sony paying us £33.49 to download Balan Wonderworld? Either way, I don't want it on my console.
@LordSteev Third playthrough gives you access to two more endings, C & D. Afterward, viewing either of those endings again should give you access to ending E, which is the 'true ending' of the game, and very, very much worth seeing.
@KayOL77 pretty sure there not. Happy to be proved wrong though!
@Ralizah
Thanks Ralizah, that's the details I wanted to know! Yorha, here I come.
@JAMes-BroWWWn ...Except Nintendo does periodically have sales on first-party titles...
No Melty Blood Type Lumina??
More like a Golden Weak sale.
