Looks sorta fun, but without a story... dunno. The only mgs game that I'd play for gameplay merits alone would be peace walker and mgsV. As an entire package I love them all however.
These days we are eating so unbelievably good as gamers. Too good perhaps, since many seemingly let their pleasure of of the hobby deeply depend off of what the current social media buzz around a game is. People ride and die on the opinions of others, it's crazy. A shame, outlaws deserved better.
@AdamNovice taika waititi is supposedly directing a new dredd movie. Since he worked together with Urban on Ragnarok I hope he'll just keep him for the role as dredd.
This sounds great for a replay. The original cut however is masterful in toying with the players sympathy/antipathy. It'll be interesting to see how one feels towards the characters when told chronologically.
Also, those who come out all defensive for their brand tribe bs, anti regulation fools and all-digital enablers should just hide in the pit they're digging for themselves and others unfortunately. The always sunny guy just for example, who says he "only cares for important matters", but still finds the time to ridicule and belittle those that don't share his views.
It requires proper regulations instead of a lawsuit like this. The Consumer rights and complaints Commission of the EU would be the right place to start, because if Sony would loose the right to sell in the EU, it would make them rethink some of their anti consumer policies. Just see what they achieved with apple and the usb c Standard, or mandatory 6 year hard and software support (starting on e production has ended) including replacement part supply. Great stuff!
Ugh, that ridiculous narrative that Claire Obscure saved turn based RPGs again. Turn based was on a roll for years: sea of stars, like a dragon, metaphor, just to name a few, and then the countless great ones square enix keeps on releasing but people just ignore because it's not FF. The translated text just stated the awareness that exp33 is successful, the internet however is reading whatever hot take they want into it.
Turn based or "jrpgs" never needed saving from exp33. However, the industry needs saving from all these half baked preassumptions and hot takes that float around and find traction to the point where hearsay failure becomes real failure unfortunately.
Don't get me wrong, I adore exp33, but the gamer landscape tend to get ecstatic on glorifying the darling of the year like Sandfall and Lorian, but each of them are just a failure away from being demonized with extreme prejudice (cp2077 launch f.e.). Guess it's just the times we live in.
Sounds good, though I wouldn't mind it being a more straightforward game either. I'm very confident ND will deliver a great game as always. Also hope they'll get the chance to make more Uncharted.
@LiamCroft question, did you enjoy the story of the first game and is the sequel an improvement?
Personally loved the gameplay and mood of the original, but unfortunately felt cold towards the story as it oftentimes felt pretentious and silly imo. Even while enjoying the game that unfortunately soured the entire experience, but I really hope it's better this time around.
Players accustomed to atlus might be holding off for an expanded edition which is going to be another full retail release. I'm waiting for that, preferably a switch2 release if it's not a game key.
I was super psyched by the first trailer of stranger than heaven, but the follow up trailer was a huge letdown. It first looked like rgg were working off of a new or updated engine with improved shaders and animation, even if the trailer was prerendered. The actual game looks like it's using the same tech as the last 4 games (not including ishin as it was ue4).
If they push this game in the oven until 2027 to make it reflect that original trailer I'd be fine with it.
@Jammer yeah, when excluding recent TV animations the list is very slim, though I do think there are lot's of video game guilty pleasures like 90s mortal Kombat, street fighter and live action mario bros. As of recent movies the animated mario movie, gran turismo and parts of the sonic movies were fun. I don't see any as masterpieces, but I wouldn't go all critical hate train on it all either.
@MrPeanutbutterz I know... not that blue eyed 😅 Still, Sony was a multi billion business in the PS2 days as well, yet they took many creative risks. Let's see where things go.
@graymamba great movie! If you haven't yet, please treat yourself to crying freeman, another great adaptation by Christophe Gans.
I don't know why, but when people talk about good video game adaptations they tend to forget the first silent hill movie. It should definitely be among the top 5.
@get2sammyb Don't paint this as a victory lap. The profit is made on the customers back, turn it as you will. The only playstation console that is sold at a profit. That and many other little screws they turned to exploit their customers.
On the other hand, it's also the consumers fault, by giving up their consumer rights for the slight convenience of digital games.
I still want Sony too succeed, but only to finance more innovation and creativity rather than shareholders pockets.
Cleverly toyed with the players sympathy/antipathy through perspectives, which ultimately sheds light on how quick we form judgment on what we perceive as our truth...
That is of course if you got a brain that goes beyond "oooh no, the unattractive big armed girl killed ma boy Joel, yadayadayadda".
Despite thinking tlou 1&2 are great, I don't want any more of it, just too drab and serious. Looking forward to intergalactic and keeping my fingers crossed for many more Uncharted games (doesn't have to be Nathan Drake however).
Still makes little to no sense, but hey, I'll try it once it's on sale. Tbh I just want Kojima to get working on other, slightly more grounded, things again.
@SeaDaVie Didn't Clive have another mother? Maybe I'm wrong, it's been a while. She was scoffing, plotting and porking a whole lot is all I can remember.
@SeaDaVie it's the character constellations that cry GoT. The ***** prince who is frowned upon by the queen (Jon snow), the frail son who has hidden powers (Bran Stark), the benevolent father who is betrayed and killed early on (Ned stark), the scheming queen (Cersei Lannister), blond powerhungry Nation in general, fire and ice romance, direwolves,... those are just on the top of my head. Of course it's not verbatim, but the themes and archetypes do align. Not sure, but didn't the director even admit the influence GoT had?
Though I must admit, the splitting the ocean part was visually really stunning.
It's not the franchise as a whole that's problematic, it's specifically this entry that was as stinker. It's basically a walking simulator with the illusion of interactivity, in the vein of something like hellblade and asuras wrath, though those had compelling stories. Ff16 however was a dull copy of game of thrones.
All the mechanics were shallow and the argument "you have to play it on hard" doesn't fly.
People caught on to that probably which slowed down sales quickly. When it comes to Xbox, I own a Xbox, but I never buy a game, I only play on game pass as do most other people on Xbox these days.
Lastly, I'm tired of the picture of failure gaming media, influencers and their comment section echo chambers are trying to paint of Final Fantasy and SquareEnix as a whole. FF16 was a misstep, but I love the franchise as a whole, I love the creative courage of the publisher to shake up things with the FF7 remakes, despite salty purist fanatics. Square usually produce magic when they don't try to please western audiences (FF16, for spoken, foamstars).
Dragon quest, star ocean, Valkyrie, Dio field, triangle strategy, fantasian, voice of cards, all great games of the last few years that haters love to ignore, just to say "they're milking final fantasy".
@ZeroSum I've been there, hacking a vita is really only good to play psp and vita, not much else, at least not better or more convenient then elsewhere. I think wulffs den made a video once describing the process and outcome pretty well. I'm just moving to the phone option because I'm soon reaching year 7 with my phone and it's showing signs of aging. But yeah, generally against refreshing tech unless it's necessary.
@Rich33 DMC was really solid, but it's not coming back. Most gamers are too allergic to change as to have anything challenge their expectations. On the other hand, I did appreciate dmcV as well as also the netflix anime, both about on the same level of cool as Bart Simpson 😂🤦
I guess it's a huuuuge setback if your nose is up to the TV screen counting pixels and an overlay to focus on every frame drop... you know, the only right way to play and enjoy video games.
@dskatter nobody asks you to shell out your hard earned money before or after the jury is out, so why bother? Don't like it, don't buy it, but why slam on people's work and feed the social media cesspool with more toxic waste? Is it your mission to warn others of a possible flop?

Stories of Sol or Mullet Madjack fully nail that aesthetic.
